Ford has pulled the wraps off the new, all-electric F-150 Lightning today and opened reservations for its first fully electric pickup truck. Let’s start with the pricing. The 2022 F-150 Lightning will kick off at a surprising $39,974 MSRP before any federal or state tax credits in its base, commercial-oriented trim level, rising all the way up to around $90,000 for one of the range-topping models. The mid-series XLT models will start from $52,974 MSRP, again before any rebates. Ford vehicles still qualify for the $7,500 federal EV credit, which brings the starting price down to under $32,500. Prospective customers can reserve theirs at Ford’s website now with a $100 deposit. This is the new 2021 F-150 Raptor, Ford’s Baja-inspired super truck that now enters its third generation claiming to be even more off-road capable, more connected, and perhaps more importantly even better at jumping over stuff. Ford is well aware of the F-150 Raptor’s iconic status and popularity, saying that over the last four years, the previous-generation model cumulatively outsold Porsche’s entire lineup of sports cars and also surpassed Chevrolet’s Corvette in sales. At launch, the new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will be available with an updated twin-turbo 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 but way more interestingly, the carmaker did confirm the existence of the highly-anticipated Raptor R model with a V8 engine, which will debut next year. The 2022 F-150 Raptor R will be Ford’s answer to the 702 HP RAM 1500 TRX, and will most likely borrow the supercharged Predator V8 from the 760 HP Mustang Shelby GT500, possibly at a slightly de-tuned state. The announcement was made with little fanfare as it was tucked away in the company’s first quarter financial results. Buried underneath various statistics is a rather blunt statement that the company will “not invest in next generations of traditional Ford sedans for North America.” Instead, models such as the Fusion, Fiesta and Taurus will be phased out over the next few years. The company isn’t abandoning cars altogether as the company will keep the Mustang. Ford also confirmed plans to launch the all-new Focus Active in North America next year. Following a preview last week, RTR Vehicles has unveiled its Ford F-150 RTR Muscle Truck concept. Set to debut at SEMA, the truck follows in the footsteps of the RTR Mustang and adopts a revised grille with LED signature lighting. The model has also been outfitted with an RTR-branded skid plate, extended fender flares, and a revised tailgated with RTR badging. Of course, one of the most noticeable changes is the addition of RTR Tech 6 wheels which are wrapped in 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. RTR hasn't released interior photos but the company has previously said the model comes with a Katzkin interior and a dash plaque signed by Vaughn Gittin Jr. Motivation is provided by an upgraded 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces more than 600 hp (447 kW). It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission which sends power to a four-wheel drive system. Shelby has introduced the 2017 F-150 Super Snake which draws inspiration from the Mustang Super Snake. Based on the popular Ford F-150, the Super Snake features a ram air hood, front fender vents, and a new bumper cover. The truck has also been outfitted with a four-piece ground effects package, honeycomb mesh grille inserts, and a painted tonneau. Additionally designers installed extended fender flares, a Borla dual exhaust system, and 22-inch chrome wheels. Lastly, the company added the usual Shelby badging and stripes. The interior receives a modest makeover which includes embroidered headrests and a Snake emblem on the center console. Rounding out the changes are special floor mats and an individually-numbered plaque on the dashboard. Under the hood, the 5.0-liter V8 engine has been equipped with a supercharger, a high-performance air intake, a billet throttle body, and new fuel injectors. Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance has just unveiled its range of upgrade packages for the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor including the new Velociraptor 600. All models are fitted with Ford’s twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine which typically produces 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. However, Hennessey can easily increase those figures by 30 hp and 30 lb-ft with a simply $695 ECU tune. For customers that want some extra grunt, a new high-flow air intake that adds 8 hp can be ordered as can the Hennessey Velocipator 500 package which as the name implies, increases power further to 500 hp. Starting at $2,995, this package also includes a stainless steel catback exhaust system, high-flow intake and air filter as well as a selection of custom badges. Ford officially confirmed today details on seven out of the 13 global electrified models scheduled for launch in the next five years, including  the Mustang Hybrid , the F-150 Hybrid and the Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid. Next to the new electrified versions of existing models, Ford will also launch a fully electric SUV with an expected range of ‘at least 300 miles’ for customers globally. Ford said that the all-electric SUV will be produced at the Flat Rock plant and sold in North America, Europe and Asia, without revealing further details.  Perhaps the most anticipated model in Ford’s major EV push will be the hybrid version  of the Mustang ; the company says that the electrified version will offer ‘V8 power and even more low-end torque’.
