2021 Jaguar F-Type Bows With Sharper Styling And Updated Tech

Image
Jaguar has embraced crossovers and electric vehicles, but the company hasn’t given up on sports cars.  That’s clearly evident today as the automaker has unveiled the facelifted F-Type. Looking instantly recognizable, the updated model has an aggressive front fascia that features a larger honeycomb mesh grille. It is flanked by slimmer headlights and sportier air intakes. The rest of the model largely carries over, but buyers find a new hood, restyled wheels and updated front fender vents. The styling changes continue out back as there’s a modestly revised rear fascia and new taillights that ditch the circular accent featured on its predecessor. Inside, drivers will find a familiar interior.  While most components carryover, there’s a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a Touch Pro infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Speaking of the infotainment system, it now has software-over-the-air functionality so future updates can b...

Arden Shows Up In Geneva With Enhanced Jag F-Type SVR And Range Rover

Image
In the market for something British, but aren’t satisfied with the “standard” options offered by Jaguar Land Rover? Arden can help. The German tuner specializes in the UK’s finest, and has landed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show with tempting enhancements for two of JLR’s top-of-the-line models. Pictured above is the Jaguar F-Type SVR, which already stands at the pinnacle of Jaguar’s lineup. Arden takes it further by fitting it with a comprehensive aero kit, including a new front apron, grille, side skirts, rear apron… even new door handles. 21-inch wheels stand to reduce unsprung mass, mounted to a suspension lowered by 30 millimeters (about 1.2 inches) with grippy Continental rubber to help channel all the power to the tarmac. And make no mistake about it: Arden AR 23 packs a lot of power. 703 metric horsepower, to be specific (up from the standard 575), with 644 lb-ft (873 Nm) of torque to back it up. The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 features new forged pistons, an upgraded su...

Jaguar F-Type SVR Gets Even Racier With New Graphic Pack

Image
With 575 horses on tap and one of the most beautiful shapes on the road, the Jaguar F-Type SVR is not lacking admirers. Still, this latest addition could entice some people even more. Marking its debut this week at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Graphic Pack gives Jaguar’s flagship performance model an extra dose of racing appeal. The package includes a contrasting grille surround, mirror caps, and aero winglets, along with special hood and side graphics – all available in six distinct themes. Pictured is the Corris Grey with Ultra Blue accents theme, although buyers can also specify the inverse. There’s also Yulong White with Firenze Red, Santorini Black with gold, Caldera Red with black, and Indus Silver with black. Regardless of the combination chosen, they all come with carbon-fiber hood louvers and side vents. The packages were designed by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division – under the watchful eye, we’re told, of Jaguar’s legendary chief designer Ian Call...

Jaguar Committed To Sports Cars, F-Type Replacement May Be Electrified

Image
Jaguar has embraced the crossover craze with models such as the E-Pace and F-Pace but the company hasn't given up on sports cars. Speaking with Autonews, Jaguar design director Ian Callum confirmed the automaker doesn't have plans to exit the segment and noted "We are going to do another range of sports cars eventually." The news is welcome as the company phased out the XK in 2014 and the F-Type has been a relatively slow seller despite sparking renewed interest in the brand. According to the publication, Jaguar has only sold around 45,000 F-Types globally since the model was introduced in 2013. Carsalesbase's figures also show Jaguar sold 4,069 F-Types in the United States last year compared to the 6,260 combined sales Porsche made from the Boxster and Cayman. Callum also rejected the idea that sports cars will fall victim to crossovers as he says "There is something very emotional about a sports car that conveys the ultimate in the sense of perform...

Jaguar Declaws The F-Type With Ingenium Turbo Four

Image
Buying a Jaguar F-Type has, since its launch in 2013, been a matter choosing between six cylinders or eight. But now the British automaker has rolled out a new, more economical option. Jaguar today confirmed that it's slotting one of its four-cylinder Ingenium engines into the F-Type, offering not only improved fuel economy and lower cost of entry, but a lighter package with better balance as well. The Ingenium range of inline fours is, broadly speaking, offered in gasoline and diesel versions, with outputs ranging from 150 metric horsepower up to 300. Jaguar has naturally chosen the most powerful version for its sportiest model, the 2.0-liter turbo four good for 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Coupled exclusively (for the time being at least) to an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, the four-cylinder F-Type is quoted to crack 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 5.4 seconds and top out at 155. (We can only hope for a manual version to follo...

Updated 2018 Jaguar F-Type Revealed, Gains New 400 Sport Launch Edition

Image
Jaguar has revealed the new F-Type which now gains more technology, new variants and slight design tweaks.  You would expect the British brand not to mess too much with  the successful shape of the F-Type  and you would be right; the new model only gets modestly changed model-specific bumpers which aim to freshen up its presence and new full LED headlights. The cabin on the other hand received more new stuff, with the highlight being the adoption of the company’s latest Touch Pro infotainment system as standard, featuring a high-resolution display, faster responses, real-time traffic info and more.  Jaguar has also included the new ReRun app with the car, which was co-developed with GoPro and combines the video from an action camera of the brand with key performance data real-time, including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force and g force. The cabin is also hosting a pair of new, lightweight slimline seats, new chrome and aluminum trims and rev...
