Cadillac ATS Sedan Getting The Axe For 2019, Coupe Will Live On

Image
The Cadillac ATS Sedan was designed to take on the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class but it never managed to live up to those lofty expectations. Last year, reports suggested the model would be going away for the 2019 model year and that has now been confirmed by Cadillac spokesman Donny Nordlicht. Speaking to Carbuzz, Nordlicht said “Production of the ATS Sedan is ending due to extensive plant upgrades, expansion and retooling to prepare for the next generation of Cadillac sedans.” Nordlicht didn’t go into specifics but he’s obviously talking about the upcoming CT5. The all-new sedan will eventually replace several different models including the ATS, CTS and XTS. Former Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen had suggested the model will start at around $35,000 and this would be slightly less than the 2018 ATS Sedan which begins at $35,495. Customers who are still in the market for an ATS shouldn’t fret as the sedan is still available at dealerships and Cadillac is going to mana...

The ATS GT Is The New Italian Supercar In Town

Image
ATS Automobili revealed its new GT supercar during the Salon Prive in the UK. 53 years after the company stopped producing road cars, ATS returns with a very limited supercar called simply the GT. The relaunched company says they will make just 12 units of their new creation, each reportedly priced at $1,150,000. Built on a carbon tub, the new ATS GT is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Although the company doesn’t reveal who supplied the powertrain, it’s not that hard to connect the dots just by observing the pictures. The twin-turbo V8 is producing 650hp as standard, with ATS offering an optional upgrade to 700hp. Combined with a dry weight of 1,300kg (2,866lbs), the ATS GT hits 60mph from a standstill in 3 seconds flat while 120mph arrive in 9.9 seconds. Top speed is more than 206mph. The cabin is covered in Nubuck leather and features an ultra-thin TFT screen with an aluminum surround behind the steering wheel and a ce...

ATS GT Italian Supercar Announced For Salon Prive

Image
Automobili Turismo e Sport, or ATS, is an Italian sports car manufacturer founded in 1962 by a team of former Ferrari F1 technicians now looking to bring their know-how into the 21st century. And they will do so with an entirely new product, called GT, which will show its fangs during the 2017 Salon Prive, starting with August 31, at the Blenheim Palace, in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England. To mark the occasion of building a new road-legal vehicle more than 50 years after the Italian company renounced this idea, a preview image has been released showing the brand's logo, on top of a sketch that provides us with our first look at the upcoming exotic car. Not much is known about the new ATS GT so far, except that it's powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Styled by the brand's chief engineer, Emanuele Bomboi, only 12 units will be built (by hand), using lightweight composites and carbon fiber for the bodywork, ...

Cadillac President Confirms New CT5, Will Replace The ATS, CTS, And XTS

Image
Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen has confirmed plans to eliminate a number of sedans as the company tries to accommodate customers who can't get enough crossovers. Speaking with Reuters, de Nysschen confirmed "We have to rebalance our sedan portfolio" and this will spell the end for the ATS, CTS, and XTS. The models won't be phased out overnight but the company doesn't plan to replace them once their lifecycles end in 2019. Instead, the company will launch an all-new CT5 which is designed to appeal customers looking for a sedan that costs between $35,000 and $45,000. For comparison, the ATS starts $34,595 while the CTS and XTS both start around $45,500. The CT5 will eventually be joined by a new entry-level sedan that will compete with models such as the Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA. Despite previous reports, the CT6 will continue to be a mainstay of Cadillac's lineup and will serve as the brand's flagship sedan. Cadillac needs more crossovers...

Cadillac ATS & CTS Receive Key Refinements For 2017

Image
By upgrading their styling, technology and even their trim levels, Cadillac are hoping to further emphasize that both the ATS and CTS belong in the same conversation as their all-new CT6 sedan and XT5 crossover. Starting with the trim levels, customers will now be able to choose between ATS, Luxury, Premium Luxury and Premium Performance models when it comes to either the ATS sedan or the coupe. As for CTS buyers, they'll be looking at CTS, Luxury, Premium Luxury, V-Sport and V-Sport Premium trims, which is more in line with the previously mentioned CT6 and XT5 models. After revealing the  Black Chrome packages  for both models back in March, now Cadillac is introducing the Carbon Black sport package, featuring two new exterior colors, new wheels plus additional enhancements for the CUE infotainment system. Speaking of which, Cadillac CUE (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi) is now standard for 2017 ATS Sedans and Coupe models, as the 2017 ATS Turbo Sedan becomes the...

Cadillac drops the base engine in the 2017 ATS

Image
Cadillac , in an effort to boost sales of the slow moving  ATS , is making some changes to the 2017 model. Most notably, the luxury manufacturer is dropping the base 2.5-liter normally-aspirated four-cylinder engine from the lineup, leaving the 272 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four as the base engine. The base 2.0-liter ATS will start at $35,590, $1,380 more than the 2016 model, though that's partially offset by more standard equipment. The base model now comes standard with Cadillac's controversial CUE infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen display, a Bose surround-sound speaker system, and a backup camera. Despite the bump in price for the base model, all other ATS trim levels will see prices reduced between $650 and $1,100, depending on the model. The ATS was designed to be Cadillac's answer to the  BMW  3-Series and  Mercedes-Benz C-Class . Though the ATS was originally released at a time where the Germans were slightly off their game, it's never quite ma...
