The 2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe was one of the worst kept secrets in Germany, but it’s finally official as the company has introduced the model ahead of its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its predecessor was a favorite of enthusiasts and that should continue as the coupe adopts a modern design that thankfully eschews the buck tooth grille of the larger 4-Series. Instead, there’s a fairly conventional grille which is flanked by sweptback headlights and angular air intakes. Continuing down the sides, the coupe has pronounced wheel arches and streamlined bodywork. Designers also gave the car a more prominent shoulder line, an evolutionary greenhouse and flush door handles. Out back, there’s a short trunk with an integrated spoiler. BMW has just unveiled the second-generation 4-Series Gran Coupe prior to its U.S. launch in August. Compared to its predecessor, the new 4-Series Gran Coupe is 5.9-inches longer, 1-inch wider, and 2.1-inches taller. The track has also grown by 1.6-inches in the front and 0.7 inches in the rear while the wheelbase is 1.8-inches longer than before. Those in the U.S. will be able to buy it in 430i Gran Coupe and M440i xDrive Gran Coupe variants. Power for the 430i Gran Coupe comes courtesy of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is rated at 255 hp and 296 lb-ft of torque, allowing the car to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. The M440i xDrive Gran Coupe offers up much more performance than this thanks to the use of a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder that works alongside a 48-volt starter-generator. BMW took the wraps off the sporty i4 M50 today. The marriage of the i and M subbrands, the car will be the first electric M car ever produced. Well, at least according to the German automaker, as to our ears it sounds more like an M Performance recipe than a thoroughbred M model. Finished in Frozen Portimao Blue and featuring blacked-out trim and carbon fiber add ons, the 2022 BMW i4 M50 promises to bring the visual flair and aggression of the M brand into the brand’s electric future. To ensure it can keep up with the rest of the M lineup, it will offer a combined output of 536 horsepower (544 PS) and 586 lb-ft of torque from its two electric motors, including a 255hp front and 308hp rear motor, controlled by a single speed transmission. However, note that those peak figures are achieved momentarily through a Sport Boost function that increases the system’s combined drive power by 67 hp and torque by 48 lb-ft for a little over 10 seconds. BMW introduced the redesigned M3 and M4 last fall, and now the company has dropped the top on the new M4 Competition Convertible Set to arrive in the United States this October, the high-performance convertible has a familiar twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system that only sends power to the front wheels when additional traction is needed. The system has 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD modes, and the latter offers a classic rear-wheel drive experience. Thanks to the powerful engine and all-wheel drive system, the M4 Competition Convertible rockets from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. The new BMW i4 has been revealed in full production form, following the carmaker’s 2021 Media Day event. BMW promised that their new all-electric four-door coupe was going to be 85 percent close to last year’s concept and they delivered on that promise. As expected, the new BMW i4 adopts the same front-end treatment as the iX, featuring a grille-like pair of big kidneys that act as a cover for the vehicle’s numerous sensors. Unlike the iX, this is probably going to be the model’s only controversial feature as the rest of the body avoids any design experiments, opting instead for the classic four-door coupe proportions. “With its sporty looks, best in class driving dynamics, and zero local emissions, the BMW i4 is a true BMW. BMW has officially unveiled the 2022 M5 CS. Billed as the “quickest and most powerful production BMW car ever,” the M5 CS features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that has been tuned to produce 627 hp (468 kW / 636 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the M5 Competition. If you keep your foot planted on the accelerator, the car will eventually hit a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h). As promised, BMW has lifted the veils of its first bespoke electric SUV today, and we finally get to learn its name. Previously referred to as the iNext, the battery-powered SUV will be called simply BMW iX to highlight its importance in the brand’s growing lineup of electric SUVs. Packing the latest innovations in the fields of electrification, automated driving and connectivity, the BMW iX will also act as the brand’s technology flagship. With that in mind, BMW says the design of the iX has been developed from the inside out, with the main goal being “to provide quality of life and wellbeing for drivers and passengers.” Mind you, that doesn’t mean the exterior design is an afterthought. The new BMW 4-Series has finally been officially revealed, following numerous spy shots and major leaks over the past days, weeks and months that spilled the beans on one of the industry’s worst kept secrets. BMW went bold with the face of the second-generation 4-Series, adopting a oversized vertical approach for the kidney grille in a bid to make its new coupe more distinctive than its rivals as well as its predecessor. Premiering alongside the updated 2021 BMW 5-Series is this; the 2021 BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo. It benefits from similar design changes to the 5-Series and while it isn’t sold in the U.S. and has now been killed off in the UK. Set to be manufactured at BMW’s plant in Dingolfing alongside the 7-Series and 8-Series, the new 6-Series Gran Turismo retains the same dimensions as the current model, meaning it is 5,091 mm (200.4 inches) long, 1,902 mm (74.8 inches) wide, and 1,538 mm (60.5 inches) tall. It also retains a 3,070 mm (120.8 inch) wheelbase. Located at the front end is a slightly enlarged kidney grille complemented by standard full-LED headlights that include an adaptive cornering function and the BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high-beam assistant with matrix technology.
