Ever since Ford came out with the Shelby GT350 and the GT350R, fans of hardcore Mustangs knew that the real prize would be the all-new GT500 version, which is here to push the limits of what is street legal with a 5.2-liter V8 that happens to have a giant supercharger bolted to it. Ford didn’t reveal however all the details of the new GT500, saying it produces “over 700hp”, making it capable of 0-60mph in mid-three seconds and a quarter mile score of under 11 seconds. The supercharged 5.2-liter V8 uses the same block with the GT350 but unlike previous reports, it won’t be a flat-plane crank unit. The supercharger attached to it is simply massive, at 2.65 liters of capacity. That’s bigger than the ones found in the Hellcat and Camaro ZL1 and slightly smaller than the one in the Demon. The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is shaping up to become one of the most anticipated muscular cars since the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the company has released a new photo of the upcoming coupe. Taken from above, the picture reveals the GT500 will be equipped with a bulging heat extractor hood. The model will also feature full-length body stripes and a large carbon fiber rear spoiler. There isn’t much else to see but the Mustang Shelby GT500 will be launched next year and compete with models such as the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Dodge Challenger Hellcat. In order to battle these behemoths, Ford has equipped the car with a supercharged V8 engine that produces more than 700 hp (522 kW / 709 PS). Shelby introduced the Series 1 roadster nearly two decades ago and the company has finally introduced a follow up called the Series 2. Billed as a “major evolution” of the original model, the Series 2 is the result of a unique collaboration with Wingard Motorsports which bought the remaining Series 1 components from Shelby several years ago. Thanks to this partnership, the Series 2 will ride on the original aluminum honeycomb monocoque chassis that underpinned the Series 1. While the chassis will carryover, the Series 2 has been significantly improved as it will feature billet aluminum and carbon fiber components. These changes will enable the roadster to be more than 12% lighter than its predecessor. Customers will be able to order the car with an aluminum, carbon fiber or titanium body. Ford has confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in Detroit, a new Mustang Shelby GT500 is coming to battle the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Described as the "pinnacle of Mustang performance," the GT500 will be a fast-back coupe that is twice as powerful as the original 1967 model. Ford is keeping detailed specifications under wraps but the automaker confirmed the car is projected to produce more than 700 hp (522 kW). Power will be provided by a supercharged V8 engine and it will enable the Mustang to become the most powerful street-legal production model Ford has ever produced. Shelby has introduced the 2017 F-150 Super Snake which draws inspiration from the Mustang Super Snake. Based on the popular Ford F-150, the Super Snake features a ram air hood, front fender vents, and a new bumper cover. The truck has also been outfitted with a four-piece ground effects package, honeycomb mesh grille inserts, and a painted tonneau. Additionally designers installed extended fender flares, a Borla dual exhaust system, and 22-inch chrome wheels. Lastly, the company added the usual Shelby badging and stripes. The interior receives a modest makeover which includes embroidered headrests and a Snake emblem on the center console. Rounding out the changes are special floor mats and an individually-numbered plaque on the dashboard. Under the hood, the 5.0-liter V8 engine has been equipped with a supercharger, a high-performance air intake, a billet throttle body, and new fuel injectors. The Super Snake name is synonymous for being applied to some of the craziest Ford Mustangs ever created by Shelby and for the most part, these cars have been designed as straight-line monsters that can out-pace European exotics. With its new Super Snake, officially dubbed the Widebody Concept, Shelby has gone down a different route by creating a hardcore Mustang that has been designed to deliver the ultimate in performance around a racetrack. Shelby has yet to make a decision about whether or not the concept will reach production but the finished product looks ready to show the Camaro ZL1 what it's capable of with an overhauled exterior and interior and most importantly, some serious mechanical modifications. Shelby American celebrates five decades from the birth of the original and famous Super Snake with a new, limited Anniversary Edition. The reveal took place at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, with the 2017  Super Snake Mustang  to be offered in 500 units and starting from $69,995 MSRP.  Shelby American collaborated with Ford Performance on improving the suspension and upgrading the braking system with big Wilwood rotors and six-piston calipers. Ford’s 5.0-litre V8 is now supercharged and makes 670hp as standard, with optional superchargers on offer able to pump out over 750hp.  Shelby claims that a  ‘properly optioned’ Super Snake  can hit a 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, on pump gas and Michelin street tires, and run the quarter mile in just 10.9 seconds. The potent Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and  GT350R  twins may receive an optional dual-clutch automatic transmission in the coming years. An article from  Road & Track  cites a report from the Mustang6G forums who have uncovered evidence that Ford will soon offer the GT350 with a dual-clutch auto while retaining the current six-speed manual 'box. It isn't yet known if the automatic transmission in question will have six speeds or like the new Ford GT, seven gears. Whatever the case may be, the reason to offer the  GT350 models  with a second gearbox option is quite simple; improved performance. The manual-only GT350R has already proven itself to be a rival to much more expensive  European sports cars  and supercars on a racetrack. The inclusion of a quick-shifting dual-clutch would make the muscle car that much more capable, both in a straight line, along twisty canyon roads and of course, at a circuit.
