Chery's New Compact SUV Starts Taking Shape In Official Design Sketches

Image
Chinese brand Chery is looking to expand into global markets with a suite of new vehicles, and one of them will be a compact SUV. Previewed in a few design sketches ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show premiere on September 12, the as-of-yet-unnamed SUV is said to incorporate a new evolution of the company's 'Life in Motion' design philosophy. Its styling is said to be inspired by nature, and some of the highlight designs include a sharp chrome horizontal bar at the front end, chrome trim for the bumper, side skirts and window surrounds, full LED headlights, and slim taillights, joined together by a chrome strip. Its wide track and large wheels contribute to its "muscular and purposeful stance exudes confidence", says Chery. "The world premiere of our new compact SUV marks the start of our approach to European sales with a new model line", commented the brand's Executive Vice President of R&D Center Shanghai, Ray Bierzynski. ...

Chery has big plans to mount an assault on the European market, and intends to unveil the first of its new products at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The Chinese automaker intends to launch a new line of vehicles specifically targeted at young urbanites. That'll start with a new compact SUV, previewed here for the first time in a trio of teaser images, to launch “within the next few years.” The plans call for various electrified powertrains, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. And to get there, it's opening a new R&D facility in Europe, in addition to the three it already operates in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhu. “In just a few years we intend to start selling a family of vehicles in European markets across multiple segments, with power supplied by a range of electrified powertrains,” said Chery CEO Dr. Anning Chen. “Our brand will target open-minded, younger customers in particular, with a product rollout str...

Chery Tiggo Sport Coupe Concept's Steering Doubles As Video Game Controller In Autonomous Mode

Image
Chery has unveiled the stylish and sporty Tiggo Sport Coupe Concept at the Shanghai Auto Show. Described as an interpretation of the company's "ideal for the future Tiggo," the concept has a dynamic water flow design which features soft curves and muscular fenders. Starting up front, we can see a bold fascia with LED headlights, large air intakes, and a black mesh grille. Moving further back, there's a rakish windscreen, slender LED taillights, and suicide rear doors which improve access to the passenger compartment. The upscale styling carries over to the cabin as the crossover has 'floating' seats, a full-length center console, and two digital displays. A closer inspection reveals a beefy steering wheel, minimalist controls, and glass sky lights in the roof. Since autonomous driving system are all the rage these days, Chery decided to equip the concept with some autonomous driving technology. The company declined to detail the system but revealed ...

Chery Teases Tiggo Coupe Concept Bound For Shanghai

Image
Chery's Shanghai auto show-bound Tiggo Coupe Concept is said to preview a future SUV to be positioned above their Tiggo 7 model. While the Tiggo 7 does look fairly modern, we expect any future model shaped by this Coupe Concept to feature design elements borrowed from last year's FV2030 show car. All we can deduct from these teasers is that the car will feature a sporty profile with pronounced fenders, a separate color for the roof and a large rear window spoiler, probably similar to the one we saw on the FV2030. Unlike the FV2030 though, the Tiggo Coupe Concept is expected to ditch the gull-wing doors in favor of something a little bit more practical for an everyday SUV. Also, while that wide LED strip out front does look very concept-like, we wouldn't hold our breath for it making it into production. According to LeBlog Auto, assuming this concept morphs in a flagship Tiggo 8 model (unofficial), it could presumably battle it out with rivals such as the Changan ...
