La Liga Rejects Neymar's €222 Million Payment

Neymar's world-record move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain has entered legal limbo as La Liga has rejected the €222 million payment deposited by the player's lawyer. The 25-year-old was expected to complete his move on Friday and push to play a part in PSG's Ligue 1 opener on Saturday against Amiens. However, Neymar's lawyer Juan de Dios Crespo had the cheque to trigger his €222m release clause rejected by the Spanish league on Thursday morning. "We can confirm Neymar legal representatives went to LaLiga to pay buyout clause and it has been rejected," La Liga said in a statement. Real Madrid have been crowned champions of La Liga for the first time since 2011-12, having defeated Malaga 2-0 at La Rosaleda on Sunday. Zinedine Zidane’s side only needed a point to secure the title, having held a three-point lead over Barcelona, who defeated Eibar 4-2 after a thrilling game at Camp Nou.  Any slip would have been severely punished, as the Catalans’ superior head-to-head record against their opponents meant that they would have lifted the title in other circumstances. First ever La Liga Football Academy launches in UAE

La Liga announced on Tuesday the worldwide launch of its first ever football academy. The Spanish top flight has decided that UAE will be the first location of its academy which will open its doors in September 2017. The academy will be the only scouting institution in the region with a team of UEFA pro-certified La Liga coaches conducting operations. In addition to the level of training that will be provided, youth enrolled in La Liga Academy also have the opportunity to be scouted to play professional football or land full football scholarships at leading universities in the United States and Europe, where they can continue their higher education while carrying on their football development.
