After turning the Ford Raptor into a six-wheeler, Hennessey Performance decided to do the same for the 2019/2020 Chevrolet Silverado. The result is this, the aptly named Goliath 6×6. The very first example of the new Hennessey truck, which was first previewed back in 2018, is based on the Trail Boss Z71 and comes with a complete 6×6 conversion featuring an all-new rear suspension system along with an extra axle. In addition, the whole truck gets an eight-inch suspension lift kit, a set of 20-inch Hennessey wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFG off-road tires, new bumpers, a roll bar, LED auxiliary lights and a custom, longer bed. Like all Hennessey’s products, it also comes with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. “We are very excited to offer our new Goliath 6×6 alongside our Velociraptor 6×6 truck,” said company founder and CEO, John Hennessey.“These are very exclusive and unique vehicles that make a huge statement anywhere our clients go – whether its Rodeo drive or the sand dune...

All-New 2020 Chevy Silverado HD Packs 910 lb-ft Of Torque, Due In February

Image
Chevy’s all-new 2020 Silverado HD is set to debut in February of next year, when it will instantly take up the mantle of the “most advanced Silverado HD ever”, according to the automaker. This will also be the third all-new Silverado variant to make its debut within the past 18 months, and its assembly will take place at GM’s Flint plant in Michigan. Also, compared to its 1500 sibling, the HD model is almost entirely different, as the two trucks have only their roofs in common. Still, like the Silverado 1500, the HD also gains an additional 3 inches (7.6 cm) of legroom on crew cab models, to go with a taller, more comfortable seating position. “We know the needs and priorities of heavy-duty customers are different than those of either light-duty or medium-duty customers,” stated Silverado HD chief engineer, Jaclyn McQuaid. “As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing ...

2019 Chevy Silverado Gains New 2.7-Liter 4-Cylinder Turbo With Active Fuel Management

Image
Meet the very first four-cylinder engine in the history of the Silverado nameplate, which for 2019, comes with six total engine/transmission combinations. The all-new 310 HP 2.7-liter turbo petrol replaces the 4.3-liter V6 as the standard power unit on LT and new RST specs. It’s said to offer 22% more torque and better fuel economy. It also results in a stronger power-to-weight ratio and is expected to account for roughly 10% of all Silverado sales. “A major focus of the next-generation Silverado is expanding the range of choices,” stated Tim Asoklis, chief engineer for the Silverado 1500. “With all-new engines and a broader model range, there’s a Silverado for everyone, whether you’re buying your first pickup or your tenth.” The 2019 Silverado 1500‘s powertrain line-up includes not only the aforementioned 2.7-liter four-pot, but also updated versions of Chevy’s 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 engines that are now equipped with Dynamic Fuel Management, and feature 17 different m...

Chevy Gets Back Into Big Truck Game With Super-Ultra Extra Heavy-Duty Silverado

Image
Did you think the Chevy Silverado HD was a pretty big truck? Well it is, in terms of consumer pickups. But this new version is even bigger. Unveiled at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, the new Siverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD is a medium-duty truck – not in pickup terms, but in commercial truck terms. The new addition to the Silverado range takes General Motors back into the Class 4, 5, and 6 chassis-cab truck market for the first time since discontinuing the Chevy Kodiak (and GMC TopKick) in 2009. That puts the latest Chevy trucks back in direct competition with the Ford F-450/F-550 and F-650/F-750, and the Ram 4500/5500 Tradesman. But while the 4500/5500/6500 Silverado HDs are decidedly targeted at commercial users, they’ve been designed to be as consumer-friendly as possible. They’ll also be “the most connected commercial truck available,” with features like 4G LTE internet, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and wireless cellphone charging. ...
