Kia’s crossover family is about to get bigger with the introduction of a Ceed-based model. Unofficially called the XCeed, it has been teased for the first time, with the image obtained by Largus revealing a sleek – but obviously, non-realistic styling for the jacked-up hatchback, as the production model won’t be as near impressive as the sketch implies. If we know one thing about design sketches is that automakers tend to make everything more dramatic. Thus, we have the sloping roofline, an aggressively-penned rear end, wide wheel arches and, of course, some generously-sized wheels. Also, the traditional side mirrors have been left out of the equation and there are no door handles present either. Kia’s popular Ceed range continues to expand, as an all-new Ceed GT warm hatch has been unveiled. This new model joins its more versatile ProCeed Shooting Brake sibling. The recipe doesn’t change dramatically compared to the previous-generation model. There’s still a 1.6-liter T-GDi engine under the hood, only now it has been slightly de-tuned to 204 PS (201 hp) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque, presumably due to WLTP requirements. For the first time however, the Ceed GT gets a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as an option alongside the standard six-speed manual. “The all-new Ceed GT occupies a unique position in the mid-size family car segment, and doesn’t simply chase the highest top speed or fastest straight-line acceleration. Kia officially confirmed the new generation Ceed Sportswagon will debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, and now we know what it will look like. Shared by WorldScoopForum, the two low-res pictures allegedly reveal the design of the second member of the new Ceed family. The station wagon looks identical to the hatchback up to the B-pillar, and after that it gets a longer roofline and an extended rear end for that extra boot space. The Ceed Sportwagon gets the same interior too as the five-door hatch, with the floating-style infotainment system and plenty of gear available, depending on the selected model. Higher spec versions will come with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and a host of driver assistance features. Kia’s all-new third-generation Ceed should strengthen the Korean automaker’s presence within the European C-segment thanks to its improved comfort, convenience and safety features. Just like its predecessor, the third-gen car was also designed and developed in Frankfurt, and will be manufactured at Kia’s facility in Zilina, Slovakia, alongside the Sportage and the Venga. “The all-new Ceed offers a truly contemporary and recognisable design, and advanced technologies to enhance comfort, convenience and safety. After an extensive development program, Kia is finally ready to unveil the third generation Cee’d. Teased in an official sketch meant to announce its presence at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show on March 6, the compact hatchback has dropped the apostrophe from its name, thus becoming the Ceed. Designed at the brand’s center in Frankfurt, Germany, and engineered for Europe, the 2019 Kia Ceed features Stinger-like styling, which is described as “more self-confident” by the automaker. Besides the five-door hatchback, Kia will also unveil “a second member of the Ceed family” in Geneva. The mysterious model is likely the Sportwagon variant, which will pack the same styling and technologies in a more practical estate body style.
