The Mercedes G-Class has withstood the test of time and become an icon for the brand. The company is hoping to build on that success by introducing the all-new model at the North American International Auto Show. Redesigning an icon isn't easy but Mercedes seems to have pulled it as the 2019 G-Class manages to capture the spirit of the original. Starting up front, we can see a familiar grille which is flanked by circular headlights. The model also has an evolutionary hood as well as a new front bumper which is more rounded to help improve aerodynamics. Moving further back, the G-Class retains its boxy styling and upright greenhouse. The model's distinctive trim strips have also carried over and so has the spare tire carrier. Despite the familiar appearance, the redesigned model is 53 mm (2 inches) longer and 121 mm (4.7 inches) wider than its predecessor. Mercedes has released the first interior photos of the 2019 G-Class. Set to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show next month, the redesigned G-Class will have an all-new cabin which is significantly more modern and luxurious than its predecessor. Once seated behind the all-new steering wheel, drivers will find themselves surrounded by leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, and carbon fiber or metal accents. The niceties don't stop there as the model comes equipped with heated seats, a seven-speaker audio system, and numerous new storage compartments including an illuminated area underneath the armrest. The standard model comes equipped with analogue gauges but customers can order a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch display. Even though we know what the dashboard of the 2019 G-Class looks like, these images provide a more in-depth look, since now we can also see the entire center console, door panels and some of the cabin. For starters, we can now see that the lower console has a truly minimalist design, unlike what you get on the current G-Wagen. The rest of the dashboard features the automaker's modern switchgear, wide displays like you get on the E-Class and S-Class, plus a circular air vent design, replacing the old square ones. As for the door panels, they seem to have grown in width over the current ones, which will definitely help those who like to rest their elbow on them while they drive. This is the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, the ultimate expression of the G-Class and the very same car  the company teased early this morning .  Apparently Mercedes wanted to surprise everyone with the Maybach-prepped G650 Landaulet in Geneva but clearly someone couldn’t keep a secret. The new Mercedes-Maybach G650 brings back the Landaulet moniker which is reserved for ultra-luxury vehicles with soft tops over the rear passengers’ heads.  The G650 Landaulet is based on the lifted chassis of the G500 4x4 Squared but instead of the biturbo V8 found there, it uses the company’s V12 engine, reportedly tuned for 630hp.
