With the all-new Renault Clio out in the open, it was only a matter of time before its Captur crossover version made its debut as well. For now, it’s only an online debut as the public world premiere will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. As you can see, the photos match the leaked image from mid-June, revealing a completely new design, albeit one that remains easily distinguishable as a Captur. The compact crossover now looks more athletic and dynamic on the outside while adopting a more welcoming and practical interior, as well as a comprehensive technology package. Renault will expand its presence in Russia with a new “crossover coupe”, expected to arrive in the country later this year. Three people familiar with the matter have reportedly confirmed the information to Vedomosti, which goes on saying that the mysterious vehicle is based on the same platform as the Renault/Dacia Duster. The crossover, the name of which remains unknown for now, is said to be assembled at the brand’s factory in Moscow, probably before the end of the year. It will apparently be unveiled at the 2018 Moscow Motor Show, which starts on August 29. Having been on the market for four years, Renault decided to give the Captur small crossover a mid-cycle facelift. On display at the brand's stand at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the small SUV comes with a new grille, inspired by the Kadjar, a chrome side strip, new skid plates on both bumpers, and fresh wheel patterns in 16- or 17-inches. Automakers have been falling all over themselves to make more compact crossovers. That includes Renault, which has found its Captur to be a runaway success. And now it's preparing to roll out an updated model at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Though full details are still to come, we appear to be looking at a refresh on the existing model introduced in 2013 rather than a completely new one. Restyled to more closely match the brand's new design ethos, the updated Renault Captur features a new grille, front and rear bumpers, and LED head- and taillamps.
