Does The Cadillac XT4 Have What It Takes To Top It's Segment?

Image
Late last month, Cadillac surprised the world as they took the wraps off the latest addition to their lineup, a compact CUV called the XT4. It's more of the same, yet something completely new from the American luxury carmaker. More of the same because it's very similar to the larger XT5, and something different because it's the first time Cadillac has made a compact luxury crossover. Think of it as a potential ATS replacement. Since the luxury crossover segment is a rapidly growing one, it's no surprise Cadillac has jumped on the bandwagon with it's second CUV, to sit alongside the larger XT5. While the XT5 does battle with BMW's X5, Merc's GLC, Audi's Q5, Porsche's Macan-and to some extent, Cayenne, Volkswagen's Touareg, Lexus' RX and Alfa Romeo's Stelvio, among others, the XT4 is set to battle the Merc GLA, Lexus' NX, Audi's Q3, BMW X3 and probably a few more. Mercedes Aesthetics A Concept Previews New Design Language

Image
The design language set to be adopted by Mercedes-Benz’s future range of compact vehicles has just been previewed in the form of the Aesthetics A  sculpture . In the coming three years, up to eight models from the German brand will adopt styling inspired by the Aesthetics A, including the  next-generation A-Class  and B-Class. Additionally, successors to the CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLA will all receive updated designs, reports  Autocar . Mercedes says that the look previewed by the sculpture is a development of its ‘Sensual Purity’ design language. At the front, these developments include a new grille design mimicking the look first implemented into the range-topping AMG GT-R, dubbed the Panamericana grille. The hood continues to be characterized by aggressive lines and sharp creases. Perhaps the most obvious alteration in the brand’s design language are the simplified sides. Rather than supporting a host of different lines and shapes, the sides now simply con...

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the facelifted GLA on the eve of the  Detroit Auto Show  with a number of minor refreshments compared to the current car. Perhaps the most obvious change to the  updated GLA  is the modified front end that includes a set of round fog lights for the 220 variant. Additionally, the facelifted GLA enjoys a slightly different rear with new tinted taillights in what Mercedes-Benz dubs as a “fitness programme” for the compact SUV designed to make the GLA more rugged in its appearance. There is only one new variant added to the range and dubbed the GLA 220 4Matic that pumps out 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The rest of the petrol range them consist of the GLA 180, GLA 200, GLA 250, GLA 250 4Matic and of course, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic. As for the diesels, they include the GLA 180 d, GLA 200 d, GLA 200 d 4Matic, GLA 220d and the GLA 220d 4Matic. The interior of the new GLA benefits from a 360-degree camera that displays the surroundings o...
