Mercedes has taken the wraps off the facelifted CLS, which looks to reassert itself as the definitive four-door coupe. Looking instantly recognizable, the 2022 CLS features a revised grille and a sportier front bumper. The model also has restyled wheels and a new paint job called spectral blue metallic (starling blue metallic in the US).  Customers looking for something more exclusive can opt for new designo colors called jupiter red, cashmere white magno and emerald green. Interior changes are relatively minor, but include a new steering wheel with a two-zone sensor pad in the rim that detects your hands. This should help to prevent erroneous warnings when using the CLS’ semi-autonomous driving technology. Even though we've all had plenty of time since yesterday to make up our minds regarding the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS, now we also know what makes it tick underneath. We should begin by saying that the overall styling of the car is of course instantly recognizable thanks to its clear contours and high waistline. According to Mercedes, the third-generation CLS is supposed to reflect "the timeless aura of the first CLS", which as you know, basically invented this segment. In case you were itching to find out what the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLS looked like underneath all that camouflage, these leaked images should answer most of your questions. We should begin by saying that the overall styling of the car does not come as a surprise anymore, especially since we saw the new CLS wearing light and somewhat revealing camo as far back as August. Also, as more media outlets will be sharing these images with their readers, it's possible Mercedes won't wait until tomorrow's scheduled unveiling in LA, and perhaps send out an official press release today - fingers crossed though. Mercedes-Benz has dropped a second teaser image of the 2019 CLS, this time previewing the vehicle’s interior. The image shows that the new CLS’s dashboard will be dominated by a single screen that incorporates the gauge cluster and infotainment system. Unlike all other models in the company’s range, the CLS has a single, exceptionally-wide screen handling all of these functions, rather than two 12.3-inch screens placed next to each other. Furthermore, it also appears as if the CLS’s display will be slightly curved. Beyond its bespoke screen, the image shows that the CLS will feature the brand’s familiar four air vents in the center of the dashboard, complete with mood lighting. Things are then capped off with carbon fiber. Interestingly, Mercedes-Benz refers to the model as the ‘CLS Coupe’ in the Facebook post revealing the interior, perhaps suggesting that the model will adopt the ‘Coupe’ moniker in order to further differentiate it from the upcoming Mercedes-AMG sports sedan...

Weekends are not usually chosen by automakers for revealing new products, but Mercedes-Benz has just released the first teaser image of the all-new CLS that'll be officially revealed at the upcoming LA Show on November 27. Mercedes uses the tag “The Original Perfected”, a clear reference to the fact that the first generation created the four-door saloon segment. The sole image depicts the car head on, highlighting the LED headlights, but it’s not that hard to discern the overall shape, single-bar grille and lower fascia. Thanks to spies, we have already seen the third generation of Merc's four-door saloon with minimal camo, so we know what to expect: a sleeker bodywork than that of the outgoing model with soft curves replacing the more angular design of the previous CLS, and a dashboard with an instrument binnacle, infotainment system, climate control, curvy touchpad and, of course, circular air vents that’s become a staple of Mercedes’ new models. Mercedes-AMG are not only working on their dedicated hypercar, baptized the Project One, but also on a new concept, which will reportedly debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show. Offering a preview of the CLS Shooting Brake replacement, the four-door study is based on Mercedes-Benz's specially modified MRA modular rear architecture, which is also used in the AMG C63, E63 and S63, Autocar reports. Known as the GT4, it uses the heart of the latest AMG performance models, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, and is said to feature new twin-scroll turbochargers fitted between the cylinder banks. With this recipe, induction qualities are to be improved over the standard version of the engine. Gunning for the Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, the production version of the GT4 is expected to reach European dealers in 2018.
