Elon Musk unveiled Tesla’s hotly anticipated Cybertruck all-electric pickup on Thursday night in California. This may sound odd, but when we first saw the wedge-shaped truck that has the presence of an autocratic government’s police vehicle from a 1990s dystopian future film, we thought he might be kidding, waiting to pull a switcheroo on us. Turns out, he wasn’t. As with the Palto Alto company’s other endeavors, Tesla wants to disrupt the heavily contested, yet hugely lucrative, especially in the United States, pickup truck segment. Seven years in the making, the Cybertruck, or CYBRTRK, as some at Tesla like calling it, is a futuristic looking, albeit unpolished, wedge-shaped full size pickup truck. At 231.7 inches (5,885mm) long, 79.8 inches (2,027mm) wide and 75.0 inches (1,905mm) tall, with seating for six, it sits nicely between the numerous offerings from Ford’s F-150, which depending on the body, measure 209 to 250 inches long, 80 to 86 inches wide and 75 to 78.5 inche...

The Tesla Model Y premiered at a special launch event in Los Angeles. The SUV will join the Model 3, Model S, and Model X in Tesla’s range of consumer passenger vehicles as well as the impending second-generation Tesla Roadster and Tesla Semi. Tesla will ultimately offer the Model Y in four configurations. The entry-level, Standard Range model is expected to arrive in Spring 2021 and will be the cheapest of the four, starting at $39,000. Before the Standard Range model arrives, however, customers will have three different variants to choose from all of which will launch in Fall 2020. The cheapest of these three models will be the Tesla Model Y Long Range. As the name implies, this variant will focus on maximizing range and be able to cover 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge. Tesla has dropped a new teaser image of the Model Y compact premium crossover before the vehicle’s global premiere on March 14. This image, sent out as part of an invitation for the vehicle’s launch, provides a glimpse of the Model Y’s front end. It shows the SUV with a blue paint scheme and unlike previous images, depicts the vehicle with traditional wing mirrors. In typical Tesla fashion, there’s also a hidden Easter Egg in the teaser. As a number of Tesla enthusiasts recently discovered, trying to brighten up the image shows some additional details of the vehicle as well as a license plate reading ‘Nice Try’. Shortly after confirming that the Tesla Model Y will premiere on March 14, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has announced that the firm’s long-awaited pickup truck will debut later this year. Musk has spoken about the Tesla pickup truck on a number of occasions in recent months and has been unable to control his excitement for the vehicle. He reiterated this excitement in a Twitter post. “Personally, I’m most excited by the Tesla Truck. Maybe it will be too futuristic for most people, but I love it,” he wrote. Tesla has only ever released a single teaser image of its upcoming pickup. The Tesla Model Y will be unveiled at the automaker’s Los Angeles design studio on March 14th. Elon Musk made the announcement on Twitter and confirmed that the Model Y will be roughly 10 per cent larger than the Model 3 sedan and cost about 10 per cent more. The Model Y will act as Tesla’s entry-level SUV and essentially be a smaller version of the Model X. According to those in the know, it will share approximately 75 per cent of its parts with the Model 3 and most likely be offered with the same powertrain configurations as its sedan sibling. Due to its size, the SUV’s range will be slightly reduced over the Model 3. Revealed at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona is the EPCS V2.3 Tesla P100DL – the new race-ready version of the Model S that will form the basis of the Electric Production Car Series. The electric powertrain seems to have been altered slightly to produce 778 horsepower (585 kW) and 734 lb-ft (995 Nm) of torque. With the cockpit stripped out for competition, the organizers say it’ll run to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.1 seconds and top out at 250 km/h (155 mph). As you can see from the pictures, the bodywork seems to have been modified as well, with blistered wheel arches and a racing-spec aero kit to help keep the car glued to the track through the corners. Tesla has used its annual shareholder meeting to release a new teaser image of the upcoming Model Y crossover. Set to share many of its parts with the Model 3 sedan, the Model Y will essentially be a smaller version of the Model X and aim to become the most affordable, all-electric crossover on the market. This latest teaser image, as with one published last year, shows that the Model Y will adopt a familiar Tesla look and make do without conventional wing mirrors. Additionally, we can see that the crossover will have a more upright and pronounced front fascia than current Tesla models. A very short front overhang is also visible alongside large wheels. Technical specifications for the dual-motor Tesla Model 3 derivatives have been announced by Elon Musk on Twitter . Tesla will produce two all-wheel drive Model 3s, one focused on range and the other optimized for power. The first of these two will use the same 258 HP and 317 lb-ft rear wheel motor as the regular Model 3 and also utilize a second electric motor driving the front axle. Tesla hasn’t published a combined horsepower figure, but says this Model 3 variant will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, a healthy 1.1 seconds quicker than the rear-wheel drive version, and will top out at 140 mph (225 km/h). As for the performance-focused dual-motor Model 3, it will be capable of launching from a standstill to 60 mph in a rapid 3.5 seconds and max out at 155 mph (250 km/h). Tesla is temporarily stopping production of its Model 3 electric car, amid a long waiting list and several missed targets. The company, however, says the shutdown is intended to resolve some of the problems that have contributed to the numerous delays in getting the cars to hundreds of thousands of reservation holders. The automaker said Monday it would halt production of the Model 3 sedan for 4-5 days at its Fremont, California assembly plant, BuzzFeed reported. Tesla, however, says this is part of a planned period of downtime that was similar to another shutdown in February, and it isn’t intended to have an affect on the company’s current production targets for the car. “Our Model 3 production plan includes periods of planned downtime in both Fremont and Gigafactory 1,” a Tesla spokesperson told The Verge. “These periods are used to improve automation and systematically address bottlenecks in order to increase production rates. More customers in Europe opted for a Tesla Model S last year, with the American electric car beating traditional luxury brands like Mercedes and BMW in their home turf. While the Tesla Model S has been selling more examples than Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-Series in the US for some years now, the same happens for the first time in Europe, Automotive News reports. Sales of the Tesla Model S in Europe have increased by 30 percent, with 16,132 cars sold in 2017. Mercedes sold 13,359 S-Classes for the same year, an increase of 3 percent. BMW sold 11,735 7-Series models, a 13 percent decrease over 2016. In the US, Tesla’s Model S sales were up by nine percent last year to 28,800 cars, beating rivals like the Cadillac XTS (16,275 units) and the Mercedes S-Class (15,888 units). Even the Model X is gaining traction on the European sales charts, as it managed to sell 12,000 units last year, which is about the same as the Porsche Cayenne and nearly 2,000 cars more than the BMW X6. “T...

The Electric GT Racing Series has attempted to get its feet off the ground with the Tesla Model S for some time now. The all-Tesla racing series was initially announced two years ago, but has just received FIA’s approval and could being as early as this year. According to The Verge, the Electric GT World Series will see heavily-modified Tesla P100D sedans with approximately 778 horsepower compete against one another. The locations, drivers, and championship schedule, though, are still up in the air. All they have said is that the series will race at well-known circuits, which most likely means the Teslas will compete at current or former Formula One tracks. Getting approval from the FIA is a big step forward. The race-ready Model S sedans recently passed official crash tests, as well. Tesla has announced that all new Model S and Model X vehicles will now come equipped with all-wheel drive as standard. It was only three years ago that Tesla first unveiled its dual-motor setup after Elon Musk shared a mysterious teaser image on his Twitter. The EPA has finally detailed the official range of the Tesla Model 3, the electric automaker’s first affordable EV. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the long-range variant of the Model 3 has a combined range of 310 miles (499 km), exactly the same figure as quoted by Tesla at the vehicle’s delivery event in July. In the city, Model 3 Long Range owners can expect to travel 321.9 miles (518 km) on a single charge and 295.5 miles (476 km) on the highway. Alongside confirming the vehicle’s range, the EPA has given the range-topping Model 3 a combined 126 MPGe rating, calculated from 131 MPGe in the city and 120 MPGe on the highway. This places the Model S Long Range below the 136 MPGe of the Hyundai Ioniq Electric but above the 119 MPGe of the Chevrolet Bolt and the 118 MPGe of the BMW i3. Carscoops

The company’s plans for a pickup truck are well known for some time but information remains limited at this point, with the teaser suggesting it will look like a smaller pickup truck version of the Semi. First, the most important number of them all. 500 miles. According to Tesla, that is the official range of the Tesla Semi under highway conditions when it is towing its full 80,000 lbs load. When fully loaded, the semi will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 20 seconds, far quicker than any diesel semi-truck on the market. Remove the trailer and it’ll reach the same mark in five seconds. Making the Tesla Semi so brisk off the line are the four independent electric motors, driving the four wheels at the rear. Another interesting thing about the Tesla Semi is that Musk says it will be impossible for the vehicle to jackknife. This futuristic semi-truck was recently spotted on a small airstrip known to be a common testing ground for Tesla, the same place where the first Model S P85D sighting occurred. While we can't be absolutely certain this is the EV-maker's eagerly awaited truck, all evidence seems to point to it, including the fact that it resembles this teaser revealed by Elon Musk back in April. If you recall, that teaser image showed the front fascia of a tall semi that featured flared fenders with embedded daytime running lights. As you can see, this semi also has flared fenders, and the lights appear to be where we thought they'd be too. There is one thing that doesn't quite add up at first, and that's the height difference between this truck and the one in the teaser image. A team of Italian Tesla owners have established a new “hypermilling” record, driving a Model S 100D 1078 kilometers (about 670 miles) on a single charge. The record beats one that set by a Model S P100D that drove 560 miles on a single charge in Belgium in June 2017. Hypermiling is a technique used to conserve gas (or in this case, electricity) which involves driving at a low, consistent speed with minimal use of the vehicle’s brakes. Following word of the June record, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter that hitting 1000 km on a single charge should be possible. The company’s official club in Italy, Tesla Owners Club Italia, took up the challenge. They used a normal production vehicle outfitted with low rolling resistance tires with the air conditioning turned off.
