Lynk & Co 03 Exposed With Concept Looks In China

Image
Say hello to the production-spec Lynk & Co 03, uncovered by Chinese publication Auto Home. Looking almost identical to the 03 design prototype revealed at last year’s Shanghai Auto Show, the brand’s first sedan complements the 01 SUV very well. Key design changes between the prototype and the finished car include secondary headlights on either side of the upper grille and reshaped fog lights in the lower grille. Designers have also stayed true to the prototype’s design at the rear with almost-identical taillights and badges. Perhaps the most obvious point of difference is the absence of the prototype’s chrome tailpipes protruding out of the bumper. As they’re no longer visible at all, it seems apparent that the Geely-owned company has relocated the exhaust to exit under the rear fascia. As for the cabin, the Lynk & Co 03 pictured appears to be bathed in light brown and black leather. A large touchscreen infotainment system dominates most of the center console which ...

Lynk & Co 02 Crossover Breaks Cover And It Looks Premium

Image
Unveiled at an event in Amsterdam, the Lynk & Co 02 will take its place alongside the larger 01 SUV and the 03 saloon within the Chinese automaker’s portfolio. Among its most important features are the electrified power train, the compact design, two-tone color schemes and muscular wheel arches, which give the 02 a sporty, confident stance. According to Lynk & Co, the 02 will be produced in Europe for Europe, aimed at youthful buyers with active lifestyles. “Sporty, adventurous, dynamic, daring, confident and fun, the 02 sits at the absolute center of our brand,” stated the company’s design chief, Andreas Nilsson. “A shorter wheelbase, lower ride height and center of gravity – combined with two-tone color schemes and softer, voluptuous surfaces, muscular haunches and wheel-arches – give 02 a solid and confident stance while being agile and sporty in character. Immediately identifiable as a member of the Lynk & Co family, it is also unique on the inside and ...

Lynk & Co 02 Crossover Teased Before March 26 Unveiling

Image
Three revealing images of the Lynk & Co 02 have been released prior to the crossover’s world debut in Amsterdam on March 26. The 02 will act as the brand’s second model after the larger 01 SUV, and form a crucial part of the automaker’s future range of connected cars. Other models in the works include the 03 sedan and the 04 hatchback. Like the 01, the Lynk & Co 02 is underpinned by Volvo’s CMA platform. When it hits the road, initially in China, it will be sold with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder unit delivering 177 hp and a 2.0-liter turbo with a healthy 190 hp. Both a plug-in hybrid powertrain and an all-electric version are expected to follow shortly after the vehicle’s launch. According to Chinese media, the 02 will measure 4,448 mm (175.1 in) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 in) wide, and 1,528 mm (60.1 in) high with a 2,702 mm (106.3 in) wheelbase. This makes the vehicle exactly 66 mm (2.6 in) shorter, 33 mm (1.3 in) wider, 145 mm (5.7 in) lower, and with a 32 m...

Lynk&Co 02 Crossover Leaks Out Well Ahead Of Debut

Image
Geely's new Lynk&Co brand didn't plan on revealing its third new model, we hear, until late in April at the Beijing Motor Show. But the first images of the crossover have leaked out ahead of time. Called the 02, the compact crossover is expected to slot in below the 01. Autocar reports that it shares its Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) with the new Volvo XC40, fitting dimensionally in between those two models. We're also told to expect a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a completely electric version to follow – and a suspension tuned to European tastes. The styling (ostensibly penned by Peter Horbury) certainly reveals its European influence, with details that remind us of Porsches and Saabs in particular. Look for the Lynk&Co 02 to launch for the European market in 2019, alongside the aforementioned 01 crossover and 03 sedan. Carscoops

Lynk & Co's Volvo-Developed 01 SUV Shown In Production Form

Image
Geely owned Lynk & Co has revealed the production version of the 01 concept at a special event ahead of the Shanghai Auto Show. Shown alongside the 03 concept, the production 01 follows in the footsteps of the original concept as there doesn't appear to be any major exterior styling differences between the two. For the most part, the same applies to the interior design, bar the less fancy trimmings or the pictured car in the release from Lynk & Co as well as China's Xcar that was present at a local unveiling. However, it's possible that we're looking at a lower trim-level model here. The crossover will reportedly come with a number of high-tech features including a digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system Lynk & Co declined to provide performance specifications in its release but the publication says the crossover will ride on the CMA platform and be available with four different powertrains. Choices are slated to...

Lynk & Co 03 Sedan Shows Its Skin Before Shanghai Debut

Image
Barely a week after Lynk & Co’s futuristic 02 emerged online, the first images of the company’s latest creation, the 03, have hit the web and while it’s being dubbed a ‘design prototype’, it looks ready for the road. Unlike the 02 which has bold butterfly front and rear doors and exterior design elements reminiscent of a spaceship, the 03 is much tamer and altogether just looks like a re-proportioned 01 SUV that now takes the form of a sedan. Limited details about the Lynk & Co 03 have been announced but it is expected to be underpinned by the same Volvo Compact Modular Architecture as the 01. The front of the 03 sits high, just like the 01, and includes a set of small headlights incorporated into the front wheel arches and makes use of a split grille design. The example pictured also rides on a set of five-spoke wheels, has a black roof, dual tailpipes and LED taillights. The cabin of the 03 is just as eye-catching as the exterior. It includes a center console and tou...

Lynk & Co Will Not Use Model Year Designations For Its Vehicles

Image
As part of  Lynk & Co’s  plan to disrupt the automotive industry and introduce the next-generation of vehicles, it has emerged that the  Chinese firm  will ditch model year designations and do things slightly differently. During an interview with  Automotive News , Lynk & Co senior vice president Alain Visser said that rather than use model years, the mobility company will take inspiration from the fashion industry by launching different colors based on the season. Additionally, Lynk & Co will ditch traditional model names and simply use numbers to denote its models, starting with the 01 and then including the 02 and so on. Like Tesla, Lynk & Co will also use a direct-to-consumer sales model like  Tesla  and allow consumers the ability to get behind the wheel of the brand’s models without purchasing them. According to Visser, millennials aren’t interested in owning a vehicle but want to remain connected and this is where the company’...

Geely's Newborn Lynk & Co Launches Volvo-Based 01 Compact SUV To Conquer The US & Europe

Image
The first model from  Geely's  newly-born Lynk & Co brand has just been unveiled in the form of the 01 compact SUV. The Lynk & Co 01 will be manufactured in China, but Geely says it will be sold in high volumes in Europe and the United States. Interestingly, it not only shares its underpinnings with the  upcoming Volvo XC40, but  the 01 has actually been designed and engineered in Sweden as well. Lynk & Co  claims that the 01 is the world's most connected car. As such, the model will always be connected to the internet and the cloud and once it hits the market, feature an open application programming interface which will allow developers to add their own ideas to the car. Additionally, owners will be able to share their 01 with others when they don't need it and have the ability to monitor their car from a smartphone.  While it has been confirmed that the 01 will feature the same modular architecture as the upcoming XC40, no engine details ha...

Geely's Lynk & Co Teases Mysterious First Model

Image
Lynk & Co, the mysterious  mobility company  from Geely, the parent company of Volvo, has released two teaser images of its first model ahead of a world debut on October 20. Details about the model are limited but it is thought to be  based around Volvo's  Compact Modular Architecture and based on these teasers, appears to be a small crossover. At the front, we can see a high fascia with a bulging headlight looking somewhat familiar to those of the Alfa Romeo 4C.  The rear end then appears to be sporting a small roof-mounted lip spoiler and a steeply raked window. While details about the vehicle's design are hard to pinpoint, the  company  itself has ambitious targets for the car, calling it “the most connected car to date” that will help push Lynk & Co to “the limits of the car industry”. According to Lynk & Co senior vice president Alain Visser, “In the car industry, for a century we have been so preoccupied by refining our product and...
