The wraps are officially off Peugeot’s brand new family hatchback, the 308, that’s set to go on sale in Europe and other international markets (but not the U.S. after Stellantis decided to focus on Alfa Romeo instead) later this year. Beyond the sporty styling the other big news about the VW Golf challenger is the availability with electrified powertrains from the get-go. Underpinning the car is the third-generation of Stellantis’s EMP2 platform that has seen the 308’s wheelbase grow by 55 mm. In redesigning the car, Peugeot has also dropped its height by 20 mm to create a sleeker silhouette. Found at the front is the all-new roaring lion’s head logo of the brand. All variants of the 2021 308 come standard with LED headlights that complement vertical LED daytime running lights. Shortly after images of the all-new Peugeot 2008 leaked online, the new SUV has been officially presented by the French car manufacturer. As those leaked images indicated, the vehicle looks very much like a smaller version of the 3008 and Peugeot will hope to emulate the success of that model with the smaller 2008. Much like the new 208, the new Peugeot 2008 will be offered with a selection of petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. In terms of petrol units, customers will be able to opt between three different 1.2-liter PureTech three-cylinder powertrains pumping out 99 hp, 128 hp, and 153 hp respectively. A 1.5-liter BlueHDI diesel version with 99 hp is also on offer with a manual transmission. Perhaps of even more importance than the petrol and diesel models is the e-2008, the all-electric version. The all-new 2019 Peugeot 208 has just premiered prior to its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It’s sharp, bold, and has an unconventional but appealing look, just like a small car filled to the brim with personality should have. The all-new Peugeot 208 is underpinned by the company’s Common Modular Platform (CMP) and weighs 30 kg (66 lbs) less than the outgoing model. Alongside the weight savings, Peugeot says that the new underpinnings contribute to a reduction in noise, vibration, and harshness levels. Powering the new 208 is a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine or if customers wish, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel. The 1.2-liter petrol offers up 75 hp and is mated exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission. The diesel delivers 100 hp and has a six-speed manual gearbox. Peugeot has unveiled a model we never saw coming. Dubbed the Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept, the vehicle will premiere at the Geneva Motor Show and provides a glimpse into the future of the marque’s electrified, performance-focused vehicles. Peugeot Sport created the Engineered Concept by starting with the all-new 508 Hybrid and working its magic on the car’s design, performance, and efficiency. Powering the concept is Peugeot PureTech 200 engine that’s paired with a 110 hp electric motor sending power to the front wheels. A second electric motor, this time with 200 hp, has then been installed and drives the rear wheels. Total torque sits at 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) and Peugeot says that the 508 Sport Engineered Concept can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds before hitting a mechanically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Retro design looks to the past. Electric propulsion looks to the future. But automakers have been apt to show us they needn’t be mutually exclusive, like Peugeot has with the new e-Legend concept. Set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show next month, the Peugeot e-Legend is draws its stylistically inspiration from the classic 504 coupe and applies it to a futuristic form about the size of a Nissan GT-R – but with a radically different approach. Underneath the neo-retro styling, for starters, sits an array of electric motors and batteries to imbue the show car with 456 horsepower (340 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Backed by 100 kWh-worth of batteries, it’s said to rocket to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under four seconds, top out at 137 mph (220 km/h), and zip along for up to 373 miles (600 km) on a single charge. As the 2018 Paris Auto Show is fast approaching, the teasing frenzy has begun, with the latest brand to offer an initial glimpse into a new product being Peugeot. Referred to aptly as their “latest ConceptCar”, the study has something very 504-ish in its design, as previewed by an image released by the French car firm and shared on social media by Peugeot Sport Club UK. Jean-Philippe Imparato, on the other hand, who posed next to it, sharing the image on Twitter, said the study made him “feel like a child” when he first laid eyes on it. The brand’s boss revealed that the yet to be named concept is the result of “two years of hard work”. This means that it was in development alongside the second-gen 508, which was presented to the public at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The French know a thing or two about style. Always have, and as Peugeot showed with the launch of the new 508 sedan just months ago, they still do. And now they’ve done it again with the new 508 SW. Peugeot has some serious rally chops behind it. But while it has left the top tier of the World Rally Championship to its sister-brand Citroën, it actively competes in rallycross – and this is its new contender. The French automaker’s will compete in this year’s FIA World Rallycross Championship with the new 2018 Peugeot 208 WRX. It’s based on the same vehicle the French marque has fielded in the series since 2014, but upgraded with key enhancements for the season ahead. Those upgrades include a new aerodynamics package to increase downforce, with a new wing and rear bumper. The suspension has been revised as well, with a new front setup, fresh dampers and bigger wheels, as well as a quicker-shifting gearbox and a new roll cage. It’s no secret that, like all non-premium manufacturers today, Peugeot has had a hard time cracking the sedan segment, as buyers are not just edging, but frantically running towards SUVs and crossovers of all shapes and sizes. Nonetheless, the French brand is giving it another go with a more dynamic interpretation of its mid-size saloon. This time, the 508 has dropped its predecessor’s traditional boot-lid four-door figure for a sleeker and at the same time, more practical, fastback bodystyle. Peugeot describes the 2018 508 as combining “a bold new low coupé design with the enhanced practicality of five doors” and calls it “a five-door fastback coupé-saloon”. It says its closest rival is the Audi A5 Sportback.
