The 2020 Tacoma is here, but you need to take a good look at it to spot the changes compared to the 2019 model. Toyota adopted a cautious approach when updating the styling of its mid-size truck. Basically, besides the new grille and wheel designs, smoked taillights, as well as the sequential LED headlights on the TRD Pro version, the pickup looks identical to the current model. Not that we were expecting anything radical; after all, it’s not a new model but rather a facelift for the Tacoma — after all, it’s been America’s best-selling mid-size pickup for 14 years running. Toyota has officially revealed the updated range of its 2019 TRD Pro lineup, including the 4Runner, Tundra and Tacoma models. For the MY2019, all three members of the TRD Pro family return featuring all-new and bespoke 2.5-inch Fox Internal Bypass shocks, tuned specifically for each model. The new off-road Fox shock absorbers feature an aluminum body and 46mm pistons but instead of having an external bypass tube to fine-tune damping pressure, they incorporate multiple bypass zones inside of the shock. According to Toyota, the new shocks offer “a cushioned, plush ride during typical operation but get progressively stiffer through the shock stroke to provide excellent bottoming resistance”. Front shocks are paired with specially-tuned TRD springs to optimize ride comfort and provide the necessary ground clearance. Toyota has three off-roaders lined up for the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, which opens in two weeks from now, on February 8. However, nothing is known about them so far, except that they’re the “next batch of trail-ready four-wheels”, but zooming in on the picture that accompanies the announcement reveals the 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra. This probably means that all three vehicles have received some off-road enhancements, as part of what could be an updated TRD Pro Series Accessories package. Depending on the selected model, the package currently includes special shock absorbers, tuned front springs, skid plates, exhaust system, unique alloy wheels, floor mats, and shift knobs. If this turns out to be the case, then expect to see the Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner, equipped with their potentially updated TRD Pro Series features, in showrooms in the coming months. Toyota almost broke the internet today, revealing no less than 30 vehicles for this year’s SEMA show, and these are six of the most extreme builds.  In the Japanese car maker’s own words, each project either honors the past, explores the present, or reveals the future, being one of the biggest exhibits in the event’s history. That said, here are the vehicles Toyota took out of their comfort zone with a plethora of modifications. The   Land Speed Cruiser   may look like a lowered, slightly  modified Land Cruiser , but it actually takes the notion of the big SUV and throws it in the bin. Unlike its road-going counterpart, this concept was built for pure speed – hence the name – which may explain its 2000 hp 3UR-FE 5.7-liter V8 under the hood.
