Cadillac is transitioning to an electric-only brand and that process is underway as the company has unveiled the 2023 Lyriq. Previewed by last year’s thinly-veiled concept, the production model is the “culmination of a century of innovation and the beginning of a great new era.” As you can see, the 2023 Lyriq closely echoes the concept as it features a black crystal grille with an illuminated emblem as well as lights that activate in choreographed sequences. The model also has “slim-line” LED headlights and a lightly revised front bumper. Moving further back, we can see flush-mounted door handles and conventional side mirrors. While the latter is a change from the concept, the production model retains distinctive taillights which wraparound the side of the vehicle and continue up the rear pillar. What’s in a number? A lot when they happen to be 668, 659 and 200+. Those are the headline grabbing numbers associated with the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing, which is the most powerful Cadillac ever created. Starting under the hood, there’s an upgraded version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that powered the CTS-V. It features Rotocast aluminum cylinder heads, titanium intake valves, and a “track-capable wet-sump oiling and vent system with an external oil separator and drain-back.” There’s also a revised exhaust system and an improved intake which provides 46% better airflow. Thanks to these modifications, the hand-built engine produces an impressive 668 hp (498 kW / 677 PS) and 659 lb-ft (893 lb-ft) of torque. That’s 28 hp (21 kW / 28 PS) and 29 lb-ft (39 Nm) more than the CTS-V. Cadillac is building on the success of the CT4-V by introducing the all-new CT4-V Blackwing. Featuring “incredible power and luxurious craftsmanship,” the CT4-V Blackwing is the highly anticipated successor to the ATS-V. It has a lot in common with its predecessor including a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6. However, the engine doesn’t carryover as engineers have made a number of improvements. Among the changes are new control system software, revised crankshaft counterweights and an improved air intake that reduces restriction by 39 percent. The turbine wheels also feature titanium-aluminide construction for “more precise and responsive application of torque throughout the rev range,” while the piston oil squirters have been re-targeted for improved temperature control. Thanks to all these changes, the twin-turbo V6 produces 472 hp (352 kW / 479 PS) and 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) of torque. If one model defines a brand, you’d be hard pressed to find a more fitting example than Cadillac and the Escalade. Introduced over 20 years ago, the Escalade went from a rebadged GMC Yukon Denali to an American status symbol embraced by everyone from rappers to business executives. However, the SUV has lost some of its luster as other luxury brands have slowly entered the segment. Cadillac is now fighting back with an all-new Escalade that is far more luxurious and differentiated than its predecessor. That being said, the redesigned model also benefits from the improvements made to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. The Escalade is known for its somewhat brash appearance, but the fifth-generation model tones things down as it features an all-new design that follows in the footsteps of the XT6. In one fell swoop, Cadillac has unveiled the 2020 CT4- and CT5-V. Set to be launched early next year, the models build on the legacy of the original CTS-V but eschew V8 engines and high horsepower ratings. First and foremost, the CT4-V previews the all-new CT4 which will be unveiled in about a month. It follows in the footsteps of the CT5 and CT5-V as it adopts a familiar front fascia with a prominent mesh grille that is flanked by slender headlights and vertical daytime running lights. Moving further back, the sports sedan has sleek and angular lines which echo the rest of the Cadillac lineup. The model also has a small rear spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system. Cadillac revealed a common ATS and CTS replacement, the CT5, last month ahead of its public debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, without going into much detail about the car. Now, GM’s premium brand has released a full specs sheet of the CT5, allowing us to have a better understanding of what it is. According to Caddy, the CT5 will be classified as a compact sedan, even though its mid-size saloon dimensions would have you think it’s positioned to take on the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. The 2020 CT5 measures 193.8 inches (4,924 mm) in length, 74.1 inches (1,883 mm) in width and 57.2 inches (1,452 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 116.0 inches (2,947 mm). Despite its Fastback styling, it’s almost as long as a BMW 5-Series, which measures 194.3 inches (4,936 mm) bumper to bumper. While some automakers believe that sedans have no future in today’s SUV-saturated market, Cadillac is still betting on premium saloons and has just unveiled the all-new CT5. Serving as a replacement for both the ATS and the CTS, it slots under the CT6 and has just made an online appearance, prior to its 2019 New York Auto Show premiere that’s set for next month. The modern Cadillac styling language is present, although with a few unique touches inspired by the Escala Concept. As a result, the CT5 comes with a pair of slim headlights, vertical DRLs and muscular lines that run across the length of the hood. It also has a sporty profile with the slightly sloping roofline. When it will go on sale later this year, the CT5 will be available in two trim levels, Sport and Luxury.
