VW has revealed the new ID. Roomzz concept at a special event in the run-up to the Shanghai Auto Show, which opens its gates on April 18. The latest member of the electric-only ID family previews the brand’s flagship electric three-row SUV that’s set to arrive in the market in 2021. The VW ID. VW Drops New Images Of Shanghai-Bound ID Crossover Concept

Image
The latest member of Volkswagen's electric vehicle family bears the ID moniker and will rest under the spotlight at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. However, before it debuts in China next Wednesday, the German automotive giant continues the teasing game, which started yesterday when they partially revealed its rear end. Two more images depict its front fascia, with its C-shaped headlamps joined by a thin light strip, bulky hood, and its generously sized fixed sunroof, respectively, which seems to have the ability of becoming opaque, at the touch of a button. Zoom in past what seems to be a roof-mounted plug, used to charge the batteries that provide the juice to the electric powertrain, and two individual seats become visible, separated by an armrest, but that's as much as the company is willing to reveal so far. Volkswagen's latest zero-emission study, which is said to combine elements from a four-door coupe and an SUV, is part of the brand's plan of launching ...

Volkswagen Teases New Shanghai-Bound ID Crossover Coupe Concept

Image
Volkswagen has been preparing us all for the launch of “a new range of avant-garde electric vehicles” with a steady stream of ID concepts. First came the ID in Paris last year, then the ID Buzz concept in Detroit. Now it's preparing to unveil a new crossover coupe concept in Shanghai, releasing this teaser to keep us on our toes. The as-yet unnamed ID crossover concept is said to combine the forms of a four-door coupe and sport-utility vehicle – sorta like a BMW X6 or Mercedes GLE Coupe, we'd imagine, but with a VW badge and a fully electric powertrain. Designed to be just as at home in the city as it is off the beaten path, the crossover concept is slated to incorporate full autonomous capabilities and “a long driving range on the same level of the range of today's petrol powered cars.” The autonomous mode – enabled by lasers, radar, ultrasonic sensors, and cameras – is activated by simply depressing the VW emblem on the steering wheel, after which the wheel retra...

Volkswagen Teases New ID Concept For Detroit, Looks Like The Microbus

Image
Volkswagen has dropped the first teasers for a new concept it has in store for the fast-approaching 2017 Detroit Auto Show. And while it's not telling us much about what form it will take, it would appear to be  the new electric Microbus we've been waiting for . Characterized as “a multi-functional vehicle for a new era,” the concept promises to tie together “the legendary origins of the Volkswagen brand and its electrifying future.” An electric Microbus would seem to fit the description perfectly, especially judging from the accompanying trio of teaser images. The concept follows  the previous ID electric hatchback concept  showcased in Paris just a few months ago and shares the same underpinnings, called the Modular Electric Drive Kit (and referred to by its German initials MEB). It's slated to incorporate two electric motors and all-wheel drive, as well as fully autonomous capabilities that orchestrates the use of laser scanners, radar, ultrasonic sensors, and camer...
