Holden Brings The Equinox To Australia

Image
Holden, in case you haven't noticed, doesn't manufacture automobiles anymore. It just brings in other GM products from elsewhere and sells them in Australia with lion badges on the nose. And the latest is the Equinox. Sold as a Chevrolet in America, the Equinox has now arrived Down Under as a Holden, offered in an array of trims and specifications ranging from $27,990 all the way up to $46,290 (in Australian dollars). That's a big range,  spread across a staggering escalation of six trim levels, separated by equipment levels and powertrain options. The base model comes with a 1.5-liter turbo four mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The larger 2.0-liter turbo engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic, and there'll be a 1.6-liter diesel arriving next year (following the gasoline models that roll out next month). Adaptive all-wheel drive is available on the penultimate LTZ model, and comes standard on the top LTZ-V. US pricing, in case y...

All-New 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Gets 1.6L Diesel Alongside 1.5L & 2.0L Turbo Gas Engines

The long-awaited  next generation of Chevrolet’s Equinox  is here with the popular compact crossover surprising us with the availability of a diesel engine.  Redesigned from the ground up, Chevy’s second bestselling vehicle takes its more sculpted styling cues from Chevy’s most recent  introductions like the Cruze , Volt  and Malibu .  It might not rewrite the design rulebook, but it’s a big step up from the dated current model that has been around since 2010, especially inside where it benefits from all the latest tech advancements such as the availability of 7- and 8-inch MyLink infotainment systems supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other new elements that made their way inside the 2018 model is a highly durable denim-style seat fabric, and a new “kneeling” rear seat that enhances functionality by tilting the bottom cushions forward when the split-folding seatbacks are lowered, thus allowing for a flat loading floor. In regards to safety ...

Chevy Reshapes 2018 Equinox To Take On RAV4, CR-V And Escape

Image
One of GM’s bestselling vehicles in America, the Chevrolet Equinox, is getting a long-overdue successor in early 2017. The Chevy SUV will shrink in size for a better fitment in the bow tie brand’s range as well as to compete more directly against popular compact models  like Honda’s CR-V , instead of floating in-between categories.  It’s part of a broader crossover re-sizing strategy from General Motors that will result in creating some space between the compact Equinox and the  next full-size 8-seater Traverse  to squeeze in a  new mid-size model .  Similar actions are being taken across GM brands, with the new  GMC Acadia shrinking in size  and becoming a 5-7 seater mid-size crossover to compete with the likes of Nissan’s Pathfinder, while the Equinox’s GMC twin, will also scale down.  Spied here in Colorado by our reader-extraordinaire  Brett Borgard , the heavily disguised 2018 Chevrolet Equinox adopts a more stylish silhouette th...
