2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Drops Flamboyant Rear Wing, Keeps Manual

Image
In keeping with tradition, Porsche has expanded the trim lineup of an already expanded model lineup with the introduction of a new member of the 911 GT3 sub-family, the 911 GT3 Touring. Whereas other companies may have just offered a rear-wing delete option, Porsche thinks it deserves its own nameplate. Described as a “subtler choice that retains every ounce of the excitement, the feel and the performance you expect”, the GT3 Touring is available as a no-cost equipment package. Beyond getting rid of the huge fixed rear wing in favor of a hidden, automatically extending rear spoiler, the only other differences over the regular GT3 concern some minor trim changes, including the aluminum window outlines, the Touring badges, and a color-coded front spoiler (instead of being blacked out). Inside, the GT3 Touring gets extended leather upholstery while the front of the dashboard and the upper side sections of the door trim panels have special surface embossing. Everything else is the same as ...

New Manual-Only Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package Offers More For Free

Porsche continues to prove that it’s a master creator of niches with yet another new edition of their 911 based on the GT3, the Touring Package (TP). It borrows its name from an equipment variant of the 911 Carrera RS from 1973. Available exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the new 911 GT3 Touring Package follows close on the heels of the similarly fashioned 911 R. However, unlike the latter that was limited to just 991 units resulting in outrageous prices in the used car market this one will be produced as a regular model. While maintaining the same naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat six with 500PS (493hp) and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft) as the original 911 GT3 that results in a 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 3.9 sec and a top speed of 316 km/h (196mph) or 2mph less than the standard car, the TP is less extreme offering more equipment for the same price. On the outside, it loses the recently facelifted GT3’s jumbo-sized rear wing gaining a more understated look with the regu...

Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Pack Images Leak Ahead Of Frankfurt Unveiling

Image
By staying faithful to the 991.2 GT3 while adding the rear wing and diffuser from a 911 R, Porsche have managed to build their sleekest-ever GT3 model. Dubbed the 911 GT3 Touring Package, the car will ultimately look to provide a better "daily-driver experience" for Porsche owners, than its GT3 and 911 R siblings. As for these images, while they were originally taken down from Autopresse, Instagram car page porschegt_nl still managed to grab hold of them, as well as some of the information found in the leaked article. According to them, this latest 911 will be available with a manual gearbox only, mated to a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat six, putting down 500 horses, just like in the regular GT3. Top speed is said to be rated at 316 km/h (196 mph), which is a bit down from the GT3's 318 km/h (198 mph). Inside, this model features an all-black layout with part cloth, part leather seats seemingly. At the same time, we can't quite tell what...
