The 2020 Aston Martin DBX Is A Stunning Utility Vehicle With 542 HP

After months of development and teasing, the long-awaited 2020 Aston Martin DBX has landed with the official images showing the luxury performance crossover in full. Back in September, Aston Martin confirmed what engine would power its SUV. This engine takes the shape of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter AMG V8 delivering 542 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque and is the same basic unit as used by the Vantage and DB11 V8. It does have more grunt than either of those two models, however. The sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) is dealt with in 4.5 seconds and the SUV will continue through to a 181 mph (291 km/h) top speed. Paired to the engine is a nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission working with an all-wheel drive system with active differentials including an active central differential and a rear limited-slip differential that shuffles torque between the wheels. Aston Martin Gets To Work On The DBX Crossover

It’s been over three and a half years now since since Aston Martin revealed the DBX concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, previewing its first crossover. Now the British automaker has released a video and a batch of photos of a prototype testing on gravel. Contrary to earlier reports, Aston has confirmed that the production model will indeed carry the name DBX, with the first two letters connecting it in to the line of sports cars that stretches back to the David Brown era, and the X designating it as a crossover. But as expected, it’s adopted a more conventional greenhouse shape, with five doors instead of the concept‘s three. While the prototype shown in these images and video clip is still all wrapped up in trompe-l’Å“il camouflage, it’s obvious that it bears similarities to the brand’s latest sports cars, like the Vantage, DB11, and DBS Superleggera – just looking at the grille anyone would understand it’s an Aston.
