2021 Toyota Sienna Is All-New, All-Hybrid

Image
Toyota has lifted the veils off the all-new 2021 Sienna minivan, the fourth-generation of the popular nameplate. Designed, engineered and assembled in the United States, the 2021 Toyota Sienna adopts a bolder design that’s inline with the brand’s latest models, comes with a standard hybrid powertrain and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite, and offers available all-wheel drive. Based on the TNGA-K platform, the fourth-gen Sienna features a more daring design that Toyota says is influenced by SUVs and Japan’s Shinkansen ‘bullet train’. The minivan sports strong and robust proportions thanks to the shoulder-themed body design, muscular wheel flares and boldly sculpted surfaces. The front end features high-set headlights that interact with the small upper grille via chrome trim and the bold lower grille via the creases at their center. At the back, the 2021 Toyota Sienna sports LED taillights with an integrated black canard that’s said to improve aerodynamic performance, as well as ...

Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV Heralds Electric V-Class Arriving This Fall

Image
Mercedes-Benz has lifted the veils off the Concept EQV, an all-electric version of its V-Class minivan which is ready for production. The automaker has confirmed the production model will be on display at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. With the Concept EQV, Mercedes says it is opening up a new segment for electric vehicles, that of premium MPVs. The EQV pairs a 150 kW (204 PS/201 hp) electric motor mounted on the front axle with a 100 kWh battery pack for a range of 400 km (248 miles). The electric people carrier features a so-called compact electric drivetrain (eATS) consisting of the electric motor, the transmission with fixed ratios, the cooling system, and the power electronics — all on the front axle. The 100 kWh lithium-ion battery ensures a “realistic” maximum range of 400 km (248 miles) and provides enough energy to allow the EQV to sustain a top speed of 160 km/h (99 mph). Mercedes also offers a rapid charging function that gives the battery enough juice to cove...

2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter To Debut On February 6

Image
Except for a few updates, the current Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been around in its current form since 2006, but that’s all about to change in a few days as a new generation is fast approaching. Teased on social media, the third generation light commercial vehicle will be unveiled next Tuesday, on February 6, in Duisburg, Germany, promising to be better overall than its predecessor. On the outside, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter appears to have evolved, with plenty of changes made at the front, including new headlights and a generously-sized grille, with a large 3-pointed star logo taking center stage. Elsewhere, the light commercial vehicle, expected to arrive as a passenger van, cargo van, and cab chassis, will be a bit more aerodynamic compared to the current models, and this can be seen in spy shots and previous teasers. The interior of the van was already revealed last month, and it gets a significant overhaul, with a new infotainment system sitting in the middle...

New Boxy Toyota Tj Cruiser Concept Revealed

Image
Toyota is looking to appeal to those who would like the roominess of a cargo van and the powerful design of an SUV stuffed together in one vehicle, with the new Tj Cruiser Concept. Designed "for drivers with lifestyles where work and play dovetail seamlessly", according to the manufacturer, the study's Tj initials stand for 'Toolbox' and 'joy', while the 'Cruiser' has a long tradition with Toyota. It features a boxy design, special coating used on the hood, roof, and fenders to protect them against scratches and dirt, sturdy suspension, and 20-inch wheels, wrapped in chunky tires, which, combined with the on-demand all-wheel drive system will help it get out of some muddy situations. Understanding why Toyota's designers chose this weird shape means checking out the cabin, and to do so, you can either use the regular front doors, or the sliding rear ones that provide better access inside. The show car's front and rear passe...

Mansory Takes Aim At Brabus With Custom Benzes In Geneva

Image
Mansory has been known to apply its skills, such as they are, to a wide variety of vehicles. But out of the eight show cars it has brought to Geneva this year, no fewer than three are based on Mercedes – each of a very different type. The most visually imposing of the three is called the Gronos Black Desert, based on the high-riding G500 4x4² – as if the portal-axle truck needed any help in that department. Still, Mansory has given it the full widebody treatment, somewhat incongruously bridging those giant fenders with enhanced aerodynamic elements – all made in-house out of carbon fiber. It has also massaged the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 for an extra 62 horsepower, and fitted a set of forged alloys. Along with it, Mansory is getting in on the action in customizing the V-Class into a “first class lounge for on-the-road.” The show van features a two-tone paintjob with additional aero components, as well as an enhanced powertrain. But the real difference here is felt inside, where...

New Citroen SpaceTourer 4X4 Ë Concept Is A Cool All-Terrain Van

Image
Citroen will debut the  new SpaceTourer  4X4 Ë Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, which is basically a more adventurous version of the French van. Based on the  smaller XS bodystyle , the new SpaceTourer 4X4 Ë Concept features an all-wheel drive system along with a more rugged appearance, courtesy of its special front and rear protective skid plates, roof bars and wheels which come fitted with snow chains for some reason.  The cabin also gets a special layout with a warm design theme, with the seats dressed in white leather and grey alcantara. The SpaceTourer 4X4 Ë Concept offers seating for up to nine people, depending on the cabin configuration.  Under the bonnet sits the company’s BlueHDi 150 diesel engine, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. Citroen says that this prototype all-wheel drive system is also feasible for application on the regular production model as well, but didn’t say if they are indeed going to put into production.
