BMW introduced the redesigned M3 and M4 last fall, and now the company has dropped the top on the new M4 Competition Convertible Set to arrive in the United States this October, the high-performance convertible has a familiar twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system that only sends power to the front wheels when additional traction is needed. The system has 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD modes, and the latter offers a classic rear-wheel drive experience. Thanks to the powerful engine and all-wheel drive system, the M4 Competition Convertible rockets from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. BMW has taken the wraps off the new M8 Gran Coupe. Set to arrive in the United States early next year, the high-performance model follows in the footsteps of the M8 Coupe and Convertible. As a result, the car is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission which sends power to a rear-biased and defeatable all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the M8 Gran Coupe to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of up to 190 mph (305 km/h) when equipped with the optional M Driver’s Package. Buyers looking for more performance can order the M8 Competition Gran Coupe. It features an upgraded engine that develops 616 hp (460 kW / 625 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. The 2018 BMW M5 is a formidable beast as it packs all-wheel drive and 600 PS (441 kW / 592 hp) but the company is upping the ante by unveiling the new M5 Competition. Starting under the hood, the model has a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 625 PS (460 kW / 617 hp). This is an increase of 25 PS (19 kW / 24 hp) but the torque figure remains unchanged at 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). Thanks to the extra power, the M5 Competition runs from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 10.8 seconds. Compared to the standard model, these are improvements of 0.1 and 0.3 seconds. Like the standard M5, the M5 Competition is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system which works in conjunction with the car’s Active M Differential. There’s little doubt that the new BMW M5 is one heck of an impressive piece of machine. But it’ll be even more impressive once the Competition Package becomes available. The Bavarian automaker may not be quite ready to reveal the specs of that package to the world. But that’s alright, because a full array of details have now found their way online thanks to the fanboys on Bimmerpost. And they paint a much clearer picture than what we’ve seen and heard to date. For starters, the Competition Package is said to offer an extra 25 horsepower and 37 lb-ft of torque. (That’s 19 kW and 50 Nm for those on the metric system.) And that’ll bring total output up to 625 hp (466 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. After several high-profile leaks, BMW has officially unveiled the 2019 M2 Competition. Looking instantly recognizable, the model replaces the previous M2 Coupe and features a modestly revised front fascia with a larger grille to help improve cooling. Additional styling changes are limited but the car has aerodynamic mirror caps, a black chrome exhaust system and restyled 19-inch wheels featuring Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The interior largely carries but there’s new M Sport seats that feature an illuminated M2 logo on the backrest. Drivers will also find a red push-button ignition and a sport steering wheel with M buttons which can store custom performance settings. Other highlights include “M2 Competition” sill plates, Alcantara accents and special seat belts which have BMW M stripes woven into them.
