This year’s Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance will host an all-new Ultimate Series McLaren model, a yet-unnamed two-seat, open cockpit roadster. The British automaker says that the new model will debut in late 2020 and that production will be limited to just 399 cars. Meanwhile, its price tag should see it positioned somewhere between the McLaren Senna ($958,966) and the Speedtail (£2.1 million GBP). Speaking of these two, while the Senna is focused on being the ultimate road-legal track car, and the Speedtail is all about high-speed aerodynamic efficiency, the new roadster will look to offer “the purest distillation of road-focused driving pleasure and an unrivaled sense of driver connection with the surrounding environment.” In terms of styling and performance, we can expect elegant sweeping lines and low-profile dihedral doors to serve as eye candy, while the carbon fiber construction and twin-turbocharged V8 engine will take care of the rest. The Bugatti Centodieci might have slipped out early, but the company has officially unveiled the new hypercar in Pebble Beach. Starting with performance specs, the Centodieci has an 8.0-liter W16 engine that produces a staggering 1,578 hp (1,176 kW / 1,600 PS). This is 99 hp (74 kW / 100 PS) more than the Chiron. Thanks to the extra power, the model can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.4 seconds. Keeping the accelerator pinned to the floor will see 124 mph (200 km/h) arrive in 6.1 seconds, while 186 mph (300 km/h) comes 7 seconds later. Given enough room, the Centodieci will eventually top out at an electronically limited 236 mph (380 km/h). The performance tweaks don’t stop there as the Centodieci weighs 44 lbs (20 kg) less than the Chiron. This was made possible by an assortment of changes including the use of a lightweight windshield wiper and stabilizers that were built out of carbon fiber. Monterey Car Week continues as Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the new Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster. Following in the footsteps of last year’s SVJ 63 coupe, the roadster is a limited edition supercar that pays tribute to the company’s founding in 1963. Jointly created by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile and Ad Personam teams, the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster will be available in eight exclusive “design expressions.” Each will feature matte or shiny carbon fiber on the windshield frame, engine cover and roof. The car also has an SVJ 63 livery and special Leirion forged wheels with a matte titanium finish. Interior changes are minor, but drivers will find carbon fiber trim, CarbonSkin accents and one of three different Alcantara color schemes.  There’s also individually numbered badges. Drako Motors has unveiled their first car at The Quail. Billed as the culmination of nearly a decade of work, the GTE is an ultra-luxury sedan that is based on the old Fisker Karma. Despite this, the model is not a copycat as it features a new front end with slender headlights, a carbon fiber hood and large air intakes. The sides largely carry over, but now come with sportier side skirts and hidden door handles. Bigger changes can be found at the rear in the form of a massive diffuser and a small trunk with an integrated spoiler. Power comes from a 90 kWh battery pack that feeds no less than four electric motors, which produce a combined output of 1,200 HP (895 kW / 1,217 PS) and 6,491 lb-ft (8,800 Nm) of torque. Drako didn’t mention the car’s range or 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time, but did say that the GTE has a top speed of 206 mph (332 km/h). What do you get when you give the designer of the iconic Mazda Furai Concept a Lamborghini Gallardo and free reign to create a bespoke supercar? The answer is this: the Salaff C2. Unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, it is the brainchild of Carlos Salaff, an American automotive designer responsible for recognizable Mazdas like the Nagare, Furai, Mazda3 and MX-5. After working for a number of established automakers, Salaff has decided to go it alone in creating his own supercar company, and the C2 is his first production model. Using the Gallardo as its base, the vehicle has been outfitted with bespoke interior and exterior parts. Starting with the exterior, it bears absolutely no resemblance to the Gallardo. Up front is a very square fascia complete with long, triangular headlights that stretch along the very edges of the bodywork. The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider has unexpectedly launched at Pebble Beach, offering customers all the driving thrills of the regular Pista but with the added experience of a removable hardtop. Like the 488 Pista coupe, the Pista Spider is powered by a truly brutal twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 engine delivering 711 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. Consequently, the Pista Spider achieves the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 2.85 seconds, exactly the same as its sibling. If drivers have enough room, the car can reach 124 mph (200 km/h) from a standstill in 8 seconds, 0.4 seconds slower than the coupe and continue through to a 211 mph (340 km/h) top speed. The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider tips the scales at just 3036 lbs (1377 kg) dry and is roughly 200 lbs (91 kg) heavier than the coupe. SSC North America has used the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to unveil the 2019 Tuatara. Looking virtually identical to the concept that was unveiled over seven years ago, the production Tuatara has a sleek carbon fiber body that allows the model to have a drag coefficient of 0.279. The company says this is significantly lower than competitors such as the Bugatti Chiron (0.36), Koenigsegg Agera (0.33) and Hennessey Venom F5 (0.33). Overall, the car measures 174.4 inches (4429 mm) long, 78.4 inches (1991 mm) wide and 43 inches (1092 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 105.2 inches (2672 mm). The extensive use of carbon fiber also allows the model to have dry weight of 2750 lbs (1247 kg). SSC North America hasn’t released detailed specifications, but the company confirmed the Tuatara will be powered by a twin-turbo 5.9-liter V8 engine which features an 8800 rpm redline and an 8.8:1 compression ratio. Presented during Monterey Car Week, the Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow Concept has been created as a homage to the record-breaking Mercedes W125 from 1937. Penned by Mercedes-Benz chief design officer Gorden Wagener, the EQ Silver Arrow Concept epitomizes the firm’s ‘Sensual Purity’ design philosophy and provides seating for just one person. The vehicle’s entire body is made of lightweight carbon fiber and all up, it measures 5.3 meters (17.3 feet) long and is finished in a shade dubbed Alubeam Silver. Up front, you’ll notice a strip of light attaching the two headlights as well as an illuminated EQ badge at the front end. A lighting strip is also found stretching the length of the side skirts where another EQ badge is located. The Bugatti Divo was one of the most highly-anticipated cars headed to Pebble Beach and now the automaker has finally unveiled the model. Designed to revive the company’s tradition of coachbuilding, the Divo features a unique design which shares little with the Chiron. A lot of the styling changes focused on improving aerodynamics and Bugatti says the modifications have resulted in an additional 90 kg (198 lbs) of downforce. Starting up front, the Divo has been equipped with a new front fascia featuring larger air intakes and a wider front spoiler. These changes help to significantly improve downforce and cooling. Speaking of the latter, the brakes are cooled by “four independent air sources on each side of the vehicle: air flows in from the high-pressure area above the front bumper, the inlets on the front wings, one inlet on the front radiator and the diffusers ahead of the tires.” Designers even paid special attention to the roof and created it in such a way that i...
