2020 Audi S6 & S7: America Gets ‘Em With 444hp 2.9 TFSI, Europe With 344hp V6 Diesel

Image
Audi has unveiled the new S6, S6 Avant and S7 Sportback. Starting under the hood, Europeans get an electrified 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine that produces 344 hp (257 kW / 349 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. It is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to a quattro all-wheel drive system. In terms of performance, the S6 TDI Sedan can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.0 seconds. The S6 Avant and S7 Sportback can accomplish the same task in 5.1 seconds. While the latter models are a bit slower off the line, all three are limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Those figures aren’t earth shattering, but the cars are pretty thrifty at the pump. According to Audi, fuel consumption ratings range from 6.2 L/100 km (37.9 mpg US / 45.5 mpg UK) to 6.5 L/100km (36.1 mpg US / 43.4 mpg UK). Likewise, CO2 emissions range from 164-171 g/km depending on the model and its tires / wheels. In other markets – including Asia, the Middle East ...

New South Wales Police Roll Out Audi S7 Sportback

Image
The New South Wales Police Force has just taken delivery of a specially-equipped Audi S7 Sportback which will be used in a selection of community and youth engagement programs. The  S7 Sportback  has been lent to the Lake Illawarra Area Command and will be used for 12 months,  replacing the RS4 Avant  previously used by the department.  To make the car stand out on the street, it has been adorned in a unique livery selected by Facebook fans on the Audi Australia page last year. The livery consists of a blue and white chequered pattern on the lower third of the body as well as numerous police decals, including links to the department's social media pages. Discussing the car, managing director of Audi Australia Andrew Doyle said “The Audi S7 Sportback has a striking presence, thanks to its sophisticated design and the sound of its extraordinary twin-turbo V8 engine, and so it is perfectly suited to making an impact at the various events it will attend throughou...

Saleen S7 LM Returns In Limited Edition Packing 1,000 HP

Image
Remember the  Saleen S7 ? How could you not: it was one of the greatest supercars America has ever made. And now it's coming back. Principally known for  tuning Mustangs  (among  others ), Saleen launched its own supercar at the turn of the millennium. Capable of taking on the best that Europe has to offer, the mid-engined exotic was powered by a 7.0-liter V8 and famously produced enough downforce to (theoretically) allow it to drive upside down on the roof of a tunnel at 160 miles per hour. In naturally aspirated form and with 550 horsepower on tap, it could hit 60 in 3.3 seconds and top out at 220 mph. An even more powerful twin-turbo version followed with 750 hp that could, according to the manufacturer, reach 248 mph, passing 60 along the way in 2.8 seconds and covering the quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds. All good things come to an end, however, and Saleen stopped making the S7 in 2009. Plans for a followup called the  S5S Raptor  never reached the pro...
