2022 Genesis G80 Sport Unveiled With Styling Tweaks And Rear-Wheel Steering

Image
This is our first look at the 2022 Genesis G80 Sport with a slightly more dynamic design than the standard model. Ever since the latest-generation G80 was unveiled, there has been speculation that Genesis would launch a Sport variant, as that’s exactly what it did with the previous G80. While technical specifications about the new model haven’t been announced, these images showcase a number of unique features. Found at the front of the 2022 G80 Sport is a grille finished in dark glossy chrome and a revised front bumper that is sharper and more aggressive than lesser G80s. The dark glossy chrome finish continues across the sides of the luxury sedan. A unique set of 20-inch alloy wheels are also featured as are brake calipers available in black and red. Alterations are less apparent at the rear but do include dark glossy chrome on the tailgate. There’s also a new bumper and a subtle diffuser. Buyers of the G80 Sport will be able to order it in an exclusive color dubbed Cavendish Red, nam...

The 2022 Cayenne Turbo GT Is The Fastest And Quickest Porsche SUV Ever Made

Image
Porsche has taken the wraps off their latest addition to the Cayenne Coupe line-up, introducing the new 2022 Cayenne Turbo GT.  The Turbo GT seems to have dropped the “Coupe” from its official moniker, but rest assured it’s a trim level exclusive to the Cayenne Coupe. It’s also the ranger topper for the model, slotting in above both the Turbo and the S E-Hybrid. The unveiling comes just a week ahead of the Cayenne Turbo GT’s first public outing, which will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from the 8th–11th of July. The new car promises to be the fastest-ever production Cayenne and one of the fastest SUVs on offer. The Cayenne Turbo GT retains the four-liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the Turbo Coupe, but does so with a power boost of 90 PS (67 kW/90 HP), giving it a total of 640 PS (471 kW/631 hp). Torque is up by 80 Nm to 850 Nm (626 lb.-ft) too. The bump in power isn’t down to a simple remap, as some may assume. Instead, Porsche has created their most potent eight-cyli...

2022 BMW i4 M50: The First Electric M Car Has 536-HP For About 10 Seconds And A $65,900 Price Tag

Image
BMW took the wraps off the sporty i4 M50 today. The marriage of the i and M subbrands, the car will be the first electric M car ever produced. Well, at least according to the German automaker, as to our ears it sounds more like an M Performance recipe than a thoroughbred M model. Finished in Frozen Portimao Blue and featuring blacked-out trim and carbon fiber add ons, the 2022 BMW i4 M50 promises to bring the visual flair and aggression of the M brand into the brand’s electric future. To ensure it can keep up with the rest of the M lineup, it will offer a combined output of 536 horsepower (544 PS) and 586 lb-ft of torque from its two electric motors, including a 255hp front and 308hp rear motor, controlled by a single speed transmission. However, note that those peak figures are achieved momentarily through a Sport Boost function that increases the system’s combined drive power by 67 hp and torque by 48 lb-ft for a little over 10 seconds. Otherwise, combined output is reduced to 469 hp...

2022 Bentley Bentayga S Debuts With Sportier Styling, V8 Power And Plenty Of Alcantara

Image
The Bentley Bentayga lineup is expanding as the company has introduced a new S variant that joins the existing standard V8, plug-in hybrid and W12-powered flagship models. Designed to deliver “heightened agility and presence,” the Bentayga S features a sportier exterior with tinted lighting units, gloss black accents and a larger rear spoiler for increased aerodynamic stability at speed. Elsewhere, there’s a free-flowing sports exhaust system that delivers “enhanced character and volume” for a “more performance-oriented feel.” It’s joined by 22-inch wheels which are available in three different finishes. They’re silver painted as standard, but gloss black and black / bright polished finishes are also available. The sporty styling continues in the cabin as designers added “fluted” seats with embroidered S logos on the backrests. The model also boasts unique trim, illuminated treadplates and a digital instrument cluster sourced from the Bentayga Speed. Of course, the most noticeable chan...

VW ID.4 GTX Is A Performance EV With 295 HP And AWD That Hits 62 MPH In 6.2 Sec

Image
Volkswagen has given the ID.4 electric SUV a 91 hp power boost and resurrected an old badge for its sportiest ID model yet. The 295hp ID.4 GTX sits above the 201 hp ID.4 that’s just arrived in showrooms, and can sprint from zero to 62mph more than 2 seconds faster. This extra punch hasn’t come from simply up-sizing the rear motor. While the standard ID.4 gets by with a single 201 hp motor driving the rear wheels, the GTX gets the same setup, but adds a second motor to the front axle for a total of 295hp (Volkswagen doesn’t specify a torque figure). In addition to dropping the 62mph time from 8.5 seconds to 6.2 seconds, VW has also raised the electronic speed limiter from 99mph to 112mph. Neither of those figures is going to give a Golf R sleepless nights, but they do instantly answer one of our biggest ID.4 gripes: it’s big on sensible, but short on sizzle next to rivals like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y. Entry-level ID.4s in some markets get a 58 kWh battery, but the GTX ...

Hyundai Kona N Debuts As A Track-Capable Crossover With Up To 286 HP

Image
Hyundai’s N sub-brand has been a hit with enthusiasts, but its appeal has been limited due to a lineup that consists of the i20 N, i 30 N and Veloster N. All three are cars and consumers want crossovers. Hyundai is now acknowledging the obvious as they’ve taken the wraps off the all-new Kona N. Set to become the first N crossover, the model promises to provide a “winning combination of versatility, spirited acceleration, agility and racetrack readiness.” Given its intentions, we’ll start under the hood where buyers will find a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 276 hp (206 kW / 280 PS) and 289 lb-ft (392 Nm) of torque. However, this can temporarily be increased to 286 hp (213 kW / 290 PS) by using the N Grin Shift function. The engine is connected to an eight-speed dual clutch transmission, which features a wet design as well as numerous modifications for high-performance use. Among the changes are specially-tuned gear ratios and a uniquely calibrated control unit that ...

2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance Brings Naturally Aspirated, 472 HP V8 Thrills To America

Image
When it was updated for the 2021 model year, people accused the IS 350 F Sport of needing a little more engine. Well, Lexus has listened. The brand announced that it is stuffing its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 under the hood of its smallest (North American) sedan and calling it the IS 500 F Sport Performance. Needless to say, this mechanical set-up is a dying breed in the age of smaller, force-fed or even electrified engines, and if anything, Lexus deserves our praise for giving it what could very well turn out to be a last hurrah. So strained is the IS to contain the engine’s heft that the hood has been raised two inches to accommodate it. Despite making 160 more horses than the V6, though, the 3,891-pound IS 500 weighs just 143 lbs more than the IS 350. The engine, which you may recognize from the RC F, makes 472 HP at 7,100 rpm and 395 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. That’s around about the same amount as the base M3, which gets 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque out of its twin-turb...

2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Has A 6-Speed Manual And More Power Than The BMW M5 CS

Image
What’s in a number? A lot when they happen to be 668, 659 and 200+. Those are the headline grabbing numbers associated with the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing, which is the most powerful Cadillac ever created. Starting under the hood, there’s an upgraded version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that powered the CTS-V. It features Rotocast aluminum cylinder heads, titanium intake valves, and a “track-capable wet-sump oiling and vent system with an external oil separator and drain-back.” There’s also a revised exhaust system and an improved intake which provides 46% better airflow. Thanks to these modifications, the hand-built engine produces an impressive 668 hp (498 kW / 677 PS) and 659 lb-ft (893 lb-ft) of torque. That’s 28 hp (21 kW / 28 PS) and 29 lb-ft (39 Nm) more than the CTS-V. It’s also worth noting the CT5-V Blackwing blows the competition out of the water as the BMW M3 Competition has 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque, while the Mercedes-AMG C63 S packs 503 hp (...

The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Packs A 472 HP Twin-Turbo Punch For $59,990

Image
Cadillac is building on the success of the CT4-V by introducing the all-new CT4-V Blackwing. Featuring “incredible power and luxurious craftsmanship,” the CT4-V Blackwing is the highly anticipated successor to the ATS-V. It has a lot in common with its predecessor including a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6. However, the engine doesn’t carryover as engineers have made a number of improvements. Among the changes are new control system software, revised crankshaft counterweights and an improved air intake that reduces restriction by 39 percent. The turbine wheels also feature titanium-aluminide construction for “more precise and responsive application of torque throughout the rev range,” while the piston oil squirters have been re-targeted for improved temperature control. Thanks to all these changes, the twin-turbo V6 produces 472 hp (352 kW / 479 PS) and 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) of torque. That’s an increase of 8 hp (6 kW / 8 PS) and it enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in ap...
