The 2022 Honda Civic lineup is expanding as the company has introduced the new hatchback variant. The model unsurprisingly follows in the footsteps of the redesigned sedan and adopts a more mature, if boring for some, design. Of course, it’s not an exact copy as the hatchback is distinguished by an angular liftgate and a unique rear end with an integrated spoiler. The five-door model also features sleeker taillights, which are connected by a thin strip that follows the contours of the spoiler. The rest of the car largely echoes the sedan and there’s a familiar interior with a modern design. Honda has just unveiled the brand new 11th-generation Civic Sedan. Packed full of fresh tech, like a digital instrument panel, Bose sound system, and revised looks inside and out, the new Civic will look to continue its record as one of the best-selling cars in America over the last 48 years. Honda has tried to simplify the appearance of the Civic inside and out. To do that, it returned to the original design philosophy that made the Civics of the ’70s such a success: Man Maximum/Machine Minimum. The M/M maxim has led to a “thin and light” body design according to Honda. They worked hard to simplify the car, which has few design lines, while also making it look more premium. To do that, they did things like move the bottom of the windshield pillars back two inches. That makes the hood look longer, giving it more classic proportions. The new Honda Civic Type R has sparked a lot of controversy with its exaggerated exterior design, so we can only imagine what this pickup truck derivative would do. Created by the brand’s Product Engineering department in the UK and codenamed ‘Project P’, this concept was showcased at the annual SMMT Test Day. It’s based upon a pre-production version of the hot hatch, which had its C-pillars and roof chopped off and replaced by a roll bar. The rear seats and boot have been completely removed, making room for the open bed. As for the interior, this Honda Civic Type R study can sit two. Honda has finally revealed the new Civic SI in both Sedan and Coupe bodystyles, giving us the full details of their new 205hp sporty version. The first turbocharged Si model is positioned right underneath the upcoming Type R, aiming according to Honda to the everyday enthusiast. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol unit with direct injection and dual variable cam timing, producing 205hp and 192lb-ft of peak torque. A short-throw six-speed manual transmission is standard. Given the turbocharged nature of the powertrain, Honda says that the new Civic Si now provides a very exciting driving experience, with more low-end grunt and lots of torque available almost everywhere, with peak torque now sustained in over 70 percent of the rev range. Honda unveiled the new Civic Si coupe back in November last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but that was only a prototype. For the full production model, we’ll have to wait until Thursday when the hotter derivative of the tenth-gen Civic will be unveiled as a road-going car. It’s going to be joined by the yet-to-be-seen sedan in a video scheduled to go live at 8:00 AM (PDT) showing the two cars doing their thing on a track. At the heart of the Si models is going to be a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine — the same one powering the regular Civic. In the punchier Si version, the engineers will massage the four-cylinder unit to squeeze more power. This is the new Honda Civic Type R we've all been waiting for, and it's finally been revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Hot hatch enthusiasts were excited when Honda revived the Civic Type R two years ago. But short lived as it was, that was just a stopgap. Based on the latest tenth-generation Civic, the new Type R packs a 2.0-liter turbo four tuned to deliver 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. That's hardly a big increase over the outgoing model, which boasted the same torque figure with ten fewer horses. Fortunately the new Civic Type R promises to improve in other areas, including a 38% increase in torsional rigidity. The suspension is also retuned “to minimize torque steer and maximize sporty handling,” with a MacPherson strut setup at the front and independent multi-link system at the back. After parading the Civic Type R prototype at various events throughout the globe, Honda will finally pull the cover off the production version in just a few weeks. Announced for the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the hot hatch was developed in parallel with the standard five-door model. However and unlike its lesser sibling, it benefits from a number of enhancements in order to allow it to sit at the same table as the Ford Focus RS and Volkswagen Golf R, among others. Honda continues to keep its performance numbers a secret for now, but the car will feature a 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo petrol engine. Previous intel suggests that this is actually a tweaked version of the lump that powers the outgoing model, massaged to deliver more than the existing 306 horsepower. While much of the world eagerly awaits the debut of the production-spec 2018 Honda  Civic Type R ,  Motor Trend  has learnt that the sporty  Civic Si  will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16. Details about the latest Civic Si remain scarce at this stage. However, it is reported that the model with either use a tuned variant of Honda's  1.5-liter  turbocharged engine or instead, a  detuned version  of the Type R's 2.0-liter turbo'd four. Whatever the case may be, the model will slot perfectly between the current 173 hp, 1.5-liter Civic and the Type R, pumping out between 220 and 230 hp. Joining the new Honda Civic hatchback in a world premiere at the Paris Auto Show is the near-production 2018 Civic Type R Prototype, and this one is coming to North America where the  2017 five door model just landed  at the brand’s US dealerships.
