Say hello to the new Ford Ranger Raptor, an off-road-ready version of the pickup truck that slots under the popular F-150 Raptor. “The Ford Performance team is excited to extend the Raptor name from our flagship off-road performance F-150 to Ranger,” said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance. “Just like the F-150 Raptor, the Ranger Raptor builds upon the core capability of the range of vehicles it comes from and carries the unmistakable Ford Performance DNA appearance.” Powering the Ford Ranger Raptor is a new 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine. It develops 210hp (213PS) and 369lb-ft (500Nm) of torque, pushed to the all-wheel drive system through a 10-speed automatic gearbox that’s co-developed by Ford and GM. Enhancing its go-anywhere abilities are the long-travel Fox suspension with rear coilovers, extra underbody protection, and 17-inch rims shod in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. Hours after Chevrolet introduced the 2019 Silverado, Ford is firing back by unveiling the all-new Ranger. Set to debut at the North American International Auto Show, the Ranger will join the reinvigorated mid-size truck market that is currently being dominated by the Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma. The Ranger's front fascia is dominated by a relatively small grille which can be flanked by optional LED headlights. Designers also installed a bulging hood, front fender vents, and muscular wheels arches. Other styling features include vertical taillights and a tailgate with stamped "RANGER" lettering. Three different trim levels will be available - XL, XLT, and Lariat - and they will be joined by Chrome and Sport appearance packages. Regardless of which trim level is selected, the Ranger will only be offered in SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations. A new Ford Bronco is actually happening, as after  many years of rumors , the Blue Oval officially confirmed the development of the SUV together with the return of the Ranger in North America at the  Detroit Auto Show on Monday . “We’ve heard our customers loud and clear. They want a new generation of vehicles that are incredibly capable yet fun to drive,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of The Americas. “Ranger is for truck buyers who want an affordable, functional, rugged and maneuverable pickup that’s Built Ford Tough. Bronco will be a no-compromise midsize 4x4 utility for thrill seekers who want to venture way beyond the city.” The new iteration of the Bronco SUV will be added to Ford’s global vehicle portfolio in 2020, while the midsize Ranger pickup truck will join the brand’s North American lineup after a long hiatus in 2019.
