Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is set to unveil a new five-year plan later this year and outspoken CEO Sergio Marchionne has provided a few hints at what we can expect. Speaking with Motor Trend, Marchionne confirmed the company still has plans to introduce a crossover that is based on the same platform that underpins the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The executive said the design work has already been completed and everything is ready to go so "We can probably get it up and running in 18 months.” Little is known about the model but the company's original plan called for the full-size crossover to be launched in 2017. It would have be sold as a Chrysler and offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Following the unveiling of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler at the LA Auto Show, head of Jeep, Mike Manley, has confirmed that the new Wrangler will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in 2020. Unfortunately, the automaker has failed to provide any specifics about the model, including any possible fuel economy numbers. We don’t even know if the model will launch for the 2020 model year or during the 2020 calendar year. If we were to have a guess, we’d be inclined to say that the Wrangler’s hybrid system will probably share components with Fiat Chrysler’s only other plug-in hybrid, a fuel-efficient variant of the Chrysler Pacifica. That vehicle features a 16 kWh battery and has a combined rating of 84 mpg. Beyond the hybrid setup, another impending powertrain for the latest-generation Wrangler will be a 3.0-liter V6 diesel. It’s finally here. After years of waiting, months of spy shots and weeks of rampant speculation, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler has finally premiered at the LA Auto Show. Underpinning the all-new Wrangler is a ladder-frame chassis complete with upgraded suspension and complemented by aluminum body panels. This allows the off-roader to be 200 lbs lighter than its predecessor yet still more rigid. In terms of engines, the range starts with FCA’s familiar Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 delivering 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Mated to eight a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, the four-door Wrangler Unlimited is officially rated at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway with the manual. Opt for the automatic and those figures are 18 mpg and 23 mpg respectively. These images show an interior design that combines traditional styling with new technologies, as the 2018 Wrangler will surely pack more safety features and connectivity options than ever before. FCA tells us to also expect improved versatility, more high-quality materials and better overall comfort for drivers and passengers. Jeep has released the first pictures of the highly-anticipated 2018 Wrangler. Set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 29th, the redesigned model has an evolutionary appearance that is instantly recognizable. Despite the familiar styling cues, Jeep says the Wrangler has improved aerodynamics, a fold-down windshield, and "even more open-air freedom." The company also says we can expect "dozens of different door, top, and windshield combinations." Jeep is keeping details under wraps but we can see the model will have a seven-slot grille which is flanked by circular headlights. The turn signals have been relocated to the front fenders and they reside above a redesigned front bumper. Moving further back, there's new fender flares and front fender vents. A few days ago, FCA teased some Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and RAM models  ahead of their SEMA debut , and know it’s time to see what mods they bring to the table.  If you’re serious about modifying your car and then some, SEMA is the place to be – where aftermarket specialists come up with outrageous ideas, and car makers become tuners/customizers for a brief period of time. Chrysler couldn’t pass the opportunity to show off what it can accomplish with its Mopar brand, that’s why the American conglomerate brought three two Dodge models, two RAM vehicles, a Jeep, and a minivan.
