All-New 2021 Nissan Qashqai Arrives With Sharper Looks, Previews America’s 2022 Rogue Sport

Image
Nissan has unveiled the all-new Qashqai, the third generation of Europe’s best-selling crossover, which now introduces new electrified powertrains and a new styling direction for the Japanese carmaker. Nissan’s latest crossover model comes with a more muscular and sharp exterior design, featuring a bigger V-Motion front grille, as well as slim LED matrix headlamps with new ‘boomerang’ daylight running lights. The athletic stance of the new Qashqai is amplified by the strong shoulder line that runs across the length of the vehicle while for the first time in the model’s history, Nissan will offer the option of 20-inch alloy wheels. The new Nissan Qashqai is slightly bigger than the model it replaces, being longer by 35 mm, wider by 32 mm, taller by 25 mm, while the wheelbase is extended by 20mm. Customers will get to choose between 11 colors, and five two-tone combinations,  for a total of 16 variations to choose from. One of the biggest upgrades can be found inside, with the new Ni...

2022 Nissan Pathfinder Returns With Seating For Eight, Beefy Looks And A Proper 9sp Auto

Image
When it was designing the latest iteration of the Pathfinder, Nissan turned to the original SUV for inspiration. That helps explain the 2022 model’s new chunky design and, specifically, the three slots at the top of the grille. Although the rugged new styling might be the most notable change for the Pathfinder, a new transmission, different proportions, and a better suite of technology all feature prominently. To start, Nissan slotted a familiar 3.5-liter V6 under the hood. Making 284 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque, it’s the same engine Nissan uses today, but the automaker should be able to get more out of it thanks to a new 9-speed automatic. It replaces the CVT and, although EPA figures have not yet been released, it should help it achieve better fuel economy than the outgoing model. With a selection of off-road features, seven driving modes (standard, sport, eco, snow, sand, mud/rut, and tow) the new Pathfinder should be able to live up to its name. Nissan revealed to journalists in a r...

This Is Nissan’s Bigger And Badder All-New 2022 Frontier Mid-Size Truck

Image
Although it’s five inches longer than the outgoing model, Nissan tells us that it didn’t want its new Frontier to grow too much. The company was focused on finding a just-right size for the mid-size pickup. However, even though the chassis has been thoroughly re-engineered for 2022 and the overall length increased, the wheelbase is the same as the outgoing model. Power also comes from a familiar engine, though Nissan disclosed that when they introduced the 3.8-liter V6 for MY2020. The engine makes 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. That’s easily more power and torque than the Chevy Colorado (with optional V6). The Ranger’s EcoBoost, meanwhile makes much less power, but more torque. The Frontier‘s V6 is hooked up to a 9-speed automatic. Although EPA numbers aren’t ready yet, Nissan says that the economy numbers will be similar, if not better than the outgoing model’s 18/24/20 mpg. The new look, meanwhile, has been designed to be as rough and tumble as possible. Many of its design cues were...

2021 Nissan Kicks Debuts With New Looks And More Tech

Image
Nissan has unveiled the facelifted Kicks in the United States. Looking far more attractive than its predecessor, the 2021 Kicks has a new front fascia with a “double V-motion” grille that is flanked by new LED headlights. The entry-level crossover also gains sportier air intakes and new LED fog lights. Additional changes are limited, but there’s a new rear bumper and updated LED taillights. The model also has restyled wheels and a revised color palette that includes three new colors as well as three new two-tone paint schemes. Moving into the cabin, there’s updated upholstery and revised trim. The model also gains a 7.0-inch driver information display, an additional USB Type-C port and a new 8-inch infotainment system in SV and SR trims. Other highlights include newly standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility as well as an optional Bose audio system and an Intelligent Around View Monitor.  The SV and SR trims also boast a new center console with an armrest. While intern...

Nissan Z Proto Combines Retro Styling With Twin-Turbo V6 And Six-Speed Manual

Image
The Nissan 370Z was introduced over a decade ago and it’s well past its prime. While sales have tapered off to a trickle, the company isn’t ready to give up on the iconic Z car. Instead, they’re previewing the next-generation model with the retro-inspired Z Proto. Billed as a “thoroughly modern sports car” that pays respect to 50 years of Z heritage, the Z Proto sports a bright yellow pearlescent exterior which recalls the one used on the original sports car. The paint job isn’t the only retro touch as the hood mirrors the original, while teardrop-shaped LED headlights recall the JDM 240ZG of the 1970’s. While the rectangular grille is reminiscent of the outgoing model, designers added fins which are a nod to the past. Likewise, the roofline and greenhouse recall those used on classic Z cars. The rear end is a bit more modern as it draws inspiration from the 300ZX and features distinctive taillights which have been “reinterpreted for the modern world.” They’re framed by black surround ...

2021 Nissan Z Teased For The First Time, Shows 240Z Styling Influences

Image
Nissan released a new video to tease its upcoming new models, which included our first look at the much anticipated 2021 Z sports car. From what we can tell, the new Nissan Z confirms previous reports that suggested it will draw inspiration from the original 240Z for its styling, featuring cleaner lines than the 370Z but without looking too retro. The front end of the 2021 Z is getting a pair of LED headlights shaped in a circle as a tribute to the iconic 240Z while the front grille appears to be model-specific and not related to the V-Motion design language of the brand. The roofline slopes towards the back in typical Z fashion but the rear end appears to be less rounded compared to the 370Z and more like the classic Z models. The new model is reportedly going to be based on a revised version of the 370Z platform. Other than that, there isn’t much official information on Nissan’s new sports car. Power is expected to come from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, the same one as featured ...

2020 Nissan Sentra Is Low, Wide, Sleek, And More Efficient Than Ever

Image
The 2020 Nissan Sentra has just launched on the eve of the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, roughly six months after being previewed by the Sylphy over in Asia. The Sentra is Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in the U.S. of all time so redesigning it is rather significant. Underpinning what is the eighth-generation Sentra is a new platform that makes the sedan two inches lower and two inches wider than its predecessor. This lower and more aggressive stance works beautifully with the re-designed front and rear fascias, particularly the front that supports Nissan’s signature V-motion grille, thin LED headlights, and floating roof. A sole powertrain in the form of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 149 hp and 146 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque is sold with the Sentra, offering 20 per cent more power and 16 per cent greater torque than the previous-generation’s 1.8-liter engine. Nissan also says the 2.0-liter will be more fuel efficient although it has stopped short of issuing EPA estimates just...

Nissan Ariya Concept Is The Dawn Of A New Era For Automaker

Image
Nissan says the Ariya Concept “signals the dawn of a new era” for the brand as it “embarks to redefine its brand philosophy for the next evolutionary phase of the automobile.” That’s a bold mission statement from the company and it’s fitting that the vehicle is quite the head-turner. Nissan is previewing a new design philosophy with the Ariya Concept, taking design inspiration from the IMx Concept of 2017’s Tokyo Motor Show and adding some bold new elements. At the front, you will find a bold front ‘shield’ in place of the front grille you would ordinarily find in an ICE vehicle. The car rolls on a set of 21-inch aluminum wheels and also features a rear-end quite a bit different than traditional SUVs thanks to steeply raked C-pillars. “A new vehicle architecture means fresh opportunities to redefine how vehicles interact with society, how an EV paired with advanced driving capabilities can offer a new perspective,” Nissan senior vice president of global design Alfonso Albaisa...

2020 Nissan Patrol / Armada Boasts New Design And Better All-Round Tech

Nissan’s new 2020 Patrol SUV is scheduled to go on sale this month in the Middle East, featuring new exterior enhancements, higher levels of sophistication inside and improved overall tech, while retaining its solid off-road capabilities. The Japanese automaker considers the Patrol to be an icon of its SUV heritage, engineered specifically to tackle some of the most demanding driving conditions on the planet – without sacrificing comfort. “The Patrol is one of our longest-standing and most cherished models, with a long and proud heritage,” said Joni Paiva, regional VP of the Africa, Middle East and India region at Nissan. “The new Nissan Patrol represents the peak of luxury and ultimate capability and will continue to provide authentic experiences to its loyal customers in the Middle East and around the world.” In terms of styling, Nissan engineers gave the 2020 Patrol / Armada a signature V-motion grille, to go with the new boomerang-shaped LED headlights. Together, the gr...

All-New 2020 Nissan Juke Grows Up Without Losing Its Quirky Looks

Image
Ten years after it has shocked the subcompact crossover segment with its funky looks, the Nissan Juke is back for a second generation that promises to outclass its predecessor in every respect. The 2020 Nissan Juke builds on the success of the first-generation model by adopting an evolutionary design that retains the funky looks despite the fact that the crossover is now roomier thanks to the all-new CMF-B platform it shares with the latest Renault Captur and Clio. The new Juke is 4,210-mm (165.7-in) long, 1,595-mm (62.8-in) high, and 1,800-mm (70.8-in) wide but, despite that, it manages to shed 23 kg compared to the previous-generation model. The crossover looks more athletic than before thanks to the more harmonious proportions, “floating roof” design, and the strong character line. The exterior is also highlighted by details such as the bolder V-motion grille treatment and the standard full-LED headlights and taillights. Speaking of the lights, the Juke retains the ...
