Aston Martin has revealed the exterior design of the upcoming DBS GT Zagato in a series of official renders. Based on the DBS Superleggera, the company’s latest limited-edition supercar showcases the latest evolution in the Aston Martin Zagato design language. How limited you ask? Well, in order to get your hands on one of the DBS GT Zagatos, you’ll have to also get a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation. The £6 million ($7.48 million) pair forms what Aston calls the DBZ Centenary Collection, with only 19 examples of each set to be made. Aston Martin has just launched a special edition version of the potent DBS Superleggera to celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond classic On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Fittingly named “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service DBS Superleggera” (quite a mouthful that one…), the British supercar sports a number of distinctive elements such as diamond turned forged wheels and carbon fiber splitter and aero blades, a bespoke grille and a special Olive Green paint scheme. Inside, customers will be welcomed with pure black leather trimming accented by grey blend Alcanatara, just like the original Aston Martin DBS from 1969. There are also a number of red accents found throughout the cabin, including the glovebox, center console, and seats. Aston Martin is upping its performance game by unveiling the new DBS Superleggera Volante. Billed as the fastest convertible ever made by Aston Martin, the DBS Superleggera Volante has a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine that produces 715 hp (533 kW / 725 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and 0-100 mph (161 km/h) in 6.7 seconds. Given enough room, the model will eventually top out at 211 mph (340 km/h). Styling largely carries over from the coupe, but Aston Martin says the model has been equipped with deeper side strakes which draw more air from the front wheel arches to reduce lift and aid high-speed stability. The convertible also has a revised Aeroblade ll system that provides additional downforce at the rear end. Fresh off presenting not one, but three all-new supercars at the recent Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin is also releasing a new, limited-run model named the DBS GT Zagato. Previewed in a few official renderings, it’s been created to mark the 100th anniversary of the Italian design house and almost 60 years of collaboration between the two companies. Essentially a re-bodied version of the DBS Superleggera, the new DBS GT Zagato will be sold as part of the DBZ Centenary Collection and will be made in just 19 examples. Each one comes with a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation as well and costs a whopping £6 million ($7.9/€7 million) in the United Kingdom, before taxes. The Aston Martin DBS Supeleggera lineup is growing as the company has taken the wraps off the limited edition DBS 59. Commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge, the series of 24 cars pay tribute to the DBR1 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959. Created by Aston Martin’s Q division, the DBS 59 features an assortment of styling cues which recall the iconic race car. Chief among them is a racing green paint job that is contrasted by gloss carbon fiber trim. The car also has a number of bronze accents on the grille, spoiler and wheels. Speaking of the latter, they are backed up by a high-performance braking system with bronze calipers. Moving into the cabin, drivers will find a mix of obsidian black and chestnut tan leather as well as with “fabric inspired by the DBR1 seat material.” Elsewhere, there’s racing green accents, bronze flourishes and embroidered backrests with the “DBS 59” logo. Aston Martin is expected to lift the veil off the new DBS Superleggera very soon. But not before the first images and details have found their way online across a number of outlets. Set to replace the outgoing Vanquish, the new DBS Superleggera is expected to borrow much from the DB11 – much like the last DBS was based on the old DB9, only turned up to 11 (or well past it). As you can see, it has mostly fresh bodywork – rendered almost entirely in carbon fiber to help cut a good 160 pounds (72 kg) off the curb weight, now down to a reported 3,733 lbs (<1,700 kg). The grille is larger and the lines crisper, thanks to what we expect is a collaborative effort with Carrozzeria Touring – which lays a stronger claim to the Superleggera handle than Lamborghini ever did. Aston Martin sure is busy at the moment. While one would expect the British marque to have its hands full with the recent release of the new Vantage and the DB11 not too long ago, Aston’s busy at work on what they’re calling a flagship super GT. While we don’t know a lot, we do know that the car will be dubbed the DBS Superleggera. Car enthusiasts and Aston Martin fans won’t have to reach into the deep recesses of their mind to know that the DBS nameplate has played a large role in the automaker’s history. The three letters have been a part of the brand for nearly 50 years. In 1967, Aston unveiled the first vehicle to have a DBS badge. More recently, we saw the nameplate return for the range-topping variant of the DB9 in 2007. Well DBS fans, the name’s making a comeback.
