Image
The H2 and H3 were Hummer’s bread and butter, and the company is returning to its roots with the all-new 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. Unveiled during the NCAA’s Final Four basketball tournament, via a commercial narrated by LeBron James, the GMC Hummer EV SUV is an electric heavyweight that will get people talking. The model follows in the footsteps of the pickup and features a familiar front end with an illuminated grille that is flanked by slender headlights. Below, there’s a beefy skid plate and prominent D-rings. Moving further back, the model has bulging fenders and an upright windscreen. The Infinity Roof carries over from the pickup and features removable Sky Panels that can be stored in the frunk. However, the big news is the fully enclosed rear end which has a full-size spare tire out back. While the model looks good in standard form, owners will be able to extensively customize the SUV as nearly 200 accessories will be available at launch. The model can also be equipped with an Ex...

2022 GMC Terrain Debuts With Updated Looks, Rugged New AT4 Variant

Image
The GMC Terrain is one of the brand’s most important crossovers and it’s getting a facelift for 2022. Looking instantly recognizable, the 2022 Terrain features a larger grille that is flanked by restyled LED headlights. Further below, we can see a lightly modified front bumper with less chrome trim. Additional changes are limited, but the facelifted crossover gains new LED taillights and a revised color palette that includes four new options. The model has also been equipped with restyled 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels. The popular Denali and Elevation Edition return, and they’re being joined by an all-new AT4 variant. GMC didn’t say much about the latter, but it features a rugged exterior with plastic body cladding, a front skid plate and black wheels wrapped in meatier tires. We can also see a unique grille and plenty of AT4 badging. Interior changes are minor, but buyers will find updated trim and upholstery as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hummer Returns As A 1,000 HP Electric Pickup From GMC

Image
Nearly a decade after the last Hummer rolled off the assembly line, the brand is back and more powerful than ever. Introduced earlier, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV marks the return of an icon and a glimpse into GM’s electric future. Looking far more streamlined than previous models, the GMC Hummer EV features a minimalist grille which is flanked by slender LED headlights. However, they’re largely an afterthought as the front end is dominated by a massive bumper and skid plate which hint at the model’s off-road prowess. Continuing further back, we can see pronounced fender flares and a short windscreen.  The model also has a relatively flat roof with removal panels that allow for a truly open-air experience. The panels are transparent and can be stored in the frunk when removed.  While the windshield doesn’t fold down like on the Jeep Gladiator, the rear window can be electronically lowered. Out back, there’s LED taillights and a heavy duty bumper with D-rings.  The model also h...

After months of rumors and speculation, General Motors has confirmed Hummer is making a comeback. The company is keeping details under wraps, but the first new Hummer will be an electric pickup with 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS) and 11,500 lb-ft (15,574 Nm) of torque. This will enable the model to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just three seconds. The model is dubbed the “GMC Hummer EV” and it will be officially unveiled on May 20th. In the meantime, the company released a teaser image which shows the model will have a slender six slot grille and LED headlights.  Further below, we can see a rugged front bumper and offset GMC badging. Additional details are hard to make out, but there’s sculpted hood and squared off mirrors.  The model also appears to have the roof-mounted lights just the iconic H2. Besides the teaser image, GMC announced plans to feature the pickup in a Super Bowl commercial called “Quiet Revolution.”  The 30 second spot will air during the...

2021 GMC Yukon Is All-New From The Ground Up, Gains Rugged AT4 Variant

Image
Crossovers might be selling like hotcakes, but GMC is committed to full-size SUVs and they’re showing that resolve by unveiling the all-new Yukon and Yukon XL. Set to go on sale later this year, the Yukon is instantly recognizable as it’s front fascia closely echoes the Sierra. Just like the pickup, the SUV features a prominent grille which is flanked by C-shaped headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. Further below, there are vertical fog lights and a more aerodynamic front bumper. Continuing to the rear, the Yukon has an evolutionary body with more prominent character lines. The model also adopts a rakish C-pillar, sculpted doors and a relatively flat roof.  To help distinguish it from the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, designers added L-shaped taillights which mimic those on the Arcadia. While the models look pretty familiar, they’ve grown in size. The standard Yukon is 6.1 inches (155 mm) longer and gains a 4.9 inch (124 mm) larger wheelbase. Thanks to...

Image
In its third year in the market, the second generation GMC Acadia has received a mid-cycle refresh, which brings both stylistic and technical updates. Expanding the engine lineup is a new 2.0-liter turbo-four with cylinder deactivation. It pushes out 230 hp (233 PS / 172 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque and joins the 2.5-liter I-4 and 3.6-liter V6 as standard on the SLT and Denali grades. Replacing the previous six-speed automatic gearbox is a new nine-speed auto. GMC claims it offers better optimized acceleration and efficiency, while also freeing up more storage space in the central console by having an electronically controlled gear selector instead of the regular transmission shifter. The suspension has been updated to enhance both handling and ride comfort, and models powered by the new engine have a standard eBoost brake system. Visually, the 2020 Acadia sets itself apart from the outgoing iteration with new front and rear fascias. The brand’s C-shaped lighting...

2019 GMC Sierra Looks To Luxury And Carbon Fiber Bed To Set Apart From Silverado

Image
GMC has unveiled the 2019 Sierra and Sierra Denali at a special event in Detroit. Debuting nearly two months after the all-new Chevrolet Silverado, the 2019 Sierra has a distinctive design that is further differentiated than ever before. Starting up front, the truck has been equipped with a larger and more prominent grille which is flanked by Terrain-esque headlights which feature integrated LED daytime running lights. The headlights reside above vertical fog lights which are surrounded by chrome trim on the SLT and Denali variants. While the Silverado has sharp creases and strong character lines, the Sierra is more conservative as it retains squared off fenders and traditional styling cues. However, there are several new touches including more stylish bodywork, a revised greenhouse and an assortment of wheels ranging in sizes up to 22-inches. Pickup beds usually aren’t too exciting but GMC pulled out all the stops and is introducing two new innovations that will be ex...
