2019 Ultima RS Has Up To 1,200 HP And Is Coming To Goodwood

Image
Ultima has long been building some of the most remarkable kit cars ever, and has just unveiled its latest model. Dubbed the RS, it is set to be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and, like Ultima models, will be sold in a number of configurations. The small car manufacturer has engineered the RS’ chassis to fit all current LT V8 engines from Chevrolet, starting with the 480 HP LT1. Should customers want even greater performance, they can opt for the 650 HP LT4 from the Z06, or the supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 used in the current ZR1 modified to deliver 800 HP. For the ultimate in performance, Ultima (natch) even offers a 1,200 HP upgrade pack for the LT5. You know, so that you can make LaFerraris eat your dust once the lights turn green… The RS tips the scales at a featherweight 930 kg (2050 lbs), depending on the powertrain and options selected. Hence, Ultima says the entry-level LT1-powered version can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.0 seconds, 100 mph (160 km/h) in just 6....

2020 Audi TT RS Gets A Refresh, 2.5-Liter Turbo Five Still Puts Out 400 PS

Image
The 2020 TT RS Coupe and Roadster follow in the footsteps of the regular models with a few design updates for the new model year. The revised RS features revised styling at the front and rear, joined by larger lateral air inlets and a new fixed rear wing with side winglets. The facelifted TT RS now has LED headlights as standard, and matrix units with matrix OLED reversing lights that put on a small show whenever the ignition is being switched on, as an option. Clients will have eight colors to choose from, including the model-specific Kyalami Green and the new Pulse Orange and Turbo Blue. Additionally, they can spec the car with the Matte Aluminum or Gloss Black styling packages that highlight the front blade and rear wing. The latter option adds black Audi rings and TT RS logos, while the Roadster gets a black fabric roof. New color touches adorn the cabin as part of the new RS Design Package, which adds red or blue trim throughout the interior, while the Extended RS...

New Skoda Kodiaq RS Makes Public Debut In Paris With Brand’s Most Powerful Diesel Ever

Image
Skoda has finally unveiled the Kodiaq RS, a performance-oriented SUV that can seat as many as seven people. Aside from showing off the vehicle at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the Czech automaker is also quite ready for us to know just how quick their sporty, yet highly practical SUV really is. The new Kodiaq RS is powered by a 2.0-liter TDI biturbo, with 240 PS (237 HP) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It’s Skoda’s most powerful diesel engine ever, and it works together with a 7-speed DSG automatic and an all-wheel drive system. On a straight line, the Kodiaq RS can go from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7 seconds flat, before maxing out at 220 km/h (136 mph). However, when compared to the flagship version of the VW Tiguan Allspace, which is equipped with the very same engine, the Skoda is slower to 100 km/h by 0.3 seconds and has a lower top speed by 8 km/h (5 mph). Yet, you won’t be forgetting this isn’t your regular Kodiaq, especially since the RS comes with Skoda’s co...

Skoda Kodiaq RS Bringing Its New Logo To The Paris Auto Show

Image
Skoda is offering yet another sneak preview into the Kodiaq RS, which will premiere at the beginning of October. The brand’s first ever performance SUV will greet the audience at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, not only with revised styling, mechanicals and a potent diesel engine, but with a new logo as well. Gone is the green color and in comes the red, which “symbolizes how sporty and virile the RS family is”, says the automaker. “The letter ‘v’ denotes victory”, adds Skoda, reminding fans that the ‘RS’ logo was first used in 1974, on the 180 RS and 200 RS rally prototypes. The first street legal Skoda RS was the Octavia, which was introduced in 2000. Skoda’s new ‘RS’ logo will adorn the exterior and interior of the latest Kodiaq model to join the family, which shares the bi-turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with the Volkswagen Passat and Tiguan. Said to be the most powerful oil burner in the company’s history, it pushes out 239 PS (236 hp / 176 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb...

New Renault Megane RS Trophy With 296HP Is The Most Potent And Extreme Version Yet

Image
Having presented the new generation Megane RS last fall in Frankfurt, Renault has now dropped the veil off the Trophy version. Essentially a more track-focused (and extreme) derivative of the hot hatch, the new Renault Megane RS Trophy is based on the Cup chassis, which gets a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential and a stiffer suspension among other upgrades. In particular, it also adds improved brakes, lightweight 19-inch wheels shod in high-performance Bridgestone tires, and a bump in power from the turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. The unit now makes 300PS (296hp / 221kW) and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque when paired with the six-speed manual gearbox, or 420Nm (310lb-ft) when selected with the dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission. The additional 20PS (20hp / 15kW) and up to 30Nm (22lb-ft) of torque over the regular Megane RS, achieved by upgrading the turbocharger and exhaust system, allows the Trophy to sprint from 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) in ...

2019 Skoda Kodiaq RS Is The Fastest 7-Seat SUV On The Nurburgring

Image
After giving us the first pieces of the Kodiaq RS puzzle earlier in the week, Skoda has now brought it forward once more, revealing a record-breaking lap around the Nurburgring. In the hands of none other than Sabine Schmitz, the only woman to have won the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring, the Skoda Kodiaq has become the fastest 7-seat SUV to have lapped the track. It took the ‘Ring Queen 9 minutes and 29.84 seconds to complete the 20.8km (12.9mi) long course and its 73 turns. The record was achieved on May 18, and judging by the video shared by Czech automaker, Schmitz had a lot of fun in unleashing the Kodiaq RS on what is one of the most demanding circuits in the world. “The car looks sporty and the drive is sporty. I thought a seven-seater would not be so easy to handle, especially on a demanding circuit like the Nordschleife, but I have great feelings about it. It drives well. I’m really impressed”, said Sabine Schmitz. For this successful attempt, Skoda wanted to make...

Techrules Ren RS Single-Seater Diesel-Electric Hypercar Coming To Geneva With 1,305PS

Image
China-based Techrules is bringing the Ren RS electric hypercar to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, on March 6. Previewed at last year’s Swiss automotive event, it’s designed for track-use only and comes in a single-seat configuration, with a lightweight construction, and futuristic styling courtesy of Giugiaro. The Techrules’ Ren RS will be available with either four or six electric motors. In its most potent form, it uses two motors at the front and four at the rear, delivering a total of 1,305PS (1,287hp). This allows it to sprint from 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) in 3 seconds, and up to a top speed of 330km/h (205mph). Feeding the electric motors is a diesel range extender, along with a 28kWh battery pack. The small automaker claims a range of up to 1,170km (727 miles), with 80 liters of fuel in the tank. Besides having an entirely new product that’s finalized, Techrules is also currently in talks with different potential international automotive partners. The automaker wants to for...

2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Leaks With New Face And More Grunt

Image
As the 992-generation Porsche 911 is fast approaching, the German marque has decided now is the perfect time to send out the current 991.2-generation model with a bang. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the facelifted 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, leaked online via three low-resolution images. First published, and since deleted, by Australian publication Drive, these images reveal that the updated GT3 RS receives all the same styling modifications as the 991.2 911 GT3 and mixes them with the more overt aerodynamic elements required of any RS-branded model. With this in mind, the new GT3 RS receives the same angular front air intakes and thin LED daytime running lights as the GT3. From there, Porsche engineers have created a custom hood complete with two small NACA ducts. Other visible upgrades at the front include the same front wheel arch louvers as the outgoing GT3 RS. Moving to the sides and the car looks very familiar to the existing model, complete with the same stickers and ma...

Koenigseggg Agera RS Clocks A Potentially Record-Breaking 278 MPH

Image
There's a high-speed grudge match going down between several manufacturers to see who can make the fastest street-legal production automobile. And the latest blow has been struck by Koenigsegg. Though details are still to be confirmed, the Swedish supercar manufacturer revealed late yesterday that it managed to clock 277.9 miles per hour in an Agera RS. The feat was accomplished in the desert around Pahrump, Nevada, driven by factory test driver Niklas Lilja. The speed was taken as an average, as per generally acknowledged standards, of runs in both directions in order to account for wind speed, and was recorded not on the car's own instruments, but by a separate Racelogic module. If confirmed as official, the achievement will shatter the previous record that has stood since 2010 when the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport clocked 267.8 mph, verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. The new Chiron is said to be capable of 288 mph, but has to date “only” reached 261 mp...

Channel Your Inner Drifter With World’s First Electronic Handbrake By Ford

Image
Ford Performance revealed the all-new Drift Stick, the first-ever rally-inspired electronic handbrake, developed and designed for the Focus RS with the seal of approval by tire-smoke master Ken Block. The new Drift Stick was created by the same team responsible for the Focus RS’s infamous Drift mode. It’s basically an aluminum lever between the driver’s seat and manual transmission which opens the rear-drive unit’s clutches and applies hydraulic pressure to lock the rear wheels with a simple pull, just like a real rally car. “The passionate engineers at Ford Performance are also enthusiasts,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “Everyone here is encouraged to think outside the box, so project ‘Wicked Stick’ was born. Our engineers will leverage the learnings from its development for many future products for Ford Performance and, ultimately, take back even more of an innovative spirit when they rejoin our mainstream engineering teams.” For the final sign-off, ...

2018 Renault Megane RS Breaks Cover With Alpine A110's Engine

Image
Contrary to some previous reports, the new generation Renault Megane RS features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, and not a 2.0-liter unit. The powertrain, which comes straight from the Alpine A110, has been massaged to deliver 280PS (276hp) and 390Nm (288lb-ft) of torque, channeled to the front wheels through either a manual or an automatic dual-clutch transmission, both of them offered with six ratios. Renault says that the EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) stands out through a number of specific features, such as the special paddle shifters, similar to those used in motorsport, allowing the driver to change gear without taking his/hers hands off the steering wheel when cornering. It also gets 'Launch Control', for almost perfect getaways, and 'Multi-Change Down' technology, for fast sequential down-changing that allows those behind the wheel to downshift several gears in quick succession, under braking. The all-new Renault-Megane RS is offer...
