Mercedes has finally pulled the covers off the new A45 and CLA45 AMG models at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new baby AMG models arrive with some seriously impressive figures that are set to redefine their class; both are powered by the turbocharged 2.0-liter M139 four-cylinder engine with up to 415hp (421PS), a 0-62mph (100km/h) in as little as 3.9 seconds and a headline-grabbing Drift mode. As before, customers will get to choose between two versions; the basic 45 model, which offers 382hp (387PS) and 354lb-ft (480Nm) of torque, and the more powerful 45 S with its 415hp (421PS) and 368lb-ft of torque. All models come fitted with the new eight-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission and the fully variable Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. The basic A 45 model can achieve a 0-62mph (100km/h) in 4 seconds flat (CLA 45 in 4.1 sec) while the A 45 S requires just 3.9 seconds for the same procedure (CLA 45 S in 4.0 sec). Top speed for the basic 45 models is...

Mercedes-AMG A35 Confirmed For Paris Show Debut, A45S Reportedly Coming Too

After pulling the cover off the new A-Class earlier this year, Mercedes is currently working on the AMG-infused versions. The first one, named AMG A35, is expected to premiere at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, at the beginning of October, reports IndianAutosBlog, after speaking to an official within the Affalterbach-based brand. “Yeah, you will see”, answered Mercedes-AMG’s Senior Manager Marketing Communications, Dominik Greuel, when asked about a possible premiere of the A35 at the biggest automotive event of the fall. “In Paris, it (AMG A35) will definitely be for the first time.” The Mercedes-AMG A35 will go head to head with the Audi S3 Sportback. It’s believed to use the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and EQ Boost technology from the new E350 Coupe and Convertible, which produces 299PS (295hp / 290kW) and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100km/h (0-62mph) acceleration should take just a little over 5 seconds and top speed will probably be electronically lim...

New Mercedes-AMG A45 Confirmed With 400+ HP, Drift Mode Possible

Mercedes-AMG is set to regaining the hot hatch crown with the all-new A45, based on the third generation A-Class. Speaking to journalists present at the Geneva Motor Show, AMG chief, Tobias Moers confirmed what everyone already knew: the car will arrive with over 400 horsepower, from a new turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, TheMotorReport reveals. “It’s going to be 400+ horsepower. What we are doing for the next generation (A45) is we’re engineering a brand new engine, a 2.0-liter engine that is everything new – nothing common with the existing one“, said Moers. “But that doesn’t make sense unless you have driving dynamics equal – I’m not a fan of over-powered cars.” So, in addition to the new powertrain that brings the upcoming AMG A45 into a different league, the hot hatch will also benefit from other mechanical upgrades. Thus, expect the ever present 4Matic AWD system, tweaked chassis, steering and brakes, in addition to other work carried beneath the new sheet metal, including...

Mercedes Caught Working On Faster, Wide-Bodied A45 AMG

Image
While we’ve all seen Mercedes prototypes of  the next generation of the A-Class , spies have caught a current-gen A45 AMG test car running around the roads of Nurburgring. What’s different this time is that the car in question is featuring some seriously wider fenders. These of course are there to cover the wider tracks of the car and we all know what happens when AMG decides to widen the body of one of its models.  We still have no idea of what AMG has in store for the A45 and all we can guess is that Mercedes is planning to send off the current generation of the A-Class with a proper bang. The wider body will be likely accompanied from a series of upgrades in the chassis and the powertrain departments. Despite  the normal A45 AMG  being one of the faster and most capable hatchbacks out there, this new hotter version, believed to be called A45 S, is expected to offer around 400hp  from its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine .  As for the name, the possibilit...
