Vietnamese automaker VinFast has enlisted Pininfarina to create a new sedan and SUV. According to the Italian styling house, 20 designs were submitted to VinFast for the upcoming models. The company then held a contest which asked consumers to select the designs that fit “Vietnamese tastes” and are “in line with world trends.” More than 62,000 people voted in the contest and the two Pininfarina entries came out on top. Little is known about the models but the sedan rendering shows the car will feature a stylish front fascia with slender LED headlights that blend into the grille. The car also has a bulging hood and gently curved surfaces which are broken up by strong character lines. The SUV has a similar front fascia but it is notably taller and more aggressive looking. Ferrari applied to register the attached design with the European Union Intellectual Property Office in August last year, but it’s only today the intriguing images have been published on EUIPO’s site. Very little information is available at this point, other than the fact that we know for sure the patent belongs to Ferrari S.p.A. and the car was styled by Flavio Manzoni, none other than the company’s head of design. By the looks of it, we’re dealing with a vehicle largely based on the sold-out LaFerrari coupe, but with very different headlights featuring a thin strip of LEDs. It’s the same story at the back where the taillights are also very slim and appear to be interconnected in the middle by a body-colored piece that makes us think of the Bugatti Chiron’s horizontal light strip. With exactly two weeks to go until the 2017 Geneva Motor Show welcomes journalists from all over the world, SsangYong has now revealed a new concept car. Named the XAVL (eXciting Authentic Vehicle Long), this Swiss-bound concept builds upon the XAV study that was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. It's also inspired by the classic Korando of the 1990s, as the South Korean company states, and judging by the teaser images released, it boasts an aggressive design, with angular lines. The overall look is carried inside, where the cabin has a minimalist layout with futuristic lines. An infotainment system is taking center stage, a rotary dial sits on the center console for gearshift usage, and the concept even features a few jet-styled controls. The China-based automotive R&D company has just released a new rendering, depicting a production-ready supercar scheduled to debut on March 7th at the Geneva Motor Show. While certain details might be hard to spot, the image itself is meant to show how the company went about combining their proprietary Turbine-Recharging EV powertrain (TREV) with an aerospace-inspired design crafted by none other than Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro. The concept is all about putting function before form as the modular design and technical elements are all meant to revolve around the centrally-positioned driver. Occupant entry and exit is enabled by the car's fighter jet-styled canopy, which rises from the body dramatically, revealing the aircraft-inspired cockpit - which happens to provide excellent visibility and is finished with premium materials according to Techrules. In the lead up to the Geneva Motor Show in March, Pagani has released a new  teaser  image of the upcoming Huayra Roadster. Although it is hard to pinpoint just what part of the car is revealed, it does show an engraved 'Roadster' emblem on a component finished in a beautiful shade of gold. Although Pagani is bound to release more teaser images in the coming weeks, we already know what the droptop Huayra will look like, thanks to numerous  spy shots  and the release of an  official rendering .  Among the most obvious visual changes will be a new diffuser, prominent rear buttresses and aerodynamic flics above the taillights.  As with the coupe, power will continue to come from a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 AMG engine but power is expected to rise by approximately 20 hp, lifting power to around 750 hp. A facelifted  Subaru WRX  is expected to be revealed for the 2018 model year but won't bring with it any serious changes. Australian publication  Motoring  has learnt that the refreshed WRX will retain the current model's platform rather than adopting Subaru's new global platform that supports hybrid powertrains.  Although the  updated  WRX won't be radically different, a senior engineer from Subaru said that an all-new model is on the cards and tipped to arrive early next decade. “The WRX will have a facelift soon, not a full model cycle, because the new model just launched in 2015. The full model cycle will be about four or five years, and that’s when you’ll see a full model.  “We would love to have the WRX on the new platform, because the car would be a lot better … but the 2018 will be a facelift only,” the source said.
