Mitsubishi will unveil its significantly updated ASX compact SUV at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Mind you, it’s not an all-new model but yet another facelift for the SUV that’s also known as RVR in Asia and Outlander Sport in North America. In all fairness, though, it’s the most comprehensive one so far since its launch in 2009 and brings it in line with some of Mitsubishi’s newest products such as the Eclipse Cross. The front end sees the bulk of updates, receiving Mitsubishi’s “Dynamic Shield” front design concept. It features a prominent grille, new headlights that are very similar to those of the Eclipse Cross, a distinctive LED cluster incorporating the turn signals and fog lamps, as well as a new bumper that integrates a skid plate. Changes at the rear consist of new LED taillights as well as a new bumper featuring a skid plate for a more rugged look. After  shaking Nissan's hand  earlier this year, and with Carlos Ghosn taking the reins, Mitsubishi has started working on a replacement of the current Outlander Sport / ASX.  Proof stands an image taken somewhere in Japan by a motorist that shows the  brand's compact SUV  lacking camouflage, but since it's still in development stage, we cannot say for sure whether this design will hold.  However,  previous reports  have pointed towards styling cues drawn from the  XR-PHEV II Concept , and this means that the upcoming Outlander Sport / ASX will benefit from a sportier rear end, and a raked rear window, in addition to the X-shaped front end, slender headlights probably with LED technology, and large wheels, for an extra visual effect.  Besides the usual petrol and diesel engines, which will channel the output to the front wheels or the optional AWD system, we could be looking into a possible plug-in hybrid powertrain too, similar to wh...

Mitsubishi has announced its complete line-up for the impending Paris Auto Show which will include the world premiere of the  GT-PHEV Concept . During the show, the theme of the automaker's booth will be based around “Driving Beyond: Another Step Forward with SUVs and Electric Power”. As such, a selection of other SUVs and electric vehicles will be displayed, including the  eX Concept  which debuted last year as well as European version of the  Outlander  and Outlander PHEV models. Elsewhere, Mitsubishi will bring along the ASX, Pajero, Triton, i-MiEV and the Mirage, clearly keen to promote its range of fuel-efficient models. Certainly the highlight will be the GT-PHEV Concept. It is powered by a high-capacity battery pack as well as three electric motors and a small internal-combustion engine.
