Not long after introducing some smaller GMC Sierra models earlier this month, the automaker has lifted the veil on the all-new 2020 Sierra Heavy Duty. GMC has outfitted the heavy duty pickup with a plethora of new features. One of the most important updates is the ProGrade Trailering System. This system provides the driver with 15 camera views, including a transparent trailer view that allows those behind the wheel to tow with ease. Other features of the ProGrade Trailering System are a Trailer Light Test, Trailer Electrical Diagnostics, Trailer Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitoring, Pre-Maintenance Reminders and a Departure Checklist. A host of other technologies have been added to the Sierra Heavy Duty to make towing a breeze. The all-new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is finally here, and is billed as the most powerful and capable pickup in the segment. Ram backs these claims with the new model’s 35,100-lb (14,288-kg) towing capacity and a payload capacity of 7,680 lbs (3,483 kg). These impressive specs are made possible by the new 6.7-liter Cummins inline six-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 400 hp at 2,800 rpm and up 1,000 lb-ft (1,354 Nm) of torque at 1,800 rpm. There’s also a de-tuned version of the same power plant that delivers 370 hp at 2,800 rpm and 850 lb-ft (1,151 Nm) of torque at 1,700 rpm that’s available on the 2019 Ram 3500 HD. The standard engine in the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty is the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that makes 410 hp at 5,600 rpm and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm. Chevy’s all-new 2020 Silverado HD is set to debut in February of next year, when it will instantly take up the mantle of the “most advanced Silverado HD ever”, according to the automaker. This will also be the third all-new Silverado variant to make its debut within the past 18 months, and its assembly will take place at GM’s Flint plant in Michigan. Also, compared to its 1500 sibling, the HD model is almost entirely different, as the two trucks have only their roofs in common. Did you think the Chevy Silverado HD was a pretty big truck? Well it is, in terms of consumer pickups. But this new version is even bigger. Unveiled at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, the new Siverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD is a medium-duty truck – not in pickup terms, but in commercial truck terms. The new addition to the Silverado range takes General Motors back into the Class 4, 5, and 6 chassis-cab truck market for the first time since discontinuing the Chevy Kodiak (and GMC TopKick) in 2009. That puts the latest Chevy trucks back in direct competition with the Ford F-450/F-550 and F-650/F-750, and the Ram 4500/5500 Tradesman. But while the 4500/5500/6500 Silverado HDs are decidedly targeted at commercial users, they’ve been designed to be as consumer-friendly as possible. General Motors and Holden Special Vehicles have reached an agreement which will ensure the latter company remains active following the death of the rear-wheel drive Holden Commodore. Described as a "pivotal moment" in HSV’s history, the agreement paves the way for an assortment of new vehicles to come to Australia. There will be two "product streams" and the first will consist of the familiar vehicle enhancement program that is offered on existing Holden vehicles. An example of this is the new HSV SportsCat which is based on the Holden Colorado. The model features an all-new front fascia with a revised grille, tow hooks, and LED fog lights. Other notable features include new fender flares, a retuned suspension, and an increased ride height. Power is provided by a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel engine that produces up to 197 hp (147 kW) and 368 lb-ft (500Nm) of torque. Joining the likes of the Canyon and Sierra 1500 this fall as the third model in GMC's  limited-edition All Terrain X series , the Sierra HD All Terrain X is said to be the most off-road-capable truck in the Sierra HD lineup. Aside from its 6.0-liter petrol-powered V8, the Sierra 2500HD crew cab 4WD will also be available with the all-new next-generation  Duramax 6.6-liter V8 turbo-diesel , sending 445 HP (332 kW) and 910 lb-ft (1,234 Nm) to all four wheels. Chevrolet's all-new patented air intake system will drive cool, dry air into the the truck's  Duramax diesel unit  for sustained performance and cooler temperatures during difficult conditions. Aesthetically speaking, the change is marked by a  large functional hood scoop  which in turn helps the engine receive about 60% of its air during running. According to Chevy, this way, the air is very close to the outside ambient temperature and a lot cooler than if sourced from underneath the hood - which in turn allows the Duramax diesel to maintain full power and speed even when pulling a trailer or any other heavy object. Also, at highway speed, a ram-air effect helps pack more air into the engine, while the filter draws 40% more air from a dry location in one of the front fenders, which then blends with the cooler air from the hood inlet before funneling into the diesel unit's combustion chambers.
