Lexus has pulled the wraps off the LF-1 Limitless concept at the Detroit Auto Show, showing off their vision for a flagship luxury SUV. According to the company’s CALTY Design Research studio in California, the new Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept is designed to look “like molten metal being forged into a fine Japanese sword”, previewing at the same time the next step in the company’s design language. “This is our vision for a new kind of flagship vehicle that embraces crossover capability without giving up the performance and luxury delivered by today’s top sedans,” said Kevin Hunter, president, CALTY Design Research. “The LF-1 Limitless concept incorporates imaginative technology while creating a strong emotional connection by improving the human experience for the driver and passengers.” Lexus avoided to specify what kind of powertrain the LF-1 concept uses by simply saying that “like the name of the concept, the possibilities for powertrains are limitless”. Lexus Drops Another LF-1 Concept Teaser Ahead Of Detroit Unveiling

Image
The Lexus LF-1 concept will arrive at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January to preview the automaker's new flagship SUV. In a previous teaser, we saw a little bit of its sloped rear end, which features a continuous light strip hugging the tailgate as well as some of the rear bumper and fenders. We also know that the LF-1 was designed in Southern California at the CALTY design studio, and that it will represent the next step in the Japanese automaker's current design language. This latest teaser shows a partially lit front fascia, with pointy and aggressive-looking LED daytime running lights and a backlit badge in the middle of the grille, which may turn out to be just as massive as the one on the all-new LS saloon. The LF-1 will be unveiled on January 15, at approximately 8:35 AM EST (1:35 PM GMT) in Detroit, and the entire event will be streamed online. Carscoops

So it looks like Lexus is getting ready to enter the luxury SUV game, with the single teaser image revealing a sloping roofline which means that the LF-1 concept will most likely be a big SUV Coupe of some sort. Everything will be much clearer once Lexus pulls the wraps off the LF-1 SUV concept at the ...
