The all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent has just been unveiled on the eve of the LA Auto Show. As the largest Subaru ever with seating for up to eight people, it promises exceptional versatility and comes laden with a host of noteworthy features. Subaru first previewed the Ascent as a concept in April and for the most part, the design of the production model is free of any significant changes. As such, the SUV adopts the automaker’s ‘Dynamic x Solid’ design philosophy and utilizes a hexagonal front grille with C-shaped headlights designed to mimic the look of pistons moving inside a boxer engine. Sitting at the heart of the new three-row SUV is an all-new 2.4-liter boxer engine featuring direct fuel injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger. It delivers 260 hp at 5,600 rpm and 277 lb-ft of torque between 2,000 and 4,800 rpm. All models come complete with a CVT transmission featuring an 8-speed manual mode. Subaru will unveil their 2019 Ascent three-row SUV at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show next Tuesday, on November 28. Dubbed the first full three-row SUV from Subaru, according to the Japanese automaker, the Ascent is "family-sized, versatile and capable." In a way, it's also the spiritual successor to the Tribeca. Of course, the best comparison you could make would be with the Ascent Concept, unveiled earlier this year in NY. The concept itself was based on a previous design study, called the Viziv-7, and featured flared fenders and a large bluff grille in front. We're happy to tell you that those flared fenders are definitely there on the final product as well, judging by what we can see in this latest teaser image. Also, the headlights seem a tiny bit smaller than on the concept, but their overall design is similar. If the production model will be the same size as the Ascent Concept, it will measure 198.8 inches (5,049 mm) in length, 78.3 inches (1,989 mm) ...

The Los Angeles Auto Show is less than two weeks away and Subaru has announced plans to introduce the 2019 Ascent at this year's event. Set to become the spiritual successor to the slow-selling Tribeca, the crossover was previewed by a concept at the New York Auto Show earlier this year. Unfortunately, the teaser image doesn't reveal much about the production model as it only shows the crossover will have an upright tailgate, a black rear bumper, and wraparound taillights. We can also see brushed aluminum trim and a small Ascent badge. Subaru has been relatively tight-lipped about the model but it will be a three-row crossover that is based on the company's global platform. The Ascent will be built in Indiana and the concept implied the model will measure 198.8 inches (5,049 mm) long, 78.3 inches (1,989 mm) wide, and 72.4 inches (1,839 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 117 inches (2,972 mm). Subaru has confirmed that their upcoming 3-row SUV will be called the Ascent, and that it will feature an all-new turbocharged direct injection boxer engine, just like this concept. Derived directly from the Viziv-7 concept which premiered at the 2016 LA Auto Show, the Ascent holds on to the Viziv-7's "Dynamic x Solid" design theme, boasting powerful fender flares and a large bluff grille to give it that imposing SUV look. As for the interior, this concept has a flowing dashboard design and a 7-passenger configuration with center captain's chairs. Every surface, aside from the multi-function steering wheel, seems to have touch-sensitive controls - including the door panels, which is a pretty unique feature. We also can't help but notice the floating design of the dual-panel infotainment system, with one gigantic display for the main screen as well as the climate controls.
