Nissan And Italdesign Create The Ultimate GT-R To Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Image
Nissan has revealed the GT-R50 by Italdesign, a prototype based on the 2018 GT-R Nismo built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of both the iconic Japanese sports car and Italdesign. As the GT-R turns 50, Nissan has collaborated for the first time with Italdesign to create a “limitless” GT-R. Italdesign developed, engineered and built the one-off prototype which will debut in Europe next month. The GT-R50’s new bodywork gets a distinctive gold detailing, a new hood with a more pronounced power bulge, thin LED headlights, a lower by 54mm roofline, a steeper rake for the rear window and twin floating taillights with hollow centers, among other. The prototype is finished in what Nissan calls “Liquid Kinetic Gray” paint finish with “Energetic Sigma Gold” accents while the wheels are custom 21-inch items. The cabin is also bespoke, with the dashboard getting a new design that doesn’t feature an infotainment screen for a cleaner look while the instrument cluster is di...

Italdesign Zerouno Targa Looks Stunning In Latest Images

Image
Italdesign has released two new pictures of its upcoming Zerouno Targa. Set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the model is essentially an open air version of the Zerouno coupe which was unveiled at last year’s show. Of course, the biggest difference is the targa eschews a fix and adopts a unique rear end which features two buttresses and a prominent compartment for the car’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine. Speaking of the engine, it is expected to produce 610 PS (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. It will likely be connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system. There’s no word on how fast the model will be but the coupe could accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). Part of the car’s impressive performance is due to its lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum chassis which is covered by carbon fiber bodywork. The model should also come equipped with 2...

Italdesign Zerouno Roadster Will Drop Its Top In Switzerland Next Month

Image
Italdesign is celebrating its 50th anniversary in style as the company will use the Geneva Motor Show to unveil the Zerouno roadster. Based on the Zerouno coupe, the roadster has a familiar design but features an open cockpit and two buttresses which reside behind the driver and front passenger. Little is known about the car but it will follow in the footsteps of the coupe which featured a carbon fiber and aluminum chassis as well as carbon fiber bodywork. The model was also outfitted with 20-inch aluminum wheels which were backed by a carbon-ceramic braking system with eight piston calipers up front. Power was provided by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that developed 610 PS (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. It was connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enabled the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). In a statement, Italdesign CEO Jö...

Meet The New V10-Powered Italdesign 2017 Supercar

Image
Following an extensive teasing campaign, Italdesign have finally unveiled their latest ultra-limited series car. Set to premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, starting with March 7, the as-of-yet unnamed machine is part of the company's newly launched brand, the Italdesign Automobili Speciali. As it was initially announced, only five units are to be produced, before the end of 2017, and all of them will feature the same aggressive carbon fiber body that sits on top of a modular chassis and is 4,847 mm (190.9 in) long, 1,970 mm (77.6 in) wide, and 1,204 mm (47.4 in) tall. At its heart, it carries a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, whose specs have yet to be released. Nevertheless, we're probably looking at the same mill that powers both the Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8. Italdesign may not be keen on telling us how much power the unit produces, but the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time takes just 3.2 seconds, with the top speed standing in excess of...

Italdesign announces new brand dedicated to ultra-limited series

Image
Italian design and engineering studio Italdesign is introducing its new Italdesign Automobili Speciali brand. It will focus on “vehicles constructed in ultra-low series production, aimed at a number of selected collectors.” Details at the moment are scarce – the new boutique marque will make its official debut at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show, when we will know all the details. On March 7, Italdesign will reveal a new vehicle through its new brand – a car that was already teased several times. At this point, the preliminary images suggest we could be dealing with a mid-engine supercar, but we will have to wait a couple of weeks. With this new brand and its future models, the Italian company is returning to “small series production, a challenge that begun in the Seventies with the BMW M1, and continued in the Eighties with the Aztec prototype and the Nineties with Nazca and W12.” In recent years, Italdesign has made “significant investments in technology and training” for...
