Reborn Lagonda Launches With All-Terrain Electric SUV Concept

Image
Aston Martin’s coming for the likes of the Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace with what they call “the future of the luxury SUV” – the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept. Celebrating its world premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, it offers a glimpse into the Lagonda design language first seen in the Vision Concept, and just like the latter, it’s been partly inspired by the world of super yachts. The nautical elements are mostly visible at the back, where the rear overhang has been overstretched. Elsewhere, the All-Terrain Concept has a clean exterior design, with slender headlights, subtle creases on the hood, sporty roofline and light strip at the rear. It also features rear-hinged back doors that, with the sections of the roof that open upwards, facilitate ingress and egress in a stylish way. “This is a car that would be at home whisking someone straight from a glamorous red carpet event to a remote scientific research lab”, said CEO Andy Palmer. “It shows the bold possibilities...

Lagonda All-Terrain Concept Coming To Geneva As Brand’s First Model

Image
Aston Martin‘s Lagonda brand will unveil an all-new concept at March’s Geneva Motor Show dubbed the All-Terrain Concept. The vehicle’s premiere will come exactly 12 months after the launch of the Lagonda Vision Concept and according to Aston Martin, the All-Terrain Concept will be the first model put into production by the relaunched Lagonda brand. It will launch as a 2021 model. A single teaser image of the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept has been released. The image shows the vehicle with a wide stance and a brushed chrome element that stretches from the outer edges of the headlights into the center of the car’s front fascia where a traditional grille would usually be found. The concept also uses small cameras rather than traditional wing mirrors. While the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept will be the most important Aston Martin model present at the Geneva Motor Show, it won’t be the only one. The British car manufacturer will also display a new Vantage, DB11 AMR, and DBS Superlegger...

Lagonda SUV Confirmed For 2021 Reveal, Will Be Fully Electric

Image
After wowing Geneva visitors with the stylish Vision Concept back in March, Lagonda has now confirmed that their first production model, a zero-emissions SUV, is coming in 2021. According to the British automaker, this new model will be the world’s first zero-emission luxury SUV, while also upholding “the qualities of the reinvented super-luxury marque”. Visually however, it will feature an evolution of the design language found on the Vision Concept, which had a bold, yet sleek exterior. “In reviving one of the most iconic names in motoring we have created a unique opportunity,” stated Aston Martin president and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer. “One that allows us to cast aside an inherited 20th century approach and instead design cars around 21st century demands and desires. The Lagonda SUV is the first of its kind: a spacious, high-performance 4×4 that successfully reconciles a love of technology, luxury and style.” Meanwhile, the company’s chief creative officer, Marek Reichman, claim...

Aston Martin Pops Up A Surprise With Electric Lagonda Vision Concept

Image
Aston Martin has been trying to breath new life into its Lagonda brand for years now. Its previous attempts have failed to gain traction, but this one could. It’s called the Lagonda Vision concept, and it’s one of the big surprises the Geneva Motor Show has had in store for us this year. As you can probably tell from the images and video below, the show car looks further into the future than most of what we see from Aston Martin. In fact it aims to relaunch the largely dormant name as a zero-emissions luxury brand to take on the likes of Tesla and all the challengers that conventional automakers have been cooking up. The svelte, futuristic shape fits the batteries down low in the floor of the car, thereby keeing the center of gravity low while eschewing the traditional shape by which conventionally powered vehicles are bound. Above those batteries, the EV offers copious space for four adult passengers to stretch out in comfort, surrounded by glass, carbon fiber, ceramic til...

Aston Martin To Launch Two New Lagonda Models By 2023

Image
Aston Martin is working on a variety of different models including the Vantage, Vanquish, and Valkyrie but CEO Andy Palmer has just confirmed the company is also working to revive the Lagonda brand. In an interview with Car & Driver, Palmer confirmed the company has plans to offer two new Lagonda models that will target consumers who typically buy vehicles from Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The vehicles are scheduled to be launched by 2023 and will aim to offer a unique combination of luxury, style, and performance. Little is known about the models but Palmer said "I don’t want either of them to be what you’d call a traditional sedan." The executive went on to say he's challenged the company's designers to come up with something special that can still appeal to a "relatively conservative market" which is largely chauffeur-driven. Despite suggesting he wasn't looking for a traditional sedan, Palmer seemingly ruled out the possibility of either of ...

Aston Martin CEO Confirms Ferrari 488 Rival For 2020

Image
After launching the new DB11, Aston Martin are now looking to go deep into Ferrari and Lamborghini territory with a mid-engined supercar that will challenge the likes of the 488 and Huracan. Confirmed to AutoExpress by the brand's chief, Andy Palmer, it's part of the automaker's strategy that will eventually see the launch of seven new vehicles in as many years. "We have one car every year, for the next seven years. It starts with our GT cars: DB11, Vantage, and Vanquish. In 2019, we'll have the DBX, then we'll have, for the sake of the argument, let's call it a [Ferrari] 488 competitor, then we have Lagonda, which is Lagonda One and Lagonda Two. Each car has a seven-year life, so in 2023, you have DB12", Palmer said. Expected to join the Aston Martin family in 2020, the mid-engined supercar is seen as ideal to slot in "an obvious blind spot" between the current sports cars and the Valkyrie. As far as its layout goes, the marque'...
