BMW has taken the wraps off the all-new M3 CS. Designed to offer a blend of high performance and everyday practicality, the model features an upgraded 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that develops 453 hp (337 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission which enables the special edition to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of up to 174 mph (280 km/h). The performance changes don't stop under the hood as the M3 CS weighs approximately 110 lbs (50 kg) less than the standard model thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. The lightweight material is used on the hood and roof as well as "large sections of the body." This not only makes the M3 CS lighter but it also reduces the car's center of gravity. We all knew it was coming and at the Shanghai Auto Show, BMW has unveiled the M4 CS, a potent variant that slots between the M4 Competition Package and the range-topping M4 GTS. While BMW hasn't gone into specific production numbers, it's believed that as with the GTS, production of the M4 CS will be capped, as the Germans will manufacture the special edition only until the middle of next year, Being that the production run of the GTS has already concluded, the CS is now the most potent M4 in the company's range.
