Drako GTE Is A 1200 HP Electric Hyper Sedan That Promises Supercar-Like Handling

Image
Drako Motors has unveiled their first car at The Quail. Billed as the culmination of nearly a decade of work, the GTE is an ultra-luxury sedan that is based on the old Fisker Karma. Despite this, the model is not a copycat as it features a new front end with slender headlights, a carbon fiber hood and large air intakes. The sides largely carry over, but now come with sportier side skirts and hidden door handles. Bigger changes can be found at the rear in the form of a massive diffuser and a small trunk with an integrated spoiler. Power comes from a 90 kWh battery pack that feeds no less than four electric motors, which produce a combined output of 1,200 HP (895 kW / 1,217 PS) and 6,491 lb-ft (8,800 Nm) of torque. Drako didn’t mention the car’s range or 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time, but did say that the GTE has a top speed of 206 mph (332 km/h). The company was also coy about recharging times, but confirmed the model has a 15 kW onboard charger and can also be use DC fast ...

Jaguar Announces All-Electric E-Type Will Be Built

Image
Jaguar’s all-electric E-Type will be produced in limited numbers, the British car manufacturer has confirmed. The original Jaguar E-Type Zero concept was introduced in September 2017 and later garnered worldwide attention after being used during the UK’s Royal Wedding. On the back of a hugely-positive response to the car, Jaguar Classic has announced it will offer E-Types that have been restored and converted to electric power. Existing E-Type owners will also be offered an EV conversion that’s fully reversible. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the Jaguar E-type Zero concept. Future-proofing the enjoyment of classic car ownership is a major stepping stone for Jaguar Classic,” Jaguar Land Rover Classic director Tim Hannig said. “E-type Zero showcases the incredible heritage of the E-type, and the expertise and craftsmanship at Classic Works, while demonstrating Jaguar Land Rover’s dedication to creating zero emission vehicles across every part of the busin...

Bugatti Chiron Divo Is A Faster, Hardcore Special Edition Limited To 40 Units

Image
After presenting the Chiron Sport earlier this year, Bugatti is now getting ready to launch a limited edition version of their hypercar, called Chiron Divo. Named after the French racing driver Albert Divo, who won the Targa Florio race twice for Bugatti in the late 1920s, it will premiere at ‘The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering’, in California, on August 24. Described as being “made for corners” by Bugatti President, Stephan Winkelmann, the Chiron Divo wants “to thrill people throughout the world” with its “nimble handling in a significantly more performance-oriented way”. It’s unknown what Bugatti what Bugatti did to the Chiron to turn it into the Divo, but words such as “lightweight and agility, higher downforce and greater g-forces” have also been used in the short press release. That said, expect it to be lighter than the current Chiron and to feature some aerodynamic updates. Also, its “dynamic character will be underlined by a new, strong design language”, says Bug...

Ken Okuyama's Kode 0 Is A Wedge-Shaped Lamborghini Aventador

Image
Ken Okuyama has unveiled his new Kode 0 at The Quail Motorsports Gathering. Billed as a follow up to the Kode 57, the Kode 0 is a retro-inspired supercar which was envisioned to capture the spirit of automotive design in the 1970's. In particular, the car pays tribute to Marcello Gandini who penned classics such as the Lancia Stratos Zero, Lamborghini Countach, and Ferrari Moduro. Based on the Lamborghini Aventador, the model features a “one motion” design that gives the car a wedge-shaped appearance. The vehicle also has a front splitter, LED headlights and 20- / 21-inch forged alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tires. The unique styling continues at the rear as the Kode 0 has been equipped with a triangular-shaped quadruple exhaust system which is flanked by a massive diffuser. The car's distinctive carbon fiber body work combines Lamborghini's carbon fiber monocoque chassis to create a relatively lightweight supercar. Okuyama says the model weighs 1,550 kg (3,417 ...

Ferrari Enzo Designer To Unveil Kode 0 At Pebble Beach

Image
Ken Okuyama might not be a household name but the designer has helped to create a number of memorable vehicles including the Porsche Boxster, Ferarri Enzo, and Ferrari P4/5. His latest creation is called the Kode 0 and it will be unveiled at the Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 18th, 2017. One day later, it will be displayed at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California. Little is known about the car at this point but it is being described as a one-off model that "brings together Okuyama’s stylish penmanship with a mid-engine V12 in a carbon fiber monocoque." That's not much to go on but the teaser images suggest the model will be a wedge-shaped supercar that features a front spoiler and angular headlights with either LED daytime running lights or LED turn signals. The car also promises to have an extreme profile as one image shows side-mounted air intakes and a flying buttress. Okuyama's previous model, the Kode57, was unveiled last year and it ...

Bugatti Showcases Stunning Blue-Carbon Chiron At The Quail

Image
Bugatti has brought out a beautiful example of their Chiron at the Quail event in California.  Finished in a deep blue which lets the carbon weaves visible over a red interior, this Bugatti Chiron is one of the  most impressive  we’ve come across yet.  Powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 engine that makes 1,479hp (1,500PS) and 1180lb ft (1600Nm) of torque, the Bugatti’s new rocketship can accelerate from zero to 62mph (0-100km/h) in less than 2.5 seconds and all the way  up to an electronically limited top speed of 261mph  (420km/h). Bugatti says that so far more than 200 customers have placed their orders, with around 30 per cent of them coming from the United States. With that said, the new Chiron looks like it’s going to be a big hit for the historic company.  Earlier this month, it became known that a Saudi prince became  the owner of the original Bugatti Chiron show car  from Geneva Motor Show and of the Vision Gran Turismo concept ...

Lamborghini Confirms Centenario Roadster Debut At The Quail

Image
Lamborghini will debut the Roadster version of the Centenario supercar at the Quail Golf Club and then bring it on the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The reveal of the very limited -and very expensive- supercar will happen this Friday, August 19. Lamborghini plans to  build 40 Centenarios in total , 20 Coupes and 20 Roadsters, with a price tag close to $2 million. Each and every example was already sold out even before the Coupe’s public debut at the last Geneva Motor Show.  The  Roadster version  will of course be powered by the same 770hp V12 engine. While we don’t know what the technical differences will be between the two bodystyles, we can already guess that the topless version will be quite fast.  The coupe  is able to accelerate  from 0 to 62mph in 2.8 seconds, 0 to 186mph in 23.5 seconds and all the way up to 217mph and we expect the Roadster version to not fall much behind. Built to celebrate one century since Ferruccio Lamborghini's bir...
