Chevrolet is celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Corvette with the new Carbon 65 Edition, which will be offered in the 2018 Grand Sport 3LT and ZO6 3LZ models. The company will build only 650 units globally which set themselves apart with a new visible carbon-fiber exterior package, including a rear spoiler and quarter ducts, a new Ceramic Matrix Gray exterior paint finish and special interior details, including a carbon-fiber rimmed steering wheel. At the same time Chevrolet announced some minor equipment changes to the MY2018 Corvette, including a standard HD radio on all models, an optional Performance Data Recorder, an improved rear-view camera with higher resolution, a Spice Red convertible top option and more. Following  yesterday’s revealing scoops , the time for GM to pull the wraps off the new Insignia Grand Sport has come, with Vauxhall being the first brand to do so.  The  new Opel / Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport  is based on a new modular platform which allowed not only for athletic proportions but also for a more spacious cabin and class-leading aerodynamics with a Cd figure of 0.26. The  new underpinnings  also brought significant weight savings of up to 175kg (385lbs) with the body-in-white being 60kg (132lbs) lighter on its own. The roofline is now lower by 29mm with the tracks being wider by 11mm. The newest addition to the  Corvette family  is called Grand Sport and it made its world premiere today in Geneva.  Available in two body styles, coupe and convertible, the new performance machine is  based on the C7  and benefits from wider fenders, Z06-style grille and 19-/20-inch front/rear wheels, wrapped in 285/30 and 335/25 Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber.  Technical upgrades include GS' brakes with 14-inch front and 13.4-inch rear rotors, larger than the ones found on the Stingray and even those offered with the optional Z51 performance package, with standard Brembo six-piston calipers.  These are joined by the  sportier suspension tune , and the Z51's electronically controlled rear differential, offered at no extra cost, but if you still want more, then GM offers the optional Z07 pack, which adds carbon ceramic brakes and Pilot Sport 2 Cup tires.  Underneath the long bonnet, engineers have used the standard 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engin...

Need further proof that  Chevrolet  is trying to turn the  Corvette  into a truly globe-spanning  sports car ? Then  check out this Instagram post  from Corvette Racing's Oliver Gavin that shows a new Grand Sport model will debut not at Detroit, or Los Angeles, or even New York, but at Geneva. In Switzerland. That's in Europe, land of  Bugatti ,  Porsche ,  Ferrari , and  Aston Martin . Gavin hasn't deleted the image as of this writing, but is probably getting an earful from his Chevrolet handlers at this moment.
