As recent teasers indicated, the design changes made to the facelifted i30 Hatchback, Fastback, and Wagon are only subtle but do make the vehicle a touch more striking. At the front, the South Korean car includes a wider grille with a complex 3D mesh pattern while also sporting slimmer headlights with optional multifaceted reflector MFR LED technology. These lights are particularly eye-catching thanks to the presence of new V-shaped daytime running lights. Spin around to the rear of the refreshed i30 and you’ll be greeted with a new bumper that’s been developed to improve aerodynamic performance. The taillights also offer a V-shape to mimic the front. Hyundai has dropped the first official photos and information on the all-new i30 Fastback N five-door performance model ahead of its Paris Auto Show debut. As promised, Hyundai N’s third model was unveiled as part of a race from Rome to Paris. There was a catch, though: the race was between two Danish villages called Rome and Paris, not Italy’s and France’s capital cities. Driven by Gabriele Tarquini, the winning i30 Fastback N needed 8 minutes and 18.49 seconds to cover the distance between the two villages. Back to the car, you should know it grafts the same mechanicals of the i30 N hatchback onto the i30 Fastback body style. Less than two years after their launch, Hyundai’s i30 5-door and Wagon get their first significant update. The compact models gain a new Smartstream 1.6-liter diesel engine that complies with Euro 6d Temp emission standards, as well as a subtle design update and new connectivity features. Thanks to the powertrain upgrade, Hyundai says the entire i30 family (i30 five-door, i30 Wagon, i30 Fastback and i30 N) is now compliant with the latest emission standards. The newly-developed Smartstream 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine is available in three states of tune: 96 PS (95 hp), 116 PS (114 hp), and 136 PS (134 hp). Sales of Hyundai’s N products “have already exceeded expectations”, according to the manufacturer, and will reach new heights with the launch of the i30 Fastback N. The third product in the car firm’s N performance brand, after the i30 N and Veloster N, will be officially presented to the world at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, on October 2. Hyundai has expanded its portfolio of N-badged cars with the introduction of the new i30 N Line, which will be available across Europe later this summer. Unlike the i30 N or Veloster N, however, Hyundai’s new i30 N Line isn’t performance-oriented, even if it has the correct exterior and interior upgrades. Thus, customers choosing this model will have to make do with a 140PS (138hp / 103kW) 1.4-liter petrol engine. Enhancing the driving dynamics of the car are the upgraded suspension and brakes, which are said to have been “tuned to add extra spice to the regular i30 five-door“. In essence, the i30 N Line is to Hyundai what an S Line model is to Audi. The first, fully-blown performance hatchback from Hyundai is finally here: meet the hot new i30 N. Hyundai’s answer to the VW Golf GTI will be available in two versions, both powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The base model will offer 250PS (246hp) whereas the Performance Package version is rated at 275PS (271hp). The former will hit 62mph from a standstill in 6.4 seconds while the more powerful version drops that time to 6.1 seconds. In both cases, the chassis has been upgraded with a new adaptive suspension which offers the driver five different driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, N and N Custom.
