2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe Debuts With Slick Styling And Up To 382 HP, But No Manual Yet

Image
The 2022 BMW 2-Series Coupe was one of the worst kept secrets in Germany, but it’s finally official as the company has introduced the model ahead of its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its predecessor was a favorite of enthusiasts and that should continue as the coupe adopts a modern design that thankfully eschews the buck tooth grille of the larger 4-Series. Instead, there’s a fairly conventional grille which is flanked by sweptback headlights and angular air intakes. Continuing down the sides, the coupe has pronounced wheel arches and streamlined bodywork. Designers also gave the car a more prominent shoulder line, an evolutionary greenhouse and flush door handles. Out back, there’s a short trunk with an integrated spoiler. Other highlights include distinctive taillights and an edgy rear bumper. The M240i is distinguished by an aggressive front bumper, a cerium grey grille surround and unique mirror caps. The model also sports Shadowline trim, special exhaust tips and a smal...

2020 BMW M2 CS Goes Official With 444 HP, A Six-Speed Manual And Carbon Fiber Galore

Image
Set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month, the 2020 M2 CS features a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that produces an estimated 444 hp (331 kW / 450 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. The engine can be connected to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. With the manual, the car can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.0 seconds before hitting a top speed of up to 174 mph (280 km/h). The optional dual-clutch transmission lowers the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time by 0.2 seconds, but the top speed remains unchanged. Besides being more powerful than the M2 Competition, the M2 CS has an Active M Differential and an Adaptive M suspension. The latter is all-new to the M2 lineup and it features Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. When it comes time to stop, drivers will be happy to know the car has a high-performance braking system. It features six-piston calipers and 15.7-inch (400 mm) discs up front as well as four-piston ca...

2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Is Coming For Merc’s CLA As Your Economy Sports Sedan

Image
Sedans might be a far cry from the dominant force they once were having fallen victims to the popularity of crossovers and SUVs, but BMW still thinks they’re worth their time. In fact, they believe in them so much so that they’ve expanded their range with not one but two premium small sedans, as after the four-door 1-Series, they’re now presenting the sportier 2 Series Gran Coupe. And unlike the 1-Series sedan that’s not available in the U.S (though, it did arrive in Mexico), this one will be sold in America and Canada, among other global markets, in 228i xDrive and M235i xDrive forms. The first two things you’ll need to know about the 2 Series Gran Coupe (GC) is that it’s a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz CLA and that it’s not related to the rear-wheel drive 2-Series Coupe and Convertible, but to the front-wheel drive 1-Series hatchback launched earlier this year, as well as the latest X1 and X2 crossovers. However, while other markets will get both FWD and AWD models...

BMW Drops First 2-Series Gran Coupe Teaser Ahead Of November L.A. Premiere

Image
We’ve known for a while that BMW was planning to launch the 2-Series Gran Coupe, and now we have official confirmation that the car is a few months away from being unveiled. Set to premiere at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in November before going on sale in global markets next spring, the 2-Series Gran Coupe has been teased for the first time. The image released by the automaker previews the C-pillar, rear fenders, small boot lid spoiler, shark-fin antenna and slim LED taillights. The 2-Series Gran Coupe will use the same underpinnings as the new 1-Series, which is also in development and will be unveiled this year. However, while lesser versions of the car will have to make do with FWD, the upper grades will get the xDrive all-wheel drive system. One of the models that will enjoy the all-wheel drive is the range-topping M240i. This version is believed to utilize the same engine as the X2 M35i, namely a 2.0-liter four-banger making 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb...
