Maserati has revealed the new Levante Hybrid at the Shanghai Auto Show, taking the next step in the brand’s electrification strategy following the reveal of the Ghibli Hybrid last year. The new electrified variant of the Maserati Levante, which is also the first hybrid SUV with the trident badge, is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine fitted with a 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator and paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The mild-hybrid Levante produces 325 HP (330 PS) and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque and is available only with all-wheel-drive. Maserati also claims that the new Levante Hybrid is lighter than the six-cylinder petrol and diesel variants at 4,607 lbs (2,090 kg), and comes with a better weight distribution since the battery is placed in the rear. 0-62 mph (100 km/h) comes in 6 seconds while top speed is set at over 149 mph (240 km/h). Following a lengthy teaser campaign and a coronavirus related delay, Maserati has finally taken the wraps off the all-new MC20. Billed as a “super sports car” that is the natural evolution of the Ferrari-based MC12, the MC20 promises to mark the beginning of a new era for Maserati. That’s more than just marketing hyperbole as the MC20 features an all-new, twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine which is billed as “100% Maserati.” It features a dual injection system as well as an F1-inspired pre-chamber combustion system with twin-spark plugs. This helps to enable the engine to produce 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends power to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential.  This enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than 2.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed in excess of 202 mph (325 km/h). Maserati has expanded its model lineup by introducing the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo. Sitting at the top of the company’s sedan range and following in the footsteps of the Levante Trofeo that was launched in 2018, they pack a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8, which is built at Ferrari’s plant in Maranello to Maserati’s specifications. The V8 develops 580 HP (588 PS / 433 kW) at 6,250 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque between 2,250 and 5,250 rpm, and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission made by ZF and rear-wheel drive with self-locking differential. The nought to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration takes 4.3 seconds in the Ghibli Trofeo and 4.5 seconds in the Quattroporte Trofeo, and top speed is identical in both models at 203 mph (326 km/h). The production-spec Maserati Alfieri will premiere at next year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Italian company has confirmed. Maserati first unveiled the Alfieri as a concept back in 2014, but the production model has been delayed multiple times due to changes to FCA’s scheduling. This will finally change when the road-going Alfieri hits the market in 2021 or 2022, between 12 and 24 months after its unveiling. When the Alfieri was initially confirmed for production in May 2014, Maserati claimed that it would be offered with three V6 powertrains delivering between 404 hp and 513 hp. Well, these plans appear to have changed significantly. The dashing sports car will be built on an aluminum space frame and will be available as a mild hybrid, a plug-in hybrid as well as a an all-electric with three e-motors, four-wheel drive, torque vectoring, and 800V battery technology. FCA is looking to put past disappointments behind them as far as its Maserati brand is concerned, focusing on a future where every new model will stay true to the brand’s exclusive image. The Italian automaker will also be ditching the GranTurismo nameplate in favor of the Alfieri, a two door luxury Coupe/Cabriolet boasting a plug-in hybrid powertrain with E-AWD. Simply told, the Alfieri will be the Maserati of EV Coupes. According to Maserati, the Alfieri will be capable of speeds north of 300 km/h (186 mph), and thanks to its active aerodynamics, torque vectoring and a three motor E-AWD system, it will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 2 seconds flat. Following a handful of teaser images, Maserati the unveiled the Levante Trofeo in New York. Designed to battle the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the high-performance crossover has a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that is built by Ferrari. It produces 590 PS (433 kW) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the model to rocket from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and onto a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 mph). Besides the almighty engine, the Levante Trofeo has been equipped with an aggressive exterior that includes Full Matrix LED headlights, a piano black grille and muscular air intakes with honeycomb mesh inserts. Maserati has released the first teaser image of what is believed to be the Levante GTS. The company is keeping details under wraps but hinted a “new storm is coming” to the New York Auto Show. Maserati then added the Levante tag to its Twitter post. The teaser image only provide a glimpse of the crossover but it reveals the high-performance model will have LED headlights and a unique front bumper with larger air intakes. We can see some stylish wheels which could be exclusive to the model. While Maserati is playing coy, a company insider recently told us the automaker will use the show to introduce the Levante GTS and an even more powerful Levante Trofeo. Both models are expected to use the same twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that resides in the Quattroporte GTS. We haven’t heard much from Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera since the company unveiled the Disco Volante Spyder a couple of years ago but the coachbuilder has just revealed plans for an all-new model. Set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week, the Sciadipersia is based on the Maserati GranTurismo and features unique bodywork that makes it virtually unrecognizable. The donor car’s aggressive front fascia has been replaced by a more conservative unit which is tapered and has chrome accents. The model also features new headlights and a ventilated hood. The styling changes continue further back as the Sciadipersia has custom fenders, a distinctive greenhouse and eye-catching pillars with bright accents. Continuing to the rear, buyers will find a new window which resides above a bespoke trunk and custom rear fascia. Maserati has released the first pictures of the facelifted and renamed Ghibli. Set to debut at the Chengdu Motor Show on August 25th, the Ghibli GranLusso features a new front bumper, a revised grille, and additional chrome accents. Moving further back, the model has been equipped with body-color side skirts and "GranLusso" badging on the front fenders. The rear of the car receives a minor refreshing that includes the installation of a new bumper and a body-colored rear extractor. Maserati says this gives the model a "sharper look" than its predecessor. While the styling changes are modest, Maserati says they provide a "substantial improvement" in aerodynamic efficiency. They also help to usher in several new features including adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beams that promise to provide better illumination. Maserati CEO Reid Bigland recently revealed the company has extended the lifecycle of the GranTurismo and the automaker has just unveiled a minor facelift for the aging model. Shown at the New York Stock Exchange, the 2018 GranTurismo will be available in Sport and MC (Maserati Corse) trims. Both models gain a number of minor styling tweaks including a new "sharknose" grille which draws inspiration from the Alfieri concept. Additional changes are limited but there are larger air intakes and a modified rear bumper. Thankfully the interior hasn't been overlooked as Maserati installed revised switchgear and a new central console with a "double rotary knob" that is made of forged aluminum. With all the four-doors it's come out with in recent years, it'd be all too easy to forget about the Maserati GranTurismo. After ten years in production, it may not be around for much longer. But before it goes, Maserati is sprucing it up with at least one more special edition. The GranTurismo Sport Special Edition pays tribute to 1957 – a special year for the Trident marque in which it launched the 3500 GT that was its first real commercial success, while Juan Manuel Fangio won the Formula One World Championship in the Maserati 250F. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of that landmark year, the special GT gets a new carbon-fiber hood (either color-keyed or left in bare finish) with a big air scoop in the middle. It also gets carbon-finish splitter, door handles, side mirrors, and rear lip spoiler, and wears special 20-inch gloss-black alloys. It may not have been that long ago that Maserati was principally a sports car manufacturer alongside the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. And while it's made four-door sedans since the 1960s, these days it's more of a luxury automaker than an exotic one. Mansory wants to help bridge the divide, though. So among all the attention-grabbing tuning jobs it's brought to the Geneva Motor Show this year is a Levante decked out to look more like a GranTurismo MC. The most obvious change is the bulging black hood with that big air scoop in the middle, which contrasts so starkly with the bright orange bodywork, a theme which continues inside but would probably look more at home on a McLaren. That's hardly the extend of it, though – “extent” being the operative word.
