Toyota’s GR Supra Racing Concept Previews The Return Of The Legend

Image
Toyota has revealed the Gazoo Racing Supra Racing Concept, giving us a preview of the actual Supra road car that’s due in 2019. Along with the new racing concept came the official confirmation of the new Supra, with Toyota saying that “this concept heralds Supra’s return in a fifth generation”. As for the concept, it features a rather dramatic bodywork, including the wide fenders and the crazy aero kit featuring a huge rear diffuser and a fixed rear wing. Imagine the car without them and you will get a pretty good idea of what the new Toyota Supra is going to look like. “Yes, the Supra is returning,” said Johan Van Zyl, President and CEO, Toyota Motor Europe. “This concept is a clear signal of our intention to bring back one of our most legendary sports cars to the market. This baby, developed by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, is a thoroughbred designed for the race track.” “The best way of taking our ‘Supra Hero’ into a new era. It has been made light, compact and, of cou...

Toyota Gazoo Super Sport Concept Teased Ahead Of Tokyo Debut

Image
While the world is still waiting for the new Supra to finally break cover, Toyota has dropped a teaser for a new Super Sport Concept coming from its performance Gazoo Racing department. The new supercar concept will debut at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon as a Le Mans-inspired flagship of the GR range. Toyota says that the concept will exhibit how they can apply the lessons learned from their participation in the WEC racing series to a car for the street, with the single teaser image revealing a pretty hardcore automobile. So far there’s no official information on whether Toyota is actually thinking of putting a car like the upcoming Super Sport Concept into production, leading us to believe that this is still to be decided. The new supercar concept will debut on January 12 at the Tokyo Auto Salon, along with Toyota’s new WEC racers and production models such as the Toyota 86 GR and the Vitz GRMN. Carscoops

Toyota Yaris GRMN To Get 1.8-Liter Supercharged Engine

Image
Toyota has confirmed that its performance-oriented variant of the Yaris hatchback will receive a 1.8-liter supercharged four-cylinder. Prior to the model’s Geneva Motor Show debut, the Japanese marque has also confirmed that it will be dubbed the Yaris GRMN, which curiously stands for ‘Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring’. Looking beyond the strange name, the engine is expected to be the real selling-point of the souped-up Yaris. Toyota’s official word is that it will produce over 205 hp meaning it should prove the perfect rival to the all-new Ford Fiesta ST, also bowing in Geneva. From a visual standpoint, the Yaris GRMN will stand out with its aggressive bodykit, large roof-mounted rear wing and motorsports-inspired livery. Carscoops

Toyota Teases Hot Gazoo Version Of The Yaris Inspired From WRC

Image
Toyota announced their return in the hot hatch segment with a high-performance version of the Yaris that will take inspiration by the WRC version.  The company released a teaser sketch of the  upcoming hot Yaris  which will use “experience gained from its full-blooded return to the World Rally Championship”, according to the official press release.  We don’t really have any other official information but the above statement should mean that the high-performance version of the Yaris will come with a turbocharged petrol engine to make the necessary connection  with the new rally car .  The teaser sketch shows us the profile of the new Japanese hot hatch, revealing an aggressive body kit on the familiar three-door bodystyle. The range-topping Yaris will likely adopt the Gazoo nameplate, with Toyota known to want to launch a new sub-brand for their future high-performance models  with the name of their motorsport arm Gazoo Racing on them .
