Audi has taken the wraps off two new additions to the e-tron family: the Q4 e-Tron and its slopped roof sibling, the Q4 e-Tron Sportback. With these compact electric SUV offerings, Audi hopes to expand their line-up, with the aim of offering more EVs in the US market than any other luxury manufacturer by the end of the year.  The Q4 e-Tron represents the smallest Audi EV as yet. Unlike the larger e-tron SUV which is based on the ICE-centered MLB Evo architecture, the Q4 e-tron is built upon Volkswagen’s new MEB platform. The MEB platform also underpins the ID.4, and is dedicated to EVs.  Both the regular Q4 e-tron and the Sportback will be offered in the US in a single battery/motor configuration but with two different performance variants. The 77 kWh battery is standard, while other markets such as Europe will see a smaller (and cheaper) 52 kWh version. Audi has revised its RS5 Coupe and Sportback models, giving them a more aggressive appearance and new MMI touch technology. The 444 HP 2.9-liter TFSI twin turbo V6 unit however remains the same. The exterior of the two RS5 models now features a wider and flatter Singleframe grille, following in the footsteps of the latest RS6 and RS7. Meanwhile, the implied air vents above the grille take us back to the iconic Audi Sport quattro from the 80s. “The revision of the RS5 Coupe and RS5 Sportback marks the successful conclusion of our 25th anniversary and the renewal of our model range,” said Audi Sport exec Oliver Hoffmann. “Thanks to the standard permanent quattro drive, they occupy a special position in their segment.” The 1.6 inch (40 mm) wider wheel arches and darkened matrix LED headlight bezels serve to further differentiate these new RS5 models from their regular A5 counterparts. Electric crossovers are becoming a staple of the Los Angeles Auto Show and Audi has used the event to unveil the new e-tron Sportback. Essentially a sportier version of the standard e-tron, the Sportback is a stylish crossover coupe with an electric powertrain. The front end is instantly recognizable and features a prominent Singleframe grille with a light platinum gray finish. It is flanked by sporty air intakes and newly available digital matrix LED headlights. The latter are a first for a mass-production vehicle and the light projected from them is broken down into tiny pixels which can be controlled with “exceptional precision.” Audi says the headlights each feature a micromirror that can be tilted up to 5,000 times per second. This allows them to illuminate or mask out areas with amazing accuracy. Audi has unveiled the new RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback. Starting under the hood, the crossovers are powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that produces 395 hp (294 kW / 400 PS) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. It is backed up by a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the models to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Drivers looking to go even faster will be able to order an option that increases the limit to 174 mph (280 km/h). Of course, the performance features don’t stop there as the crossovers have been equipped with a sport-tuned suspension that reduces the ride height by 0.4 inches (10 mm). Audi hasn’t officially (or rather, fully) revealed the new RS7 Sportback just yet, but the display car has made its appearance next to the RS6 Avant at the VW Group’s preview night and no one could take their eyes off its bulging bodywork. Some Youtubers like Shmee were also granted exclusive access to the new hot Audi, even taking it for a drive on a public road. Audi Sport’s latest product comes complete with a huge honeycomb grille hosted on a very aggressive front bumper, wider fenders front and rear to cover the bigger wheels, deeper side skirts and a rear bumper that houses a set of massive oval exhaust pipes. In fact, the new Audi RS7 Sportback is 40mm wider than its normal siblings, making sure that no one will mistaken it for a plain A7. Not with those fenders, wheels and bumpers, you won’t. Audi has revealed the facelifted 2020 A5 model family, which includes the Coupe, the Cabriolet and the four-door Sportback bodystyles, together with the also refreshed S5 models. As expected, the facelift focuses on the same areas with the 2020 A4, including a revised Singleframe front grille that now sits flatter and a bit wider and features ventilation slits to remind you of the iconic Audi Sport Quattro. The bumper is also redesigned with larger air intakes and a new lower blade while the lights front and rear received a new signature. The rear end gets a new diffuser insert backed from a set of trapezoidal taillpipes, making the back of the car look wider. All models will come with LED headlights as standard, with Audi offering Matrix LED headlights and LED rear lights with dynamic turn signals as an option. Audi was late to the crossover coupe game, but they’re making up for lost time by introducing the 2020 Q3 Sportback. Based on the standard Q3, the Sportback features a sportier appearance as it adopts a black Singleframe grille and trapezoidal air intakes. The crossover also has a sculpted hood and optional Matrix LED headlights. The sporty styling continues further back as the designers gave the model chiseled bodywork which is contrasted by flowing lines above the wheel arches. Of course, the biggest changes are the sloping roofline and upward sweeping beltline. This helps to give the model a more dynamic appearance and Audi says it helps to make the crossover look longer than the standard Q3. Other notable styling features include plastic body cladding, a rakish rear window and a stylish rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Audi has unveiled the new S6, S6 Avant and S7 Sportback. Starting under the hood, Europeans get an electrified 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine that produces 344 hp (257 kW / 349 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. It is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to a quattro all-wheel drive system. In terms of performance, the S6 TDI Sedan can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.0 seconds. The S6 Avant and S7 Sportback can accomplish the same task in 5.1 seconds. While the latter models are a bit slower off the line, all three are limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Those figures aren’t earth shattering, but the cars are pretty thrifty at the pump. According to Audi, fuel consumption ratings range from 6.2 L/100 km (37.9 mpg US / 45.5 mpg UK) to 6.5 L/100km (36.1 mpg US / 43.4 mpg UK). Audi is previewing its next electric vehicle, the e-tron Sportback, with a namesake prototype at the Geneva Motor Show. Displaying a dizzying orange, black and grey camouflage pattern, the e-tron Sportback Prototype envisions a sportier, coupe SUV version of the e-tron SUV. As with the model that will soon arrive in dealerships, the e-tron Sportback uses components from Audi’s modular longitudinal platform (MLB). While it doesn’t use a bespoke EV architecture, the new model features electric quattro all-wheel drive, fast charging with up to 150 kW and “a range suitable for long-distance journeys.” While Audi doesn’t offer any more details, we should expect the e-tron Sportback to use the same powertrain as the e-tron SUV. In said model, two electric motors produce a combined 402 hp (407 PS) and 490 lb-ft (664 Nm) of torque.
